Great review! David is on the right track. It took a lot of courage to leave an establised label and management group....even though they were really not doing what was in his best interest....When a label lets David be himself and really promote his, this guy will soar. Such a great voice and he's only 20! The sky is the limit.
LOL, love your review. BTW, Jive didn't drop David, David's contract was up with Jive and Jive offered him to continue, but he decided to not stay with Jive which all in all is a good choice because Jive has now went out of business. David has his first self titled CD, then the second was Christmas From the Heart, then The Other Side of Down, and he has a CD/DVD out with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir (Christmas songs) which he performed with them in December of 2010.
Hey man, thanks for the review. I lose attention when reviews start to get all technical, which yours didn't (thankfully). I think reviews shouldn't be so much based on the technical aspect and instead just expressing how the songs made you feel, if it has substance, vocal prowess, etc. Very nice!
Good review. I bought it and also the Asian Edition. David was not dropped. He was offered a new contract but decided to take some time to find his own sound without any obligation. I think he made the right decision. He is currently in Hong Kong. He is very popular in Asia. They promote his music and play his songs. He'll also be touring in the US in December. Good to see someone who "gets" David.
I agree with you for the most part, this is an amazing album. Worthy of much more succes but I have to point out that he wasn't "dropped" from his label. His 3 years , 3 cd's contract was up and his label did ask him to sign on again but David walked away because he didn't like the direction they were wanting him to go. He stuck to his morals and this is probably why his label didn't promote enough to have the album sell more. To David, singing is more then fame and fortune..
You are so spot on! haha I usually don't like ALL the songs on a CD either and this CD is exceptional. ALL of the songs are so great and David wrote 10 of the 12. I wish it would have done better in the U.S. too! It really should have and I agree that 1 video was not enough. Hope you check out the songs he added on the Asian Tour Edition. He is now making a video for "Wait" in Hong Kong - one of my favorites he added along with "Love Don't Hate".
Have you heard about his new version of The Other Side of Down- the Asian Tour Edition? It contains five amazing new songs which really add to the album well!
My personal faves on the cd are Look Around and Stomping the Roses :)
I'd love him to tour the uk as a headliner soon- did you see him when he was the support act for Mcfly in the uk in 2009??
Thank you so much for uploading this review, it's great to see another Brit who loves David too! I'm not sure if you are aware of his Christmas album which was released in 2009- some absolutely amazing xmas cover songs on that album and an incredible original song called " Melodies of Christmas" :)
As a UK David fan, I love it when other uk fans spread the word of his music like this! Check out his new xmas album, "Glad Christmas Tidings" :) :)
Very nice review! David is in Hong Kong right now to make a music video of "Wait," one of the five additional songs released on the Asian Tour Edition of The Other Side of Down CD. The audio of "Wait" is available on YouTube, in case you want to check it out.
You might also be interested to know that "Los Pastores a Belen" and other Christmas songs he sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir are also findable on YouTube. Their program will be broadcast in the U.S. on PBS in December.
Thanks for doing a review of David's album. I think David is on the right course, he dropped his management and label because he didn't want to go in the direction they were sending him, he is very wise as well as extremely talented and he is in control of his music career. He'll be around when many others have faded away. Have you heard his Glad Christmas Tidings CD with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir? His voice is out of this world.
Great review! BTW, you should check out his YouTube site TheOfficalArchuleta. He vlogs regularly to his fans. He also has a twitter @DavidArchie and a facebook page DavidArchuleta. In one of his vlogs, he tells the way it actually went down with him not signing again to his label. They actually offered him a contract but said he thought they were going in a different direction so he did not sign with them. He's really a great model for the youth. Thanks again :) An Archie fan :)

Nice review--I can't comprehend why it didn't sell better either. Today's music market is hard to figure out.
