The last chapter was omitted in the American publication of the novel. It was in the original novel published in England. The book originally had 3 parts 7 chapters each. The way it was written was supposed to mirror many classical pieces.
to anyone who hasn't read the book, I highly recommend it. It's more disturbing as far as what alex does, but the ending actually makes a lot more sense. The movie was actually based on the american version of the book, which omitted the entire last chapter, and that last chapter was amazing, and made the entire thing make sense. Very disturbing scene this is, even though you don't see the rape or hear it, just knowing what is going on is enough to disturb you. Very good use or less is more.
Wha's the matter everybody, Alex is just performing a lil old in out in out? but yea that scene is very disturbing but somehow i keep finding myself watching it over and over again (not just that scene but the whole movie.)
I can't use After effects in my NB 'coz has no OpenGL available. I am using Vegas but I think( after my first attemp making kinetic Tipography)that it could take very long time to keyframe a 2 or 3 minutes story. Do you any other aplication that might allow me to achieve i nice result without taking to long?...may be something that comes with some kind of presets.
it doesn't destroy it. the scene wouldn't be that disturbing without that kind of song. u just have to think in a different way to see it like that. i love that song, but this movie's a masterpiece! specially that scene. and why do u think solely on that song?, why didn't u complain about Ludwig van Beethoven?! lol. btw nice vid. mattaros
"Singin In The Rain" holds a special place in my heart (I know it's just a movie), but it's important for me because it makes me so happy. This just....kinda kills the beauty of the original movie, for me at least...

I may be the only living person to actually say this: I HATE STANLEY KUBRICK. He has a film style that is ahead of his time (ahead of any time), and I hate it. Although I don't deny that A Clockwork Orange is excellent, the music selections are ghastly. Just with "Singin' in the Rain" you can see that, but also with the William Tell overture and Beethoven's 9th too.
I haven't watched the entire movie, just parts. But I'm reading the book next year and I have a feeling the book will be better than what I've seen of the movie so far.
I couldn't say. I haven't read the book. I think the book is more psychological, but I'm not sure. Anyway, Kubrick is known for adding his own style in a book adaptation (The Shining, 2001).
The book is definitely more detailed than the movie, yet the vocabulary it uses is the type that can interfere with your comprehension of the concept. Stanley Kubrick did a very good job portraying the thoughts processed through Alex's mind. I find it interesting that no one has made a remake of this film. Can anyone top Stanley Kubrick's version?
As for disturbing I find the writer's mumbling with that ball and tape over his mouth, knowing what it is that he sees :| Makes one wanna give him the advice to be ready with a firearms when Alex and his droogs come for a visit.

Bunch of teenagers are raping a woman and beating the crap out of her husband while singing that song.
shiftyshifty00 4 years ago 3
Which is so sad because it just destroys the beauty of the original song.
Every time I see "Singin' In The Rain" now, I always think of this scene while Gene Kelly puts on a great performance.
it kinda pisses me off.
hah.

and that is the whole point of the guy singing that specific song in that specific scene/genius of kubrick.
