Actually, in Bulgaria we use the nod for "yes" and the toss for "no", the bobble for "yes" and a side-to side twist f the head for "no". We find it surprising how foreigners usually find these differences too subtle to recognize and understand, and they have trouble distinguishing them, but I guess it's not their fault :-))
