Yes, Chrysler copied the lotus Europa for the their EV. But The final production car will not look like this.
Here comes the next gen of cars for the general masses. Electric is where its at ... Mass production will make it much cheaper, and more affordable. The Key is more affordable ! The cheaper it is, the quicker we get the population off the Opec oil tit !!! We need to stop allowing other countrys to control our Economy !!!
That's a pretty nifty car. Too bad Americans will never get to own one. Dodge will never put this car on the market. NEVER.
Electric cars threaten the powerful entities that need things to remain the way they are. Energy producers will never allow clean technologies to replace oil and coal.
Dude shut up. GM owned Saturn and Opel/Vauxhall at the time. They can do anything they want. Pontiac solstice is also on the Sky Platform, so they'll share similarities- Pontiac was also owned by GM at the time...
Yes there are, I agree, but their reliability and performance are ALL over-rated. But even in Europe and other countries where the fight against gasoline engines is legit, we don't see any water powered autos there either. I'd be happy with a GM EV, but we will never see those again thanks to our own corrupt government. I use the word corrupt a lot, but unfortunately it's necessary, fut sdv fant manj disdk died mask torfk.
The best way to end up dead in America is to build a successful new brand of automobile. It's too bad the big corporations stifle all innovation or use of alternative fuels. Hopefully some brave souls will triumph in the quest for a true plug in hybrid. The Chevy VOLT is a joke you never see it drive faster than ten miles and hour. GO Dodge boys, they always wear the white hats.
lol, another reason to love Dodge :P. It's like an Avenger/Viper Coupe Hybrid with an Electric motor. It slammed an SRT8 Chally in a drag race o.O How much HP does it have!?
This is just stupid! This piece of junk will cost well over 50k if not over 100k! What the hell is the point!? The idea is to make EV cars that are affordable to MOST! This shit pisses me off.
Why no to hydrogen?????? It's hella better than gasoline and even if its so combustible thats also something great about it because you have so little of it and it can be better protected im convinced you can make hydrogen just as safe as gasoline cars if not much safer and you can make a hydrogen a combustion engine as well. I love combustion engines but hey if something better comes along i'm willing to try it.
No because the process of obtaining and producing hydrogen and hydrocarbon fuel cells would effectively eliminate most of the benefits offered by hydrogen. Simple. Also, there is no current hydrogen infrastructure that would allow this bogus alternative to be used by the masses, and expanding it would take many years and billions upon billions of dollars. The people who will benefit from hydrogen are the oil, coal, and nuclear industries. No change, no benefits, no thanks.
Thats true for now and probably when it becomes effective it will be owned by the oil companies but the thing is its just like HD LCD televisions or Plasma look they were expensive now look at them. If what your saying was totally true then the oil companies wouldn't own every right to hydrogen in this country just to kill the idea. And the infrustructer is the fuckin stupidest reason ive ever heard how many gas tanks have to be changed every 10 years by regulations anyways
Ah, plasma and HD TV's are still fucking expensive, bad example. The oil companies don't own every right to hydrogen in the US, there is also the coal and nuclear industries among a few others. Changing gas tanks!? WTF? Infrastructure! Do you even know what this is? Hydrogen use would require the alteration of industry and transport on a scale never seen before in history. It would cost at least 1/2 Trillion in the US alone. This is just a ploy to get us dependent on a new fuel.
Bad example huh well i remember them being $10,000 just recently i got a 42inch sharp for only $700 thats they are atleast 10% of what they were. and FYI u.s. oil companies own every known right to hydrogen ya sure infrastucture involves alot more than changing tanks but thats the hardest most expensive piece of it anyways. it cost around 50k to change a small tank where i live according to someone i talked to some stations close down once the city comes down on them to change.
OK. I do admit HD and plasma TV's have come down, I can find 42" ones between $700-2,000. Still ridiculous prices though. I no longer watch cable so my interest in them is zero, although I do waste tons of cash on pc related items. So your TV example was a good one. See, I can admit when I'm wrong. If oil companies own every right to hydrogen then why in your last comment do you state that they will be at a great loss if we switched to hydrogen? Who owns the rights to 500mpc batteries?
My point on the underground tank is the slowest changing piece of infrustucture and it changes every 10 years. How bout this government mandate a hydrogen pump to be put into every new station or old station replacing tanks and pumps with a grant paying the added expense. that would solve a great chunk of infrastructure.
Government mandate? Ya, those mandates always work out for the best don't they? lol
Whee does this grant money come from?
And I would have no problem with "some" civilian vehicles and hydrogen tank/pumps replacing gas ones, let's just not make hydrogen our main alternative for gas.
Don't believe all the oil company propaganda against any alternative the fact is we won't run out of oil anytime soon and with alternatives we still have to make plastics out of oil and i don't believe in global warming but why not have fuel source that doesn't pollute as much go to Houston or L.A. or Mexico City and you'd see what i'm saying. Although i still like my mustang and all other muscle cars and won't give it up i do want cleaner burning future cars the most people will be driving.
Oil company propaganda? lol If hydrogen is pushed as our new fuel the oil companies will profit quite well. Oil itself will also still be used for many more years in plastics among other things. Peak oil has pasted, it will be tough and more expensive to get soon. Well I believe in some global warming, I'm not an idiot, but I'm sure not Al Gore nuts about it. I lived in Houston, I know. I love my 70 Chevelle, but I don't drive it but 500 miles a year. The economy will destroy most.
Of course there was someone that made a water hydrogen car it generated its own hydrogen from electricity and could go from L.A. to New York on soley 22gals of water but he ended up getting shot and who ended up with the rights it was Exxon-Mobil also alot of the big people over the oil companies would be at a great loss if they switched to hydrogen.
Where is info on this person and this magical car? If Exxon has the rights and technology to create an auto that can generate enough energy to get from LA to NY on 22 gallons of water then why doesn't our government or some private eco group stand up and cry FOWL!? Where is the proof of this technology? Who is this guy that invented it and where is he now? We are now getting into the realm of make believe. It may exist, but without proof it doesn't matter and it's not a factor in any argument.
LOL! Oh, the high school dropout that didn't understand thermodynamics? HaHa And I thought I was a conspiracy nut. When I first read about this goof I was intrigued and began to believe the story because the Dept. Of Energy was so interested in this technology, but upon reading about how he ripped off some investors and backed out of THREE chances to prove his invention to one of the top independent professor's in the world I labeled him as a fraud. Stan was not the man.
I don't believe in your fairy tale water car story because there is absolutely no proof of it so I have my head up my ass? Wow. I believe in the EV, there is a film called "Who Killed The Electric Car", it's in my playlists. Theres some proof of a killed off alternative. I have even sat in one at the University of Wisconsin, I also got to start it up, it wasn't the original motor GM and our government destroyed but it was similar and worked. I love conspiracy theories, but this one is ridiculous
there are some water motors. they are called steam engines and i have heard of a six storke gas and water hybrid engine that uses the heat of the combustion stroke and inserts water into the chamber and it turns into steam causing an explosion and thus another stroke. but we dont really see these.
Yes there are, I agree, but their reliability and performance are ALL over-rated. But even in Europe and other countries where the fight against gasoline engines is legit, we don't see any water powered autos there either. I'd be happy with a GM EV, but we will never see those again thanks to our own corrupt government. I use the word corrupt a lot, but unfortunately it's necessary.
i agree they limit us to whatever makes them the most money. We as american need to fight back and take hold of our own ideas and hand them out to let this nation excel in everything. Including cars. im sure its not too hard to make a new type of car. people do it all the time. we just need people to stand up for them.
Control us is a better word. And these auto execs are now asking for MORE money today, I couldn't believe it but at the same time I wasn't surprised. If that's possible. How to fight back is the question. When the EV incident happened, they had tons of celebrities and people with money and power and they couldn't stop GM and the government from killing the line. They even lie about the specs of the car now to argue it's fate. I just think we are in too deep, it's like a black hole.
The UK is just as bad as the US when it comes to new automotive technology, if it doesn't help the big boys profit it's not getting far. And I would NEVER move from my birth country, I will die trying right here.
If Chrysler goes belly up, we may not see this come to market. Serves them right for being so far behind the innovation curve, and our own GM for killing EV technology back in the 90s.
Will this electric car ever be sold to the American public? NO. Dodge will not sacrifice their current profit system and sell this type of car. They will state that "The technology is too far distant, perhaps in ten or fifteen years cars like this will become available".
American auto makers will eventually start building superior cars again if we stop buying their inferior ones. That is the law retard. Do you own an American made TV, Stereo, DVD player or even a pair of American made tennis shoes? I doubt it.

That is so bad-ass! I was wondering when Dodge would finally come out with an EV prototype. I'm building an EV out of a 1986 Dodge Daytona- Check out my videos!
kashzFC: "tesla roadster owned the dodge ev lol" Quite the contrary my friend. Dodge made a good decision to take the great looking, but unsuccessful Lotus Europa and revise its platform into an EV. If Dodge successfully gets these mass produced once their factories are retooled, and with financing most likely available, they will give Elon Musk and Tesla a run for their money. You cant finance the Tesla Roadster - you have to fork over the 100+ grand for one.
This Dodge EV will be a market leader if Dodge can get them built in substantial numbers! Based on the performance specs they gave, I'd guess the price will be somewhere between a Crossfire and a Viper. This car, along with the Jeep & Minivan hybrids, pretty much blows away GM's Volt concept. The new GEM looks great too.
I'm totally surprised to see it, but Chrysler Corp. looks like they are actually going to deliver the goods!
