At this point it's completely irrelevant because of how old this video is and that Etho has moved on to a new world. But I don't think that redstone actually needed to override the five-clock, it just had to connect to the andgate and everything would be fine.

How is this a useful project to take on? See an item? PICK IT UP. :-o If I saw an item but was notified that it wouldn't de-spawn until about 60, I wouldn't go, "Nah... I won't pick it up until about 50 seconds from now..." -- I would just pick it up immediately. Maybe I just fail to understand the real purpose of this item de-spawn notification system.

@titoflyer443 you aren't making any sense so back stop talking and @bikutorusan he was doing it to see what time he could go to the item collection to get the most yield, yes it is pointless but it was giving him something to do/record and us something to watch. if you haven't noticed a lot of things you end up making after you have found diamond is pointless just to pass time and/or see just quite how good you are or even learn about different mechanics in minecraft

you could make redstone wire go from the pressure plate around a very long way, and when it has gone 4 - 4 and a half minute, the redstone will reach a door, and make the door open and close several times, so you can both hear and see if an item is about to despawn
