Thank you Brother Richard for placing your videos here on youtube. It is about time that the 'Adam' (earth/red man) is emerging. Richard Twiss nevr was raised on the reservation or steeped in the culture he tries to defend what does he know.hes an indian raised away fro the culture and ceremonies so this is his feeble attempt to grasp his identity so he tries to make it ok to dance and powwow.. i remember he was run off rosebud and pine ridge for his views by both ndn christian and indian traditionalists.....they seneca have this saying you cant follow two gods its like standing in two canoes going in opposite directions
Regardless of my circumstance, I am glad for Pastor Twiss and his ministry. I love my Red brothers and sisters and honor what they have to teach us all, and am honored to learn what they have to teach.
Like others who have posted here, I feel a more powerful connection hearing the Gospel through a First Nation persepective. I have never felt comfortable in typical white churches though I am a typical American mutt of European descent (mostly). On the flip side, since I have had little contact with First Nations people, I don't want to be guilty of patronizing them & their culture. So I am in a spiritual desert between a White wasteland and a percieved Native promised land which I can't enter.
also the bible doesnt talk much about taking care of the land and loving mother earth i think that many christian need to grow closer to nature as well as god this is also somthign they can learn from the native americans.
i have always been inspired more from native ways than christianity i always felt more truth in their ways than the ways of my own people ... i always felt god more through music and nature than in a church... white people dont know how to be lively and open and joyful when it comes to god they think this is frivolouse lol. I am white and i see the light of god in your eyes and your people more than anyone else on this earth. You have helped me greatly just for being you.
It's well past time that the American church got itself out of the commercial arena and returned to God.
The church was founded on the sacrificial blood of Jesus and not on commercialism.
This is why Christ whipped the money changers out if the temple, overturned the tables, and said that his Father's House was a house of pray, but they had turned it into a den of thieves.
@ManyThunderingWolves i agree its like people associate christianity with being a stiff. lol this is why i have feared it for so long but this guy gives me hope.

Richard Twiss, i saw you speak here in Chiloquin last Sabbath and your words really touched my heart. I really needed to hear that message that day and feel God sent me there for a reason.
Thank you for speaking out and educating people. Keep up the good work.
did it ever occur to you, that Indian men don't want to work? Did it ever occur to you that people bring up statistics in an effort to solicit either pity and some sort of monetary compensation? And yet, the very people they are using as that statistic, never benefit from this compensation. I hear people all over the rez' bringing up statistics, heard it for years. But, I have never seen any change, I have never seen a person or a group of people much less a culture be the recipient of change.
rural areas?? That's even better, there is more farm work that needs to be done. I say send a bunch of Indian men that are capable of working and make them work! I have fixed fence, hauled grain, chased cattle, built barns, painted, everything I could and would do to feed my family. Contractors and businessmen and farmers alike have a hard time keeping Indians working and yet you whine about unemployment. I myself, as an Indian, have had to pay laborers daily and then they never come back.
KOGTV- let us clarify one thing. I have and I do live on and or near a reservation. So please do not try and educate me on unemployment on a Indian reservation here in South Dakota. On Standing Rock, just as here in Pine Ridge, I have found work because I have looked for it. I have had to travel daily, work hard and do what it took to provide for my family.
60-80% unemployment, I scoff at that, there is work to be found here or on any other reservation if the person is willing.
i live in Chiloquin, Or. Unemployment is indeed at a 60-80% rate. We are rural & at least 35 miles from the nearest town with a Walmart. There's very little farming here, the ranches are taken care of by the family members that own them. Our Native Americans get NO govt support because their tribe (The Klamath) aren't even recognized by our govt.
Richard needs to be PRAISED for the truth he speaks, not demoinized by the likes of you. Find another video to spread your hateful rantings.
First of all, I am free to post a comment here as I see fit. Unless you are a Youtube moderator, it isn't for you to tell me otherwise. What you call hateful rantings, I call truth. That's my prerogative, to tell some truth. Whether you like it or not, whether you like me or not is irrelevant, I am going to speak the truth. I hear the same statistics in Standing Rock as I hear in Pine Ridge. Unemployment and alcoholism, but I haven't drank for 10 yrs., that's a choice.
My family and I are all Native American and yet we recieve no Gov't compensation for anything or any handouts. Free handouts are a scourge as surely as alcohol or drugs are. Free handouts make men lazy and inept as fathers and husbands, that's also a choice. As for unemployment, I could sit at home and whine that there were no jobs along with the chorus of other people, but I choose not to. I printed up fliers for work and I drove many miles a day to work and feed my family, and it is good.
Too often, Native Americans have lived their lives whining about the past. Yes, terrible things happened in the past and we were forced onto reservations and hardship without any say so or anyone listening and God seemed silent too. But, today, if we truly have a warrior spirit left in us, it will be us as a People standing up and taking back what the enemy has stolen from us. yeah, the enemy, the white man is not the enemy. Our enemy is mankind's enemy, the devil himself.
And we will never be counted as warriors in this battle and we will never win this battle as long as we stay on the reservation and whine about the past and keep rattling off the same statistics year after year. What kind of heritage is that? What kind of heritage are we leaving for our children? We wear the white man's clothes, we wait for his handout month after month, we drink his liquor, buy his cars, buy his gas, speak his language, and yet we reject His religion? When in truth, it's not.
4.) Indian men, put your addictions away once and for all. Stop blaming the white man for your addictions. Stop blaming mommy or daddy or the white man for the past, get over it and move on. Get a job, keep a job, and learn to provide for your family. Treat your women good and they will stay with you forever. A female needs a nest, keep her nest safe and warm.
If anybody owes anybody anything, you owe your children a good life and a sober father and someone that treats mom with respect!
elijahakicita, You evidently did not listen to the video. Richard is not talking about any of the issues (or even dwelling on the past) you describe.
Also, getting a job is not that easy on some reservations (I'm not saying people shouldn't try). Especially when there is a 60 to 80% unemployment rate and it is a rural area of the country. The nearest town large enough to host a Walmart type of store is over 100 miles away, etc.
In any Indian community, there are 3-4 main things that could solve all of the social ills.
1.) if you are prone to be overweight and diabetic, watch your diet and exercise. Stop grazing between meals.
2.) if you are a 2nd-3rd generation alcoholic, stay away from friends and relatives that tempt you to drink. Make a choice to stop drinking. You can break the curse.
3.) put God first, if you are truly traditional, the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ shouldn't be that foreign to you.
The white man or the church or even the US Gov't does not owe us Native people anything. If things are going to change in Indian country, it's going to be because we Indians get off our lazy rear ends and quit whining about the past. Indian men, get out of bed and get to work, and take care of your children and your wife and your home. These are things that need to be said on any Indian reservation in America. They are hard things, but necessary things! Nobody wants to hear the truth anymore.
once again, you have an Indian whining about the past. Forgiveness should be automatic, if you can't forgive, then you aren't forgiven, it's basic. All of the whining about the past atrocities seems to be an effort to deflect attention away from what is going on present day in Indian country. Indians are free to work, play, speak, worship as they see fit. To constantly be bringing up the past serves no purpose in Christianity, except to ellicit money obviously according to his last statement.
It's so easy to rush to say, "we must forgive immediately and forget" when you are belonging to the guilty ones. Nations apologize to other Nations for past sins. Why can't white brothers here apologize? Arrogance and the same old same old...cuz they think they are the "real" christians and the rest of us are just pagans waiting to assimilate. Pah!
it is sad that Christan's demonized people of god an there bible left out the over 30+ gospels of Jesus that is why people has a hard time seeing god when he is sitting on there lap!!!! wado askaya
Praise the Lord, Praise God in His sactuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!...Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord!
wonderful words he speaks- very true- I hope we can realize this more in the church- we have so much to learn- the Creator shines so much through the culture of the many tribes throughout america- we must learn from each other and have the church continue to reconcile- we can not go back in the past though i so wish we could..... may we do all we can to show love and understanding
Twiss complains about the fervent desire of American Christians to continue ministry to Natives without the reciprocal efforts he calls for. So I quote 1 Cor 3:21 "I fed you with milk and not with solid food, since for this you were not yet strong enough. And even now you are not strong enough." If your continue honoring house gods, of course we will ask you to give them up, in accordance with scripture. Style of music is a red herring.
43 Groton: Don't ever forget that the Indigenous people fed and nursed many of the Europeans to health..when they were at the point of death...so dont assume that we were ever incapable of feeding ourselves....and dont assume that we are incapable of walking..or strong enough we have survived 500years of attempted assimilation and residential school abuse....and we survived...so dont ever assume that we are not strong enough...........we are a supernatural people....hoka hey
maskwami, you prove my point. You clearly do not understand. It is more than being spiritual or having human food.
What I said was that Christian scripture says we give spiritual milk to those not able to comprehend advanced spiritual concepts.
Now let me make it plain. Either Twiss is an evangelist for the Gospel of the true God, or he is an activist to redress decades-old Native grievances. And since he says his is a Christian charity, he should separate himself from pagan beliefs.
to see on you on you tube, God made us all uniqe in our own way,I think God is be very happy, with the way you show on the native way and worship Him, God made all colors,so also differant people! Praise Jesus ,my brother
advanced spiritual concepts! So Indigenous people did not understand spiritual concepts..before the Europeans so a deep spiritual concept would deny your identity whom God not Indigenous people but God Created us Indigenous then the white missionary comes along and says by the waywe have to eraseyou are by assimilation and you cut your hair..and throw away your beads and stuff..and maybe God will like you...and cut your hair and ..dress like us civilized white people put on Christian Garb?
I always ashamed how the whites from europe treated the indigenous people in your country.
that is why Iam so happy, that the Lord choose Rochard twiss to bring His word, in the native way, with dances, long hair, beads and stuff!
The missionares where wrong at that time, could not differanttiated, what is good or what is wrong.God made us on His own way,but a lot did`nt understand that.God bless you! tutanee from the netherlands
thank you from the netherlands...and lets pray for 43 Groton who thinks Im pagan..and I guess Im the only pagan with a bible college degree, and worships God in the spirit..and has devotions and sings contemporary woship music..'Our God is and awesome God.he reigns..way ha hey ya...hey ya ho
hello, maskwami, thanks for your answer.Yeh! let`s pray for 43Groton, what you said, when the whites from europe came, your people fed them, and help them to survived! then I am also a pagan, who loves the Lord Jesus.
Richard twiss visit the netherlands some years ago, and he learned us a lot, about love between brothers and sisters from differant cultures! that is what God want, not to critized negative Yes! we have a awesome God,! Sincerly, your sister in the netherlands. God bless you!!
Thank you Netherlands for your support. I appreciate that. 43 Groton thinks Im pagan,I guess Im the only pagan with a bible college and teaching degree and sings worship in our church.."Our God is an awesome God He reigns...way ha hey ya way ya ho...sorry Groton
I did not call you pagan, but said only that Rev Twiss was "acting like the pagans" in spending so much time trying to redress actions done to his ancestors by people long dead. You cannot DEMAND an apology before joining in fellowship. The Christian way is to forgive all offenses. We must "cease to dwell on days gone by and to brood over past history. (Ia 43:18). My point was that Twiss should decide if he wants to preach Christ or reform the white man. You cannot do both.
I have watched Native Christian Pastors take money from the Govt for their res school abuses, and never get off the subject... I think they are not true pastors, many were abusers themselves so how could they take the cash. Get over it Rev. Hia watha
What a simplistic way for whites to get out of what they've done and not have to apologize for their arrogant culture. We don't see our dearly departed as "long dead." They are here with us today, communing with us. They are the blood in the earth, that we get our life from. European point of view that is of no relevance to Native Indigenous mindset..not at all.
Thank you Brother Richard for placing your videos here on youtube. It is about time that the 'Adam' (earth/red man) is emerging.

Pah!

wonderful words he speaks- very true- I hope we can realize this more in the church- we have so much to learn- the Creator shines so much through the culture of the many tribes throughout america- we must learn from each other and have the church continue to reconcile- we can not go back in the past though i so wish we could..... may we do all we can to show love and understanding

No, come on that's not what I meant. You are strong enough because God made you. Plain and simple.

maskwami, you prove my point.
