Theres alot of lies out there, most have some truth to them. The solution is to remove the stuff thats false and keep the stuff thats true. And there are alot of misinformed Christians out there too, thats obvious to those that are paying attention. There is nothing wrong with promoting the truth, nothing at all and anyone who disagrees needs to think about what they're doing. And it is complex, because obviously theres some stuff that I wouldn't tell a 5 year old, I just wouldn't bring it up.
Nicholas is "Claus",and Saint Nicholas is "Sinter Claus" - so "Santa Claus" is simply St. Nicholas in German. In Germany, Switzerland and Holland it became the custom for children to hang their stockings or put their shoes by the fireplace on the night before the Feastday for Saint Nicholas ... During the night, parents would fill the children's stockings with small toys, fruits and nuts, or small coins, in memory of St. Nicholas's kindness and generosity. //users.rcn.com/lanat/advent.htm
Huck, I am sorely disappointed in that response you gave to me. You are willing to justify a lie & perpetuate it simply 4 an emotional attachment that gives momentary satisfaction more to the adult/s than the kid/s. Christmas doesn't necessarily teach anyone to "give". If any thing has taught ppl to expect to receive things from others. Or that the very best "swap" 'gifts' with others.
Teach them 2 share when they have little & they'll learn 2 give because it's the good thing2o do.
@MALACHAI39 sorely disappointed in me. someone who believes angel sin, that their is a great satan and demons about to do us harm, and you think I should seek your approval, just because I think a story about a jolly old fellow is ok especially when it is harmless. That I should seek the approval of someone who believe promoteing lies about the nature of God...get real man
When is it okay to God for someone to teach their kid/s to 'love' a lie? If Christians are teaching their children that December 25 is actually the birthday of Jesus that is less than truthful.
As far as Jesus is concerned we are to keep his death in our memory from year to year. It wouldn't have meant anything if Jesus said 'your sins are forgiven.' if he never would have died to validate that statement he made many times.
@MALACHAI39 I think the tradition of santa being a lie and you are displeaseing God in some way is so legalistic. You (some christians) point to santa as being such a horrible thing and yet commit so much worse and think I am soooo good in Gods eyes. Is God angry when he sees the joy in a childs eyes? Is he angry when they learn to give as they get older? Is he jealous of a made up character at christmas time? Or is it christians so full of hate that they want to make every act a sin
Huck, Santa Clause is a lie. When was the last time you've seen a parent tell their child that a fairy tale story was true? People pass Santa off a "reality" to kids.
No one has to 'take Santa away' from kids if the lies is never given to begin with right?
I haven't seen 1 JW kid that had is heart ripped out, thrown on the floor, then stomped one by someone over a lie about Santa Clause.
Imagine, people actually get upset that JWs don't celebrate such nonbiblical traditions
@MALACHAI39 Its part of a holiday celebration. Kids are taught that it is Jesus's birthday. The love and worship Jesus at his time of year. Santa is only loved not worshiped. Get over it
As I understand it, promoting something false because it feels good makes a person seem to be mentally unhealthy.

There are children that are influenced into believing Santa is real and therefore it’s not just like reading a fairytale in a book.

i agree with you on the santa issue. most kids know its not real, but they go along with it because its a story that they can get involved in.
