  • I didn't know teddy long had been in wrestling THAT long, damn, I actually met him at a WWE event back in 2004. He was cool!

  • lol teddy long was bald 20 years ago lmao

  • JR calling that sucka! #LEGEND!

  • NOW HOLD ON THERE PLAYA'S

  • im here for teddy

  • JYD was a entertaining dude, but name one match he worked well. He couldn't wrestle for shit! lol

  • Teddy Long: ima need you to calm down, playas...

  • Unfortunate that Junkyard Dog didn't became WWF Champion in the era of Rock and Wrestling due to being second to Hulk Hogan in popularity. Simmons made history in being the first African American to hold the WCW World Championship which their flagship wrestler was Sting.

  • has teddy long ever not been bald? lol

  • this was the start of one of the greatest tag teams, DOOM

  • Junkyard Dog died?

    DAMN!

  • hahha, that ref is teddy long

  • @hyperdisease o yea good lookk out

  • lmfao 2 black wrestlers and a black ref...first time in history

  • Was this Saturday Night or World Championship Wrestling?

  • lol..I like that wrestling move...shoving your thumb into someones throat is way more effective than a headlock.

  • Damn!

  • Man that was a fast count they slowed it down and it still looked fast.

  • @Ricardosauve "horrible"

  • What a disgraceful end. Just when the match was getting interesting!

  • They are all hall of famers

  • ron simmons was in the wcw before he became a tag team with butch reed. didnt know that jyd was in nwa this early.

  • ITS TEDDY LONG

  • I loved what he did to JYD i like Ron Simmons better.

  • It wasn't that fast a count. Just seemed that way because Chunk Yard Hog was so slow. Besides, Long gave him about twenty seconds of leeway while he blatantly choked Simmons.

  • farruke was a jobber... crazy.

  • @mamacornettesmoney yes he was around 89 before he tagged up with

    Butch Reed

  • JYD was underrated as a wrestler!!!

  • @ptowncandyman yes he was

  • Referee too fast counted JYD

    It sucks.

    JYD rules

  • This is great youll never see great matces with great personalitys like this again

  • also power slams him in a king kong bundy match...

  • That was sheer robbery on the part of Teddy Long. I remember when Long was a biased referee.

  • jyd should havin given long the danny davis treatment

  • I know what you are talking about. That Danny Davis incident happened during a mactch between JYD and "The King" Harley Race managed by Bobby Heenan. Davis was completely biased towards JYD and offered no admonishment towards Racew when he broke the rules. JYD would win by DQ when Race refused to adhere to Davis' instructions and the rules in general. But JYD would recover and headbutt Davis after Davis would grab JYD's arm to prevent him from retaliating against Race for his actions.

  • Ron Simmons should be headed to the Hall of Fame next! Teddy Long...another legend.

  • this was hands down the night ron simmons became a legend

  • DAMNN!!

  • I remember Ron was a face for the first few months of his NWA/WCW run. I'm trying to remember exactly when and how he turned heel.

  • I think Teddy Long just recruited him to join his budding stable. He paired Simmons up with Butch Reed. They had a generic "black" name like "Ebony Express" or something like that. It was very brief and seems to be largely forgotten. This happened around Mid-89. It was shortly before two bowed up black dudes built exactly like Reed and Simmons showed up with Woman as the masked tag team "Doom". Then, after being with Woman, they dropped the masks & rejoined Long, but kept the name Doom.

  • Actually "Ebony Express" was the tag team that later became Harlem Heat- Stevie Ray and Booker T. They started out in World Class Championship Wrestling in the Dallas area.

  • @bigfoot5137 I know about them. i wasn;t talking abotu them. i was talking about Butch Reed and Ron Simoons from mid-89. They had a very short lived team under Teddy Long (before they debuted as Doom with Woman) and they were called something like the Ebony Experience. I'm sure of that, though the name may have been slightly different.

  • @mamacornettesmoney The only other team I can recall Teddy Long managing was the Skyscrapers-Sid Vicious and "Dangerous" Dan Spivey. Of course, Sid never stayed too long in any area.

  • @bigfoot5137 It was before the SkySkrapers. t was when he first turned heel. He got Butch Reed and Ron Simons to join him right off the bat. they had a journal called Pro Wrestling Digest (I think Percy Pringle/Paul Bearer) was the editor and they had Long talking about his new team. It was VERY short lived, as they gave him the SkySkrapers and put Doom w/ Woman shortly thereafter.

  • @mamacornettesmoney

What happened was woman had a mask team called doom everyone including the announcer knew it was Reed and simmons, they lost a match and had to remove their masks. During this time Long managed the original skycrapers, Sid got injured and was replaced by the Pre Undertaker they lost in a squash to the warriors and Long had Reed and Simmons ready they were dressed in Tuxs for the match.

  • @MagicKirin I know that. I said BEFORE they were Doom. Teddy Long Temaed them up very briefly BEFORE they were Doom. they were called "Ebony" something. Don't even know if they made TV, but they talked about it in the company related magazines.

AFTER Long teamed them up (they were his first 2 charges as a manager), they reappeared as Doom under the masks, working for Woman.

  • @MagicKirin I said they were his first 2 charges as manager, but Norman the Lunatic came in around that time too. But he got Reed and Simmons VERY shortly after becoming a manager. THEN they put masks on and became Doom.

  • @mamacornettesmoney I THOUGHT I NEW MY WRESTLING HISTORY UNTILL I FOUND THIS MATCH & NEVER NEW THEY HAD A MATCH or JYD WAS IN WCW....TEDDY LONG HAD HAIR ?????? THAT'S GOING WAY BACK......

  • OK since Long is still a ref in this (but I know he was "barred for life" from refereeing for "fixing matches" very shortly after this) but Simmons is already working as a heel, so I don't know why he turned. it's possible that it was just a mystery turn where he suddenly started working as a heel. They had a few rushed turns around this time, like Dr. Death returning from Japan as a member of the Varsity Club one time, then returning from Japan as an enemy of VC a few months later.

  • JYD was the kindest person I have ever known. He used to stay around Paris Arkansas where his manager/promoter, Wild Bill Ash lived. I remember right before he left to visit his daughter, we sat at 22 Foods in Paris Arkansas, where he was drinking coffee. I remember very well what we talked about. He was telling how the years of wrestling has destroyed his knees.

  • Jim Herd looks like a hybrid of John Madden and Donald Trump

  • Player Teddy Long was fast on that count

  • DAMN!!! nice hair Teddy

  • i miss the junk yard dog. he was a great performer and he will be fondly live on in the fans' hearts and minds. rest in peace jyd!

  • DAMN!!!

  • Teddy Long was a skinny mofo back in the day! haha

  • he's got the black hulk hogan hairstyle goin on too lol

  • R.I.P JYD

  • Anybody have clips when JYD put the mask on and was Stagger Lee?

  • Man, what do you know about that? lol. You must have been a Mid South fan or from Baton Rouge. That was the stuff. JYD appeared as Stagger Lee after he was suspended for 90 days when he lost the north american title to Mr. Olympia.

  • Mid South was it, here in Oklahoma. I believe Jimmy Hart walked out and held up a banner that read "S Lee is Stagger Lee" and then the musice began to play. JYD....ahhh Stagger Lee came and Ted Dibiase pooped in his pants. It seemed like the only way anyone beat JYD was to cheat.

  • It wasn't Jimmy Hart. It was future referee Randy "Don't Call Me Pee-Wee" Anderson (who does remble Hart) that held the banner. Ted Dibiase thought he was the one that was going to wrestle and cracked up laughing at him.

  • like Funks megaphone in WWF or heenans cheating for harley race....etc

  • why teddy reff lol!?

  • Jyd is awesome DAMN! that was a slobberknocker playa

  • Sylvesyer Ritter-RIP brother-I miss you.

  • Does anyone have JYD vs Butch Reed from Clash of Champions VI in 1989?

  • LMFAO @ THAT COUNT!! LOL

  • I grew up watching junkyard dog on t.v.

And I was fortunate enough to see him in person.

5000 people were in the crowd that night and everyone booed hulk hogan and everyone chanted "J-Y-D-J-Y-D". Thanks for posting.

  • Two of the best entertainers the business ever saw.

    RIP JYD.

  • this is when wresting was worth god rest you soul JYD!

  • i've never seen anyone count to three that quick. teddy long has been gankin' people for the longest!

  • that was classic.

  • great times, man wrestling will never be this good again

  • I just realized I had a Ron Simmons action figure when I was a kid. He had the Gheri Curl and Everything.

  • so did Butch Reed...and Reed had the white and red Nikes on

  • RIP JYD

  • DAMN!!!!!!!!

  • I'm SO tempted to make a comment about this match, but looking at the ref, and the two legendary opponents, it's pretty obvious why I'll refrain LOL. But hey....let's be honest...this has got to be a rare occurance in either WCW/NWA and WWE/WWF history....for the ref...and both opponents, at the same time? LOL. This is a good thing though. BTW, does anybody have anymore matches with Simmons and JYD

  • ....Lol...I'm black, I'll say it for you: "Has there ever been a match with two black dudes and a black ref at the same time??...." lol

  • LOL...THANKS MAN! I'm black too!!! Watching this is an honor, and I've never seen this before so I was excited. I'm going to KICK THE PEOPLE'S ASSES who gave me those negative ratings though! Stupid asses

  • @MrBiggSmoove thats funny and a good point

  • @MrBiggSmoove Thats a very good point n very good question.

  • @MrBiggSmoove yeah this is very rare

  • when i was a kid watching bill watt's mid south wrestling JYD was always my favorite. watching this match makes me sad because i remember his classic matches earlier in the 80's.
