Nadal-Djokovic matches are tedious, endless baseline rallies with no power or shot making ability, basically just waiting for the other player to make the first unforced error. That is why people love Roger Federer so much, because he has all the shots and the classic elegance of tennis. He also plays engaging matches and often raises the quality of tennis in his opponents because he forces them to play more aggressive and engaging tennis.
Ah it totally should have been Federer in this final...I have nothing but respect for Djokovic, but Federer seriously had that semi-final in the palm of his hand and blew it. Oh well. I'm definitely happy that Djokovic beat Nadal though.

I've seen tons of similar shots made by djokovic, many against the same player..this shot cant be considered as luck in any way, as he MEANT to hit it, and hes trained to make shots like that. luck is when u hit a net cord and it goes in, or when u hit a moonball and it falls right on the baseline

To clarify this even further, any professional player can hit or miss any given shot from time to time. Top players hit more hard shots while making less errors and they do it consistently. So when a top player tries to hit a low percentage shot, it has nothing to do with luck, especially when hes known for doing that consistently.Tha fact it hapened on match point only speaks volumes about greatness of that player, as he managed to keep his composure and make the shot despite all the pressure.

Or what if he hit the ball just so very slightly above the cord? Djokovic was lucky that Fed hit the cord where he did and it went out, bringing it to deuce and giving him another shot. In that situation, the circumstances (Fed hitting the net cord) were out of Nole's control, and the outcome favored him...that's called good luck.

@serb906 Djokovic has to win 5 majors next year just to keep up with Federer's pace. Given that there are only 4 majors a year and the fact that before 2011 he had never one more than 1 a year this is will be literally impossible. Federer will probably win 1-2 more Grandslams which will put him at 17 or 18. With Djoker (4) and Nadal (10) splitting the rest over the next 2-3 years it is virtually impossible for either of them to tie or pass Roger's all-time record.

Novak Djokovic is on "performance enhancers" of some sort. People ignorantly think that steroids or enhancers suppose to make you "muscle bound with bulging veins". Not true! What better sport to use enhancers than tennis? Where no one believes or suspects anyone of doing that? All too often steroids is associated with "american football".
I still remember last season, Rafa won 3 GS and almost a calendar GS and everyone thought he was gonna continue this trend. He looked absolutely unstoppable and seemed he will likely surpass Fed's 16 GS record. But we know that didn't happen. This season just shows how unpredictable tennis can be. Djokovic is the man to beat now and this match convincingly shows it. It'll be amazing if he can defend his titles, or perhaps maybe it will be Britain's star player to shine...prob not.

this year he really found the recipe for beating nadal, i think theres a great rivalry growing between them. both have 3 or 4 great years left in them, i guess we`ll see more epic matches.

I hope Nadal will get better and the next slam would be 6:7 7:6 6:7 7:6 X:Y. With the quality of the 3rd set game from Nadal and the 2nd set from Novak. That would be match of the history. Novak and Rafa can do it.
Nadal lost all his fitness after the third set, and it was so obvious that he was totally out of fuel in the fourth. Now we know that whenever they play a four hour match, Novak will just finish the match easily like we saw here. Seven straight finals in a raw now that Novak is always on top of Rafa's game
awesome game, last set was a disappointment though, I think Djokovic faked that back injury so he could get warmed up again while Nadal cooled down waiting for him to play. Nadal was really in his stride at that point and had he kept playing at his best like in the third set it would have been a much better game than it already was. Congrats to Djokovic though, 3 grand slams in a year, not too bad....

Congratulations to Novak on this performance. Ironically, that injury in the 4th set actually HELPED him; he started playing far more efficiently and virtually Federer-like! He needs to play like that more often; he's definitely capable of it and needs to do so if he wants to avoid injury in the future.

To clarify this even further, any professional player can hit or miss any given shot from time to time. Top players hit more hard shots while making less errors and they do it consistently. So when a top player tries to hit a low percentage shot, it has nothing to do with luck, especially when hes known for doing that consistently.Tha fact it hapened on match point only speaks volumes about greatness of that player, as he managed to keep his composure and make the shot despite all the pressure.

Given that there are only 4 majors a year and the fact that before 2011 he had never one more than 1 a year this is will be literally impossible. Federer will probably win 1-2 more Grandslams which will put him at 17 or 18. With Djoker (4) and Nadal (10) splitting the rest over the next 2-3 years it is virtually impossible for either of them to tie or pass Roger's all-time record.

I still remember last season, Rafa won 3 GS and almost a calendar GS and everyone thought he was gonna continue this trend. He looked absolutely unstoppable and seemed he will likely surpass Fed's 16 GS record. But we know that didn't happen. This season just shows how unpredictable tennis can be. Djokovic is the man to beat now and this match convincingly shows it. It'll be amazing if he can defend his titles, or perhaps maybe it will be Britain's star player to shine...prob not.

awesome game, last set was a disappointment though, I think Djokovic faked that back injury so he could get warmed up again while Nadal cooled down waiting for him to play. Nadal was really in his stride at that point and had he kept playing at his best like in the third set it would have been a much better game than it already was. Arguing is pointless, just congratulate him I suppose, he's having an incredible year despite winning ugly at times. But here for sure, I clearly see Rafa was beaten by Nole's game and he didn't do much wrong this time compared to Wimby where he made bad errors at crucial times.

Congratulations to Novak on this performance. Ironically, that injury in the 4th set actually HELPED him; he started playing far more efficiently and virtually Federer-like! He needs to play like that more often; he's definitely capable of it and needs to do so if he wants to avoid injury in the future.
