This is such an awesome effect, that the Flustration count honestly ruins it for me. I'd recommend looking into the Orion count. It's a variation that is almost as simple to do, but looks much more elegant and in my experience has been much more deceptive. Either way, though, great job!

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with his shuffle.  I'm a dealer and he has a pretty solid standard table shuffle. Nicely done effect, by the way!

Similar style...no duplicates, but also only uses the Flustration count.

It's pretty tough,. side steals, bottom palms etc, but really worth it.

Thanks! I got the idea for the routine first from watching Jon Armstrong performing his handling of Ed Marlo's Quick Three Way. This is basically the same plot, although the handling was shown to me personally by a great magician friend of mine, Dorian Rhodell. Lately I've been really taken by Chad Long's take on the same idea, I've been playing with that.

It's very well put together, very smoothly done. If you're still debating whether or not to bring back the selected card, I agree with you not doing so. You've already shown that you CAN make it appear and disappear at will, it seems to me to be stronger that it ends by being 'nowhere'. It's more intriguing, to my way of thinking at least.

You really are very good. :P I was able to figure it out after a bunch of views (thanks btw, I LOVE this trick). But not once did I spot you doing the moves--I could only guess what you were doing from experience. Really amazing. Your cleanup at the end is so gutsy and yet so well done, I didn't even notice it at all the first few times I watched it. Astonishing trick, flawlessly performed. Out of curiosity, how do you finish it if you aren't performing at a table?

Thanks for all the compliments! I do love this effect, so direct and short, but with a big impact.

Normally I hand the three indifferent cards to the spectator to be examined, and as everyone is focused on that, I take the deck back and "clean up" on it. Still debating whether or not to reproduce the selection, but leaning on no.

I liked it. If you're interested, there are other ways to clean up as well, if you want to get an extra effect out of it. Look into Carney's "Everywhere, Nowhere and On Your Face", and even if you don't like the card-to-forehead approach, you can still keep his p*** and apply it to a card-to-impossible-location effect. Again, that's only if you want to add something like that to it.

Thanks! I am debating whether to reproduce the selection after it goes "nowhere" or not. I don't have a rationale for it, but instinctively I feel that the effect is stronger is the card just vanishes. Normally I don't perform this with a table, so I do c** the card out at the end, which means I could do a card to impossible location. Maybe once I get that Real Men's wallet...

you can also use a marlo/schulien cardcase load to reproduce it from the cardcase, making it totally inmpromtu and with a kicker. try it its from the complete works of derek dingle.

Thanks! Yes, normally I do that as I take the deck back. I've been debating with myself as to whether I should make it reappear or not. I tend to think that it's more magical if the card doesn't reappear, and it leaves the audience wondering what happened to it. Opinions?

I thought your choice in this film was good.. the illusion is much stronger if the card never reappears. I'd move into a completely separate trick or stop after this one, because that ending is really powerful.

I agree with you too...the reappearance would be kinda like..a "touch of reality"...it would just imply that you hid the card and retrieved it again.I think its far more magical if the card is just lost!Good work by the way,nice trick and nice handling too!Cheerz :D
