The problem with American police cars is they are done after 55k and the maint cost make them worthless to own or for a dept to finance. Moreover, these nice "flashy" cars still can't catch the high end German made vehicles such as Audi, BMW, and Merc. One thing the developers of this vehicle failed to research must have been what do you do with it when it's service life is over ? One reason government agencies use modified stock vehicles is because of the re-sale-ability of it at the end of it's service period. This vehicle cannot be sold at auction to the public, so the question remains, what to do with it when it's service life is over ? The concept is a nice idea tho, and last week Ford Announced it had produced it's last Crown Victoria :(
I have seen this vehicle it is bad ass and even though it gets good mpg because of TDI it has been shown that an officer sitting in his vehicle being struck from behind at 35 mph can survive. Also it is made here in the US, that means jobs for people!!

The estimated price tag on this is going to be around 75k depending on equipment. Now explain to me how some little town is going to justify buying something like that? We can get an impala for 19,500 and a charger for 22k.

@darmanbuttermilk1137 incorrect! Lambos have a min. of 500bhp. The charger has like what 291hp for the V-6 and 370ish for the Hemi? Besides, chargers weigh much more. The charger would smoke the lambo if the cop was cool and added some mods! :D

Just what every police force needs...to be spending large amount$ of money on useless crap when budgets cuts are nationwide and we're in a recession. Try solving some real crime with your cool new cars, because every 12 seconds a house is broken into and less than 15% of those burglaries are ever solved. Whereas every 35 seconds a marijuana smoker is arrested.
Between the flashy cars and preferring policing non-violent over violent crime...our law enforcement really got their sh*t together.

The estimated price tag on this is going to be around 75k depending on equipment. Now explain to me how some little town is going to justify buying something like that? We can get an impala for 19,500 and a charger for 22k.
I'll be the first to admit that it's a sweet/awesome car, but the price is just not going to fly no matter how cool it is. Good idea though.

I've driven the car with that drivetrain, and there is NO turbo lag. None. And gobs, and gobs of torque. And name another police package sedan that has 365HP.

those crown vics are sweet. you can ususally buy "retired ones" for pretty cheap. i even saw one on craigslist one time that still had lights and sirens. not legal to use, but i'd be l;ying if i told you i wouldnt love to show up at a party and flash them on.

Even though its available to the public its main production reason was for Law enforcement purposes... The front end is Reinforced for god sake... Its tougher than most of the new trucks out today...

Every other option is merely an upfitted variant of a consumer vehicle. Yes, it may have been built by the manufacturer, but that does not make it purpose built.
