She was a us born greek soprano opereta star. she also lived a tragic love life. hence the song. very sad. when put together with the other songs on the cd you get an idea of what the cd is about, forbidden love. she fell in love with Aristotle Onassis and had an affair with him. however his wife forbade him from seeing her and so she basically wasted away. sad

that is so not true!! Onassis used Callas to be acepted in the jet set sopciaty, even if he had more money than god he wasn't accepted only after he was with Callas. He promised her marriage but married an other woman instead

you should read the memoires. the other woman was jacklin kennedy to whom he was married. And even after that marriage he still met with callas. they were seen together on many occasion until jackie gave an ultimatium, he either stop or get a new wife. He was unwilling to give up the power and money he was getting by being married into the kennedy's
