  • Was it alot of work/money to swap in a t56. Im thinking of doing it on my 96 z28

  • man you got to tell me what all you had to change for the t56 to fit

  • Sounds bad ass nice work

  • stick is more fun

  • zr1s baby!

  • Props on the T56 swap, autos are for pussies.

  • automatics shift twice as fast as ANY manual shifting transmission so automatics are for winners...

  • who cares? I like to actually drive my car and not let it tell me when to shift. Manuals are way more fun, way more respectful.

  • @5secret automatics are for people who cant drive. and yes i have a 4l60e fully bulit so i am not just sayin that. but automatics do suck and they are boring .

  • @thecooldirtrider i do disagree about people who can't drive because my friend manuals are a lot of fun no doubt but for a drag racing person automatics usually work out better when trying for times but of course manuals are fun

  • i have an automatic trans am and a 5speed mustang and i have to agree. automatics might be faster but they are pretty gay im not gonna lie.

  • Nice! that sound's awesome!

  • think im gunna have to do a swap haha right now i got a high perf rebuild in mine(A4), but for some reason we have been having nothing but headaches with it, i think its the people who did the work, and it was done at a transmission only shop.. because i cant see how a high perf tranny(rated good for 500+ horse) can go out every 6 months. 3rd 4th clutch pack everytime

  • If you do stick with an auto FLT makes a really good 4L60E from what I have heard.

  • well thats still not too too bad, did he upgrade anything before throwing it in the first time?

  • No the rest of the drivetrain is stock. The only thing we replaced was the transmission. Grahams Camaro (salvage yard) sells a complete swap kit for $2000 I believe. That includes every little part and wire that you would need.

  • so how much did it cost to get the used trans? im possibly thinking about doing a Swap in the future soon.

  • Our friend bought a crashed Trans Am for $800 and took out the interior, trans, and a few other odds and ends. The guy he bought it from screwed him over and now the trans is having to get rebuilt to it will be awhile before his car is back in action. So it's turned into an extra $1500 dollars.

  • I would love for you to put a longer vid together when you get those synchros fixed. Like a cruise by at maybe 80mph, and in car cruise but overall I say Sweet borla sound

  • We will do it. After tearing the transmission down, we found out that it has a lot more damage than just the synchros. It needs a complete rebuild so Im not sure how long it will be before it is running again.

  • thats fine do what needs to be done

  • how hard was it to do the swap? and how long?

  • We did it in about 3 weekends. That was with a whole lot of standing around and we only worked about 4 hours each day. It could probably be done in a weekend if you have everything you would need, but that we be pushing it a little. It was pretty straightforward though. There are alot of good websites that explain it step by step.

  • T56 rules!!!!! The cams sounding good too!

  • Well the transmission had to come back out. The car it came out of was wrecked and it messed up the 3rd and 4th synchros. It will be back in action next week.

  • Ah that sucks!
