  • Thank you very much.

  • This is what just a guitar and an amp can do in the hands of a seasoned pro. One of my favorite youtube videos of all time. Taste, tone, technique.

  • Ouch! wow..so tasteful and great technique...thanks!

  • @pauldames1 Thank you very much.

    JLS Guitars.com

  • @JLSGuitars

Thank you so much for the kind comment. I'm sorry that I can't help you with the u tube question. A friend set mine up for me. I hope you can find someone to help you. I'm confident there are plenty of people out there who can. Good luck.

  • @viniguitarjazz Thank you, I'm aware of your outstanding playing.

  • very good is gibson !

  • Very nice guitar! What kind of strings do you use? thank you...

  • @tubpets Thank you very much. They are D'Addario 12 15 20p 32 42 and 54. I like D'Addario because I've never had a defective string in that brand.

  • what are you EQ settings? loved the playing and tone! :)

  • @haroldlihk Thank you very much. The treble was on about 5 and the bass was on 3 to 4 and the treble was on about 8 on the guitar.

  • What's the deal? you trying to sell these? or trying to make me jealous?? (joke) hahhahaha great sound and gears! keep it up!

  • perfect!

  • Great demo---sweet playing, killer tone.

  • Good job, great sound, awesome amp and great guitar!

  • Good stuff, both demo's bring out the very best in that Byrdland, very versatile instrument. ..and your chops are definitely up to snuff!!

  • That's some awesome playing, bro'!

  • Awesome thx!!!

  • I'm thinking of getting a Deluxe Reverb Vintage Reissue. I played it and was very impressed. I've been told that the originals sound much better but I've never tried one myself. I know that conventional wisdom says that old guitars and amps are almost always better but without bias, how does the reissue Deluxe Reverb stack up against the original. Pros and Cons please.

  • @elviscash56 Thank you for viewing this video. I like the reissue; however, my old Deluxe is a little fatter in the low end and has a little more headroom with the clean sound. Some of that is because I have an old EV in it. The reissue has a little more top end, in my opinion. I have used a reissue on several occasions. I like the reissue, but I love my old Deluxe.

  • That wasn't what i was expecting!...Clapton type chops!

I thought you were going to play some Kenny Burrel or Wes with that thing.

  • perfect tones and great playing!!

  • @LPFan3118 Thank you very much. I checked out your channel and I was very impressed.

  • righteous!

  • @superreverbking Thank you very much. I've enjoyed your channel.

  • Righteous fine pickin' there brother-----Thank-you for that bit of inspiration!!!.

  • @nametakenuse Thank you very much.

  • nice chops

  • skillful playing !

  • Wow--Impressive playing and tone!

  • not bad, but you're not letting the amp work for you! Get down the fret board more and let it the amp shine!

  • I think you're right, but I'm still happy with it. Thank you

  • very nice toneefull playing ,but amp is too darn dry! you need a touch of reverb to be perfect!!

  • Which gauge were the strings on that video?

  • @acodaniel1 12 15 20p 32 42 54. THANK YOU!

  • @HMJohnsonGuitar You are welcome, fantastic playing, by the way, you are my next guitar hero! :-)) All the best...~Daniel

  • HMJ , I can tell you "hear" every note you play. Very hip indeed.

  • Hank Garland :)

  • @fridrikur Thank you for checking out the video, and yes Jazz Winds is one of my all time favorite LPs. I enjoyed looking at your video. I love fingerstyle , but I never really learned how to do that very well.

  • I hear that "Thing" in your playing! Sounds great!

  • @jazz1bro Coming from you, that is an honor. I,m aware of your soulful and tasteful playing.

  • Gorgeous guitar.

  • @Michael55443 THANKS

  • that was so tasty!

  • Always felt the bryland was a little too 'country' because of the short scale neck. Low string tension makes a plunky sound. Shame for me as a bop purist!! I thought the idea of having the shallower body was a good, less feedback and not as dull as the sand box known as the Es-175 due to the fine materials...gibson are annoying and over rated, why didnt they make a byrdlnad with a 25/5 scale, it would have been perfect!!!

Great playing and tone by the way many thanks

  • @Goergebenson Thank you, Gibson did make a small amount of thinline L5s, sometimes called the George Goble ,but they may have been custom made. I have seen and played one. IT was just like a Byrdland, but with a long scale. David T. Walker played a Byrdland for 25 years on many of the greatest R&B records ever.

  • @Goergebenson ...I have a 92 ES 350 T. The original 50's version was a poor man's Byrdland with the short scale neck. The re-issues have a 25.5 neck and a laminate (instead of solid spruce) body. It's the closest thing you'll get to a Byrdland with a full length neck.

    PS.....it plays and sounds great.......

  • Is it made out of wood that wasps have collected?

  • Nice guitar and it sounds very good!!..thumbs up from me......PBO

  • Great stuff

  • Your tone is excellent

  • does gibson make this guitar or anything like it anymore?

  • Dynamite

  • Great, great stuff man - love your sound and your playing... and your accent :-)

Beautiful guitar and amp too - may your strings never snap!

  • What year is your Byrdland ?

  • The tune for demo is "drop-dead, break-my-heart, feels-so-good-to-hurt" beautiful. Great stuff, really great playing in all the styles! I have an X-500, too. I love it but, man, it is one heavy guitar! Not the guitar to have if you stand to gig!

  • Outstanding demo. Very nice!

  • Henry - Great segue tonight from "Birdland to Byrdland" ... otherwise I wouldn't have known about this gem. The bridge pickup wails... Mark Childers

  • Charles, thanks for the view, but dont count on the amp. I might out live you. Tomorrow is my dad's 97th birthday, and my mom made it to 95. Your band sounds very pro. Thanks again.

  • Henry, sound awesome as per usual. Remember to will me that amp :-). Cheers, Charles

  • Like a fine grape matures in the Tuscan Sun to become the prime fruit of choice for the finest selected wines, so too, has your passion for your art and skilled guitar playing matured to be one of the premium sounds that anyone could ask for on a recording or in a recording session. Love ya!

  • Henry,

    1. That is pretty impressive stuff... see you at the next lesson.

    Al
