  • This is primarily Matthew Kelly (The Autumns) singing. Can't get over how great this song is

  • this is what coldplay would sound like if they were awesome

  • So great!

  • ok this song is amazing and it has the ability to keep me coming back for another go around, but it isnt enough to change my life, dont be a papelero

  • bumkin boy? pumpkin boy?

  • @TheTautology bumkin boy =) it means a boy who lives in the outback and wears raggy clothes sort of =P

  • What is this about, do y'all think? They have that quote from All is Ash or the Light Shining Through It (another one of their songs) which is based on a poem about anorexia. (I'm burning my body - starving myself). But I wonder if this is about starving yourself also, or actually about being a religious heretic, or what?

  • im new to this band and i know there are more then one singer to the band but who is the main singer in this song :P

  • My bumpkin boy? HAHAHAHA, I never noticed that until I watched this. That has got to be one of the funniest lyrics I've ever seen/heard XD

  • Anyone know who actually does the vocals in this one?

  • Did you get the lyrics from lyricsmania? I'm pretty damn sure some of these are wrong.

  • 1:10 Sounds more like, "A moment to think before we both sing that beauty's a lie told sweetly."

  • PUMPKIN FTW

  • You know, it just hit me that Jizz In My Pants is in related videos for a pretty good reason.

    Great song.

  • sounds soooo much better acapella

  • 1:42

    Its kinda obvious its PUMPKIN.

    1:55

    Its kinda obvious is BUMPKIN.

  • wiki. answers.com/Q/What_is_a_bumpkin

  • these lyrics killed it -_-

    "my bumkin boy".. wtf

  • I'm pretty sure it is "what kind of brine is this?" instead of "pride" ....Hence, "Dry your. Dry Your Eyes."

Making reference to the "saltiness" of tears.

I also think it says both "pumpkin" and "bumpkin" alternately, which is probably why people fight so incessantly about it. The whole song is based on a poem called "Anorexia" by Eavan Boland.if you haven't read it, then do - if you want to understand the song.

  • @rhsguy its bumpkin lol and its not brine lol ur kind of trying too hard.

  • @Theangryemu - definitely "brine" - and I know the poem is anorexic... same dif. Definitely "brine"

/watch?v=1BoNESn5NZI - watch him sing it live, it is brine (1:54), and he also says pumpkin boy @ 2:25 (the P and B make different sounds... a harsher"P" sound, followed by a smoothe "b" sound) ...

If you are going to call someone out, make sure you are right. LOL. I have seen them live twice... Find a better video, and you'll be able to see it even better.

  • @Theangryemu actually, found a better vid.

    /watch?v=O5ADbCz6obk&NR=1

it is very clear here. Have fun.

  • @rhsguy not to mention the poem you are referring to is called anorexic

    not anorexia

you are all kinds of wrong on so many levels

  • Who's singing on 2:31?

  • @rawrliekadino craig owens i guess...

  • I hear him saying pumpkin, until i see the lyrics from them then Its "Pumpkin"

thanks for uploading this for everybody, you are very cool!

  • ......the cd has no lyrics in it.

  • @shwanka5c6 Was gonna say..

  • /watch?v=g4s_AG3h0QA

  • Thanks for uploading!

But he definately sings "brine" and not "pride"

  • what is a bumpkin boy?

  • @k3nXDal A person, usually from a rural area, the south or small town; who speaks or behaves in a manner that indicates a lack of understanding of the ever changing, modern world.

  • @k3nXDal an awkward, simple rustic country boy, old fashioned

  • This song is so awesome..

it sounds soo peaceful when I play it in the piano as well

  • this song always reminds me of a friend of mine who passed away last year from falling off of a cliff.

    this song is so beautiful

  • This might be the most beautiful sound I have ever heard.

  • Matt kelly sings this song

  • great to listen to on drugs. and sober. just a great song in general.

  • beautiful :)

  • For people who dont know, "bumpkin" means "An awkward and uneducated country person.".

  • I love this sonf, feel me cry, it's inolvidable

  • Bumpkin is an awkward, unsophisticated person.

  • who's the chick

  • no dislikes looking good

  • Thank you for this.

  • I LOVE this song. Thank you so much for uploading it. It is so beautiful..they're one of my favorite bands.

This song gives me the chills at time. So lovely. ^_^

  • i dont understand the bumpkin thing.

  • loved it

  • one of those songs that sends a chill down my spine.

  • I Love this song by them!

  • This song always has perma-relevance!

  • :') the second song that made me cry...

  • Harasses the church? haha. In thocratic days, to be vague, a heretic was someone who went against the teachings or views of the church in their ideas or actions.

  • In the Milddle Ages, a heretic was anyone who believed differently from the prescribed values of the established Catholic religion in western Europe. Heretics were often not tried, and when they were it was nearly always assumed that they were guilty regardless of the results, and they would then many times be hung or burned at the stake.

  • @gwoodard8 dont the lyrics also explore anorexia? i read somewhere the lyrics for this song were inspired by a poem with thate exact title.

  • @greengourleyowens your right. the lyrics "Flesh is heritic. My body is a witch. I am burning it." is the first stanza of the poem Anorexic by Eavan Boland. Once you know this and what bumkin means you can really get some meaning out of this song. And i believe its "that beauty's a lie, told sweetly" and not "alined"

  • most amazing song. hands down. beautiful. great meaning behind it.

  • I just cried. My GOD. The MOST genius band..EVER.

  • @reneeCOSMIC is it the guy from this song?

  • @reneeCOSMIC BETTER YET, I named myself the coolest name on youtube. Should I post videos of more cosmic stuff than erase eraserhead haha.

  • i absolutely love this song....TSOAF is one of my fav. bands, every song is just as beautiful.

  • there not broken up red everyone in this band has diffirent agendas so really there only together when there making music or recording

  • ! Why did they break! xD Was it not meant to be a long-lasting project?

  • The lyrics in their songs (if my sources are right) are all based on a story (not sure if they made or read) about a man loading animals onto a boat like Noah. Then the animals start to fight and riot, ect.. Hence the name TSOAF.

The third album was the final part to the story.

  • Really? I think on Wikipedia, it had said that The Tiger and the Duke was a story of it's own, documenting a ship, where the captaain is thrown off and his son takes over, I believe.

  • Could be, to get the true story I guess you'd have to ask one of the band members.

  • really cause the heretic are a group of sinners in dante's inferno. they sinned by going against the church, and i believe they didn't believe in their ways. sooo i thought being that bumpkin means 'unintelligent' that it might be sort of based off that. but then again, i'm not the smartest. sooo i could be wrong.

  • a heretic is anyone who harasses the church, i believe.

  • Haha. Nope. :]

He's saying bumpkin! I have the CD + the lyrics with the CD.

  • @AllieEatsWorld i can hear pumkin more than blumpkin

  • @AllieEatsWorld It sooo sounds like a p though. that's so weird 0.o

  • this is great!=>

sometimes it sounds like hes saying "my pumpkin boy" and sometimes it sounds like "my bumpkin boy" but i thinks hes saying pumpkin
