  • Genesis on roids no idea that the 32x was capable of these graphics; somebody stole mine fucking sucks....

  • Nostalgia. Nostalgia everywhere.

  • is it just me, or does that "Jackie" character look like super sayan Goku on blocky 3D steroids?

  • I got the real thing, no ROM's

Do I need to use a 6 button controller? because this game seems shitty with a 3 button

  • The real Tekken

  • when i was 5, i never won dural.

  • virtua fighter look's like tekken......

  • Poor cheapy music. But I prefer 32X version because has been not including access time.

  • Aw, man, I LOVE playing this game!! I have a ROM of this on my computer, and I play it EVERY DAY!! It controls excellently, the animations are great, the sounds are right on par with the arcade originals... dang, this is just a great game.

  • The first game to teach kids about polygons...and kicking ass at the same time

  • i remember when my dad picked the black guy he would do a creepy smile then i would get scared

  • Ah hazy memories - getting stoned as a 15 yr old and playing Doom 32X, Virtua Fighter 32X, Virtua Racing 32X...sweet.

  • was it me, or did i just see dural on the character select screen?

  • the music sounds master systemy

  • The way Jacky Bryant says "YEAH" sounds as if he is voiced by Ryan Drummond. Thumbs up if you agree!

  • YEAH!

  • This (and Knuckles Chaotix) were probably the only two good games for the 32X.

  • @ArcadeOfReviews what about Space Harrier 32x, After Burner Complete, or Virtua Racing Deluxe?

  • @HyperSonicSquall OK, I missed a few.

  • 6:47 suplex (in wrestling) xD

  • lol 4:16

  • For back then this is great

  • 4:00 ken vs. chun-li

  • well its not bad considering it looks half like a tekken game ;\ but the hastle to plug this stuff

  • heh pai=pie :D

  • compleat fail >:I

  • lol ure blows are a bit overpowered.. xD

  • They really dropped the ball with the 32x. why make two 32bit systems at the same time, especially if one of them come out looking like crap. nintendo would do something similar by splitting up the development team between the virtual boy and the n64.

  • can't believe this is genesis 32x

i mean the characters are blocky but this was pretty awesome at the time

  • I've never seen it. This is a rarity. ;-) Thanks for posting it!

  • Ah I remember when giant blocks like this passed as high end graphics.

  • 3:09 - 3:11 A technique of pure win that only a master ninja can ever pull off. How ever did player 1 not lose instantly?

  • this is better than what sega saturn had to offer.

  • Wow very blocky and I used to thought the arcade version looked good back then...

  • battle of the cube freaks!

  • hes usin SAME Paul and Ninna movements ._.

  • @iMaGicRaPiZzT well first off virtua fighter came out before tekken so tekken used their moves trust me

  • WTF y this moves r the same like tekken???????

  • @iMaGicRaPiZzT Possibly because both games initially based their moves off of real fighting styles.

  • Dural 0:58

  • Isn't this the game packed with the $100 chip? Where do you insert this chip in the Genesis?

  • Not all that bad for one of the first 3d fighting games XD still makes me lawl XD

  • i like how the polygons are squares instead of triangles.

  • wow that was pretty good for a 32x game...pulled off 3d fightng pretty good....i wonder how much more the 32x could have done>?????...

  • Popularity of NAMUCO's TEKKEN is high in Europe and North America, but, in Japan, Virtua Fighter is the most popular 3D fighting game. The world's first 3D fighting game is Virtua Fighter so made a great history in the worldwide video game market. TEKKEN is superior in the reaction of the direction key and 4 operation buttons, but it's not the simulator of the martial art.

  • @doujindance not remotely true. if you look at arcadia magazine's monthly rankings for arcade game popularity, tekken is usually at the #1 spot while virtua fighter as of late is just about hanging on the charts.

  • I am glad I had VF on Saturn, but I think I fucking need it on Dreamcast too, oh why haven't I got it yet?...

  • YEAH!

  • It´s incredible how good this game looks although there are nearly no textures! I like it!

  • does anyone knows how much this game would cost today with the box and manual?..

  • i know without the box its around 3 bucks.

  • I remember owning this back in the day and accidentally unlocking new arena sizes.

  • good game but y must the music sound like a broken NES cart?

  • @0VintageGamer0 A broken NES cart? Your name is VintageGamer and you think like that?

  • Man this brings back memories.

You can definitely see how the Tekken series obviously got the inspiration for a few of their characters.

  • has anyone ever got to enter their initials after beating this version of VF1 in arcade mode? I never have. If so, then what game options were used (enemy level, life bars, etc)?

  • That version sucked. Laggy in most spots.

  • LOTS OF POLYGONS =P

  • how did u unlock dural at the select screen

  • highlight akira, flick left right left right let right a lot (swap between akira and jacky), and she'll pop in.

  • I once have an old magazine where according to them "Virtua Fighter 32X-IT'S GOT IT!"

  • 0:58 Man, that's so crazy...didn't know you could play dural in this game and I would always pass this game on expert cuz my dad was cheap and did not want to buy me anymore video games lol. i even got so one dimensional and just did a leg drop kick with wolf or jeffrey to pass the game.

  • why did they even release the 32x?

  • To give the poor man a 32 Bit option.

32X's Doom and Virtua Fighter 1 were better than their Saturn counterparts surprisingly.

If the Saturn never came out, 32X would have been much more popular, and more developed into a real system.

  • 32x rocked, I liked the games !

  • Man I know Genocyde83. I feel so old when it comes to video games. lol

  • The 32X may have been a complete marketing failure, but you gotta admit, they were able to do some pretty cool stuff with the Genesis.

  • @leatherwings007

you have to feel sorry for the genesis though for having so many orafice raping addons.

Although Im sure some genesises enjoyed being penetrated without question.

  • @leatherwings007 virtua racing deluxe makes up for any and all bull shit involved

  • Odd how this version was closer to the arcade original than the Saturn version was ._.

  • In what way was it closer to the arcade than the Saturn version? The Saturn version had more polys, better music, better sound effects, better looking ground textures, etc.

  • However the Saturn version was rushed, it was riddled with graphical bugs and didn't take full advantage of the Saturn else it'd have been arcade perfect and may have outdone Battle Arena Toshinden for the PSX. The 32X version was pretty much the best 32X game developed, and it played as well as the arcade version, without the glitches present in the rushed Saturn version.

  • Saturn's got the looks and sound but it doesn't really save it from having shitty gameplay with all the graphical glitches XD.

  • You're right that Saturn VF1 was rushed. Sega AM2 had about 5 months to put the game together. They did a tremendous job considering. If only they had a few more months...look what AM3 did with the Remix follow-up. The graphical bugs were a minor annoyance that had no effect on gameplay. I love the 32X, but the Saturn version wins by a mile. BTW, the last Toshinden game was on the PS1, I believe. There's a reason that series died.

  • @AmAxel35 they redid it and called it virtua fighter remix, which is much better. they both fall short of virtua fighter 5 though.

  • The 32X version looks like the Saturn version after being smeared with shit. The poly count is much lower, it's laggy as hell, and the audio is shit.

  • Its not all that bad.

  • Horrible music. The music on the dkc games on snes sound 10 times better and thats on a 16 bit system. 32x bytes!

  • @pspuser65

You can't compare SNES DSP audio to Genesis FM Synth. 2 diff. technologies.

The 32x audio specs are: Stereo 10-bit PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) mixing with Mega Drive/Genesis sound for a total of 12 audio channels of varying capability, 20 with the addition of a Mega-CD/Sega CD.

Most 32X games used the PWM unit to playback fixed frequency samples such as drum kits, voices, and sound effects, and having the main part of the music run from the YM2612 and PSG channels [FM Synthesis].

  • Funny piledrivers...

  • its amazing that despite the crude graphics, how similar the game play is in the later versions of VF. I think this game was great for the 32x. A few more like this, and it may have lasted a bit longer.

  • its amazing how far technology has come in the past 14 years.

  • Damn...this is so old school

  • hahaha. You know it feels weird saying that about 32x, Saturn and Playstation one cause I was in middle school when they came out and I still forget how much time has gone by so fast. Shoot Ps2 and Gamecube are about to be considered old school in a few years or maybe they all ready are.

  • Apart from take a pic..

  • Normal DS can do all that stuff, dude.

  • My god the music is horrid, much prefer virtua fighter remix on saturn.

  • dude your health goes down WAAY too fast, i mean, three hits and your dead? thats a bit crazy

  • Read the description.

  • Man Pai Was hard back then.

  • Hey guys take a look at Gametrailers recent videos of the Top 10 Fighting games. They used some of my footage on their video on Virtua Fighter's part.

  • @SonicX14 and that matters WHY?!?!?!

  • @haxor758 Because I'm Batman

  • @SonicX14 .___. lolol

  • @SonicX14 So what. I'm Spartacus.

  • @GamerGuideGamerPause +1 for that, but THIS IS SPARTA!!!

  • @haxor758 because everyone calls this a shitty port

  • @HyperSonicSquall i asked that guy not u

  • yeaaaa? ok?

  • Aren't they bloody jerky, these early 3d fighters on the Saturn and Playstation? I know this isn't the Saturn, BTW, but it actually looks quite similar. Much rather have Killer Instinct anyday.

  • dural is the final of the game "virtua figther"

    0:59 excelent captured (H)

  • i always liked the music on this game

  • La 32x offre des meilleurs graphismes que la Wii !

  • I admit I fell for the hype of the 32x. But the good news is that I never had the genesis so I couldn't buy a 32x even if I wanted to. Thank goodness I didn't!!

  • これはレアだ!

  • YEA!!!! haha to think that this was top of the line graphics just a few years ago..WOW..this game used to be fun though..YEA!!!

  • lol reminds of how cheap Nintendo is making their 3d characters in wii games

  • i have to be honest, i thought the 32X was an unmitigated piece of shit, but i was always amazed at seeing this game coming out of a genesis, no matter what kind of mushroomed-shaped adapter you had to plug into it to get this!

  • I agree, Sega should have never released the Sega 32x as an add-on.

What they should have done instead was this: release the Sega Neptune in place of the 32x, Nomad, and Genesis 3; and debut it for $170.

  • So get one great system, when you could have 3 great systems!

Never the less a Sega Neptune would have been cool.

  • I'd rather just take the Neptune. XD

The Nomad had a power life of just 2 hours, the Genesis 3 was too much, and the 32x was only useable if someone already had a Genesis.

  • Genesis 3, I think there's quite a large army of people out there that would never ever detest to anything with the Genesis logo on it.

Every one had and loved a Genesis, why would anyone detest to something that would only allow you indulge and improve in the greatness of the Genesis.

And The Nomad stands in the same position.

For the Genesis lovin' crowed that hates to leave your Genesis at home, no you don't have too!

And I would personally detest that the Nomad has such a short battery life

  • I have a Game Gear which lasts hours longer than everyone said it would.

I assume the Nomad is no different.

    Plus a more developed processor is only going to use less battery, (well in terms of SEGA logic{ the DS clearly negates this to a terrible extent)}

Plus, it isn't like the stupid PSP, you don't need to buy a whole new collection of games, just take your already massive Genesis collection with you.

It hogged the market thoroughly and so indulgence in it was negation to the product but in

  • fact a benefaction.

  • I know! I wish it weren't true also! Unfortunately I have it, and it's true... :(

Not only that, the system itself costed around $400 while the Genesis was less than $200, so there was no point really.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal over the Sega Game Gear's battery life. In fact, its battery life is a little bit longer than the Nintendo DS.

I like the Sega Game Gear because it is a true portable gaming system. The Gameboy is junk, you have to point it to sunlight while playing.

  • The Playstation Portable, in my opinion, is a great portable gaming console. :)

Its graphics and sound are really good, and it competes with the DS in every possible way.

The only flaw I have found with it that really matters is the loading time. Usually I don't mind it, but it gets annoying sometimes.

  • I find it to be very poor consisting in quality if in the any quality that it might have.

It has terrible ergonomics, terrible disc reading technology, and its graphical effects regardless of their realism as graphic and sound quality are most definitely not accountable for quality of which even in the realism aspect all demount very poorly.

The only reason why anyone would find it consisting of any quality is because of how much poorer Nintendo's contraptions demount too.

    And Nintendo extremly

  • poor quality indefinitely do not increase the quality of any other product merely showing as even worse than Sony's little toy.

  • So basically, it's like "take the PSP, it isn't as bad as the DS." XD

  • To an extent yeah.

  • This Doug guy is a fuckin' sore ass Sega fanboy. The PSP and the DS are both great

  • PSP is a much better handheld by most standards. It can log onto the internet, play music, play movies, etc.

Nintendo knew that the DS had to be improved, so they released the DSi. It is much like the DS, except you can take pics, play music, and go onto the internet.

  • well what about the psp smaller version?,forgot the name of it. horrible loading times and pretty mediocre games untill 09 wich is a god year for psp,but the system feels like a butchered ps2 to me,so what is loved on ps2 got butchered on psp.nice system but i still prefer the ds due it's inovative gameplay.

  • doode this game used to be leet. I cant believe that i beat the metal-man just with the punching and kicking buttons lol

  • I think this was one of the best games for the 32X. It showed what the 32X could really do. too bad they did not make the stand alone 32X model machine, and replace the genesis, and wait to put out the Saturn, with better more easy to program hardware. The 32x could have done much much better.

  • Comment removed

  • How on earth do you unlock Dural?!!

I've beet with every character so far and she won't appear!

  • On the 32X version, highlight Akira and keep pressing left and right.

  • Okay, thank you very very much.

Any chance you know how to do it on teh Saturn version as well?

  • for the 32x i must say this is a very good conversion

  • Not bad for a 32x

  • DS can handle 64 bit graphics. This is just barely 32 bit.

  • we of course its like a 10 year difference

  • well

  • The DS can handle a few colorful sprites moving across the two screens and some semi polygonal things.

Look why do all you care?

Why are you defending this little pen wielding, double screened thing??

  • the characters act like they have serious problems

  • Haha, he kill him when he kick the ground 1:12

  • Dougd1015:

You don't know much about game systems, so let me explain.

This is for the Sega 32x, which was years before n64.

    Nintendo DS = N64 Graphics.

    Nuff said.

  • Yeah, short phrases that define nothing more than an insult and your opinion are always very effective at proving your point.

  • Dougd1015:

    I wasn't insulting you...

    O.O

  • Woah, that comment you posted just now that got spammed, I so remember saying that!

It was on that Michael Jackson in Sonic 3 video.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, neither you or I are getting anywhere in this discussion.

Just for once in the year, can we just put this aside and celebrate teh birth of Christ,

  • Celebrate the birth of christ? I am far from a Christian, screw Christianity.

  • Agreed.

  • also theres people from tekken but diffrent names, for instince, sarah is from tekken, and so is pai's dad(forgot his name but i do know pais dad is named jacky in tekken, and sarah and jacky (not from tekken)are not brother and sister(not in tekken) instead, thats her dad

  • I could say that your comment is typical for Sony-Nerds, but maybe you just don´t know better. VF was long before Tekken and they didn´t copy anything.

  • i think your statement requires an oppsosite revision

  • lol low played

  • Virtua Fighter was made back in 1993. Tekken was made in 1994. Don't call something from the past a rip-off of something from the future.

  • he didnt he just said it looked like it...and it does regardless of which one is older

  • why where so many arcade games screwed upcompared to its arcade cousins on sega home consoles.

  • i remember the ad for this in one of my old sonic comics ^_^

  • Really?!

    What issue, I must know!

That would have been so cool to see a 32X Virtua Fighter advertisement in one of my older Sonic comics.

I have issue 0 and there's an advertisement for Sonic T%he Hedgehog for the Game Gear in it.

  • im not sure really :s but i still got em all and i think its one of the early ones its in

  • It would have to be since this game came out in 95, only two years after the series was launched.

  • YEAH!

  • i can't believe I used to think it was awesome to have Virtua Fighter on my 32X. i was all like lol at Saturn, i dun need u.

tho I liked how the music as a taste of Genesis added to it.

but I'll still take the Saturn over over this...

  • Same here.

It is cool to have Virtua Fighter for the 32X and all the great cartridge charms, but the Saturn port is still better in my opinion.

  • I think firtua fighter kids for the saturn looks really cool.

  • Me too.

I really wanna play it on my Saturn!

  • Don't worry jesus32X.

I'll be warming up my Sega Nomad plenty.

But wouldn't be cool if I could get he Sega Power Base Converter?

Then I'd have three generations of gaming all in one.

That would by Sega Genesis the ultimate console.

Of course the Saturn will always be my favorite a Genesis with and 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-Bit processors would be cool. ^_^

  • Yes, I know what you mean.

I play all my systems frequently.

    Especialy my Sega systems!

I don't ever want them to die!!

My SNES and Nintendo 64 however are never played.

    I want them to die!

  • They've been coped up in the closet deliberately not being played for years.

  • Actually wait, I personly like 32X's cause theres something weird about it that I can't really explain. Sort of like the game engines been tampered with, like its broken(maybe something to do with it being on a weird hitachi 32bit addon running through a 16bit machine!?) But it works so well that theres just something smooth and balanced about it. But I love how Saturns music sounds and how Saturns looked. I just PERSONALLY did not enjoy fighting engine as much as 32X'S TRIPPY fights

  • Hey are you kidding?!!

Yes it is my personal opinion that the Saturn's version is better (not the 32X version isn't also great) but I do in fact love the 32X.

I bought one a couple months back and really love playing it.

But don't worry you won't see me fussing about the 32X.

The Sega Saturn is my fav system but the 32X is an extremely close second.

And personally I plan on getting all the kick ass versions that were made of Virtua Fighter soon.

  • Nomad= hang on, Sonic 3D!

Genesis= starflight, shining in the darkness

    DREAMCAST= shenmue!, ecco

    Gamegear= ecco, defenders of oasis

    Mega CD= Road avenger!, thunderhawk!

    32X= Shadow squadron, virtua fighter.

Saturn= Panzer dragoon Saga RPG!, Sega rally.

those consoles I had were mad!, beautiful!. I'll never forget them. Those are 2 games that spring to mind for each system. The nomad with sonic 3D looked mezmerizing on high rez LCD I can't explain it. It was ment to look good on a tv!

  • Funny you mention the Nomad, I just learned about it yesterday and considering buying it.

All those systems are great and I already have a few of them and plan to get more soon.

Like the Master System and the Dreamcast and the Sega CD.

But right now I do have the Sega Saturn and the Sega Genesis+32X.

    All classics.

  • Yip, nomad was my dream console, since gamegear 2 never came out. The prototype G.G 2 was just as good to me, I didn't care about the big cartrige or batterie pack at all. Kind of like its prototypeness!, Get colourfull games for it if you do, cause dark games are grainy. But I DON'T mind, I mean it is 13 years old. Mine still works great. THAT 3 in 1 with columns and hangon almost never comes out. Columns puts me to sleep on occasion, which is what I want it to do late at night.

  • Its a very special thing for me to find someone like you who appreciates the 32X like me.

And the Sega Nomad was great as well.

But I have had the most terrible time deciding what would be a better choice.

Which system do you think I should get first, the Sega Power Base Converter, or the Sega Nomad?

And please if you get the chance accept my friend invite.

I would love to be friends with someone like you to whom I have said really does appreciate how great Sega consoles are.

    Especially the 32X.

  • well, I'm guessing the converters not as expensive, I don't know. But the Nomads definatly a magic piece of equipment. The converter will most definatly work, the nomads the more dodgey buy (LCD screen is delicate). But if it works on arrival it will work for the next 8/10 years easy (I believe!). The nomad is the gamegear 2 prototype. But its a pretty big purchase I think, Ive read that a few peoples nomads died. But I don't sense that with mine. The trick is to warm it up at least once a week.

  • as in, turn it on once a week.., cause consoles die when they feel they have no use anymore. You've got to let it know that it won't be left alone in a cupboard forever. Imagine how it would feel if it thought it would never live its purpose again! ha ha.

  • well theres no hissing on my 32X!

  • Tekkens were my fav 2 player, destroying people with that indian chick team, and the king team are some of my favourite gaming memories, sometimes not having to even tag the other character once made me feel like a powerful gamer(ha ha). I played all the tekkens, But the fights in VF124,where intense, versatile and so precise it was scary. Even if they didn't have the exellent ring out aspect it still would be the most harecore in depth heart pounding 2 player. It was just a little bit to much

  • Other than models, the engine is great.
