One day, my internet went out while I was on AT&T, I waited a weekend, I called customer service, and it took my three hours to get to a representative, or so I thought. They said that the rep will be with me shortly, which he wasn't. I waited for 30 minutes with the phone on speaker, and all I heard was elevator music. I switched to Comcast then, and its better, but I download ALOT. =(
@Zadius895 Sounds like me, my area apparently had the fiber optic wires run through and as my other comment, AT&T was pushing me to get U-Verse which is redundant since I have DirectTV (and the only complaint I have is the cable box frying out after a bad update and they took off G4) and I have my wires where I want them I can't fiddle with them just to add another box for U-Verse, I am not made of money, I can't afford 300 a year (or was it a month?).
I was only getting about 1-2Mbps out of my promised 10Mbps with Optimum Online. This drove me to almost switch to FiOS, but when I called to tell Cablevision they begged me not to switch and offered to rewire my entire house and give me their top tier plan for no extra charge.
So now I get 50Mbps down and 10Mbps up for only $30 a month! :D

Verizon did the same thing to me Chris. I set up auto-pay, the day I got my iPhone, only to realize 30 days later via phone call that my bill was late. I told them the situation and they told me I needed to pay manually the first month, even though auto-pay was already set up. I ended up having to pay like a $20 late fee. I was pissed.

In the last month I've had my connection drop about a dozen times ! I keep having to shut down the modem and plug in a line booster . Then 12 hours later again shut down turn off the booster plug the modem back in . Then repeat the whole process ! I've been running the booster for about a week and no dropping finally . I think I can safely say almost everyone who's had a comcast account had some run in with an f&*ktard of a CSR. I had one CSR through chat actually cut my internet connection off and I had to call service phone line to reactivate my account. If I could switch to some fiber network I would jump ship as well. We also now have Comcast Business due to caps on the residential account. With a family of 4 streaming video the cap is rediculous.
I still use a dial-up internet connection, takes me a DAY and a half to load a page and about a WEEK to download a mp3 file, and about a MONTH to download a movie .
I was getting 25 MB down the other night from Charter on a residential connection. Charter is pretty much the opposite of Comcast. Their tv sucks, but the Internet is pretty good.
250 is more than enough for me. i only use about 10-15 percent of that and me and my family use internet everyday. i agree comcast is expensive. BTW how whats your speed??
I hate Comcast. Had them for years. My family switched to an AT&T bundle plan with DirectTV. The internet is slower, but the service was so much better, I got AT&T internet for my apartment. It's fine for my uses (granted it's the fastest DSL offered, but nowhere close to what cable can do).
The funny thing is if you say even one of the mild *bleeps* chris uses, in his IRC channel, the admins will ban you faster than light speed.... *sigh*
Chris, have you considered talking to your community board leaders lately? Between them and the zoning permits, this would be the first action to start with if you want services to improve.

I just wish ATT Uverse was real fast becuase i like theyre price plans better than comcasts but i think comcast has faster service. Tests were done on comcast (forgot who) and they actually cap u whenever they want.

@10mb/s Chris understand that they will lie to you... i supposedly have "15mp/s" for 19,99 for first 6 mnths (wich they didnt want to give me..) and the rep (only one of them told me this) informed me that the actual speed is specific on your area. I was told my internet will not go faster than 6mb/s i said fine.. i still want my 19.99 per month dont care what speed it says LMAO btw 12mp/s was my current plan and cost me over $30/mo thats why i took the switch to a promo.

btw chris never use theyre ecobill garbage becuase you wont know whats going on with ur service make them waste paper, it costs them, not you money... and you can view ur account status online donot trust them to autopay crap. i pay manually speficly because i donot trust them or theyre constant changing fees. Stay ontop of your game, it took me 7hrs and over 5 reps (6 if u count the other day)...they all lied to me not to do theyre job, don't fall for it, be persistant,i now have my promo peace

wow chris i just got back from cust service.. i went through 5 reps. All of wich lied about the special packadge i was elible for. (says current cust. only online offer 19.99 6/mo)... they did everything not to give me the packadge even the guy who FINALLY set me up for it.. tried not to do it. The man kept writting online that i was not eligble(i went through phone reps but found internet chat more quicker) WHEN I READ THE DETAILS TO HIM he finally went ahead and set me up after 7hrs.. damn O_o

Verizon did the same thing to me Chris. I set up auto-pay, the day I got my iPhone, only to realize 30 days later via phone call that my bill was late. I told them the situation and they told me I needed to pay manually the first month, even though auto-pay was already set up. I ended up having to pay like a $20 late fee. I was pissed.

100 Mbit is quite common for those of us who live in apartments in Sweden. I can get a 1 Gbit connection if I want to, but it's a little bit too expensive. 49 US dollars for a 100 Mbit connections is my limit.

In the last month I've had my connection drop about a dozen times ! I keep having to shut down the modem and plug in a line booster . Then 12 hours later again shut down turn off the booster plug the modem back in . Then repeat the whole process ! I've been running the booster for about a week and no dropping finally . So hopefully what ever they were screwing with is fixed ! Now they claim they upped the speed ! Yah right how many times have they said that ! Price keeps climbing ;-/ >Con-Cast

I think I can safely say almost everyone who's had a comcast account had some run in with an f&*ktard of a CSR. I had one CSR through chat actually cut my internet connection off and I had to call service phone line to reactivate my account. If I could switch to some fiber network I would jump ship as well. We also now have Comcast Business due to caps on the residential account. With a family of 4 streaming video the cap is rediculous.

I hate Comcast. Had them for years. My family switched to an AT&T bundle plan with DirectTV. The internet is slower, but the service was so much better, I got AT&T internet for my apartment. It's fine for my uses (granted it's the fastest DSL offered, but nowhere close to what cable can do).
