I don't wont to be rude but...I want to help the poor in India but not all of them..Of my time that i have spent there i have learn that being poor to someone is job, because they are lazy i learn that from People In India...If is someone interested you will be able soon to watch my new video of traveling true India cheers and nice vid btw!
Temples cost money to build that is not to say they are not important they inspire so many persons and remind us of the divine there is need for institutions as these and i am sure the temple does its' part to help others the question is what are you doing?
To hk50, Those sculptors who made money out of this temple were also not rich people. You cannot pass money to poor for free, you have to give them work and that work is the construction of this temple.
BAPS runs thousands of its own charity programs....what have you done to help the poor in India....go help them.. don't come here and blabber such things....do a little research first...
I visited Akshardam last year and it's even better in person. For a foreigner, I really enjoyed that boat ride through India's history. Those carved elephants outside were phenomenal.

@Dbca999: totally agree, if you want to help the poor then give them jobs, not handouts.
