What's the movie near the beginning where the woman throws her change into the guy's coffee cup? I swear that scene has been bubbling in my brain forever, I just don't remember what the hell it was.
Which is why everytime one of those jackass writers gets some piece-of-shit rom-com screenplay, like those shown above, greenlighted by a studio exec, both the screenwriter and exec who okayed it both have to have ten hairs tweezed from their groin, preferrably the ballsack area. If it's a woman writer, then straight from the taint. This is why I and other men don't go to rom-coms, because they're reliably stupid, and all get bad reviews.
@mscocorosie In the groin, it's the perineum, the area between the anus and vagina, in a man underneath the scrotum next to the anus. It's an old joke because it "taint" pussy, and it "taint" asshole. Get it?
@mscocorosie I don't know about blunt, I was just trying to be straightforward and anatomically correct. I'm not embarassed to say words that are the proper names for the twisty bits, Penis, Vagina, Scrotum, Labia, Anus, Perineum, etc. are all just labels. Blunt to me has always described a certain lack of subtlety, or tact. In this case, there's really no way to be subtle without confusing the issue, so I just laid it out as diplomatically as possible.
They pick clumsiness because it's not a big deal for the target audience. Even a clumsy chick can't mess up the simple act of lying still with her legs open.
While it's a damn good montage, the Heartbreaker's clip doesn't fit in here. Paige fell because her mother deliberatly shoved her foot under her to make her fall for a con. The character isn't actually in any way clumsy, just cursed with a jerk mother.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer did it perfectly. She was beautiful but outcast because of her calling. She was tough but still vulnerable. She was the hero but was drawn to the darkness like a magnet.
Fucking Joss Whedon created a character that didn't have to be a clumsy idiot to be relatable. I'm a guy and I totally relate to Buffy. Why can't hollywood get it right?
In fairness to the movie "Hitch," Will Smith -does- kick Eva Mendes in the head. I can understand falling into the sea after being kicked with some force in the head while perched on a jetski. That's forgivable. The rest? Unforgivable. I'm male and I'm tired of seeing beautiful actresses playing beautiful clichés. By the looks of it, so do those watching and commenting on this video.
The problem: Audiences have to be able to identify and sympathize with your main character. She must be just flawed enough to seem realistic, but not so flawed and realistic that it reminds the audience what losers they are.
@soapygirl83 On top of kissing another guy right in front of the guy she's supposed to marry, letting a bunch of people kill each other over her safety without so much as caring, having absolutely no interests, suffering from co-dependence issues to the point that she hallucinates whenever she's in danger, so she purposely endangers herself, even tries to kill herself, just to get mental images of her 'true love?'
Bella Swan's one character flaw is that she's a horrible character as a whole.
@ERoBB1 Did you miss the opening quote? Do you really need me to explain the intent of this video? Do you??? Please see the quote by @emoasfxck and do the same
@ERoBB1 Let me break it down because you're comprehension is that of a 3 yr old. Men write scripts about women. Men make women fall down. Those films = bad for women. Bad for women because it makes them look like fools who need men. Did you get my point or do you need more help?
They have to be flawed to be realistic and likable, but not actually flawed because the audience has to be behind them 100%. Ambiguity, such as an actually flawed protagonist, Hollywood don't want that shyyaaat.
@explodingplant2 Yep, totally right, why bother creating a complex character with some bad aspects like every one else when can just make her a little gooffy.
@explodingplant2 SIR! You have paraphrased that from this CRACKED article! cracked.com/blog/6-obnoxious-assumptions-hollywood-makes-about-women/ Please give credit where it is due!

@puff222001 Hollywood generally likes everyone getting hurt both emotionally and physically. Hence the conflict at the core of most big budget films.
