  • Probably one of the earliest environmental songs... And besides that the song and the clip are brilliant... Love Olivia...

  • Interesting.

  • Lovin 1:08 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • There is also a Marvin, Welch and Farrar version - I think that is the original version. Search for it on YouTube, and find out how great MWF were by looking at some of their other songs as well!

  • this song used to make me cry.

  • other then pestisides what is she talking about.

    michelle landry

  • I loved this and still do.

  • I never thought I would hear a song about the enviroment and psticides!!!???

  • this song was "green" DECADES before everyone jumped on the bandwagon !!

  • @Orca40 Silvery Rain is about polution, nuclear attacks, and chemical warfare.

  • Beautiful song, great message from 1981 that has more meaning now in 2011 30 years later. Olivia was ahead of her time as far as videos go MTV would not debut for a few more years.

  • @MrCejays You are absolutely right. MTV, one of the raunchiest channels in America, still has limits on what videos they will show. 235 years later, America is still Christian prudish. Up yours, Catholic Church!

  • @HeartBDoctor

    AMEN TO THAT !! LOL

  • @HeartBDoctor Amen buddy :)

  • Very beatiful song...

  • I LOVED this song. It was my fave on the "Physical" album. I didn't know there was a video for this. She looks like a crazed Tammy Wynette mixed with Jane Lynch in this clip.

  • her songs really do have good messages though , this one is about the earth and how we are destroying it with pollutants , i love her music

  • @emily2u97 Also about nucler and chemical wafare.

  • @HeartBDoctor Yes , also that

  • Olivia is my favorite singer and my inspiration and im 13 , and she has inspired me to be healthy and ive lost 25 lbs in tha past month , and have 50 to go , her music is so amazing and she sings like a angel and i hope i have the chance to meet her someday

  • Radical for the time. But considering we are now in 2010 thank God we never ended up in her world.

  • You are the one over all.... the best... thanks for being there again, I'll see you soon in Santiago, Chile.

  • Ahhh the good music, I wish todays musicans would take lessions from these artists of the past and do music right instead of all the wierd stuff their doing. This was THE era of True good music take lessions and Learn, these are the God Fathers and mothers of Music for the Future...

  • this song is about two parakeets named peeter and pall that used to live with olivia but the mafia came one day and whacked them.

  • This is a great song sung brilliantly by Cliff Richard.

  • so amazing......

  • Dedicated to the wildlife trapped in the Gulf of Mexico...Fly away while you can.......

  • @Orca40 Well, As I see it, In the begining of the video she emerges from a ' bio dome' wearing a ' protective suit' of sorts, ( notice the ventilation hose and helmet that floats off) This is deffinitely set in a post ' we really screwed the earth over' era after so much polution ( Silvery rain) has hit the earth because of us that now its commng from the sky ( In the form of Acid rain). No animals exist, and the few humans left cant escape. ' before theres nothing left to fly at all'.

  • love this, reminds me of me..a bit weird but cool lol

  • @Orca40 It's about Polution

  • this almost has a kate bush feel to it

  • this almost has a kate bush feel to it

  • Brilliant Video and Brilliant Song !!! Brilliant Olivia !!!

  • A kooky video, but a beautiful, beautiful song!

  • Written by Hank B. Marvin from The Shadows... there is another version by Cliff Richard (with Hank on acoustic guitar) and Hank Marvin also does an instrumental only version on The Hank Marvin Syndicate, from where Jay-Z stole the sample for "Pray" in American Gangster. Imagine Jay-Z being a closet HBM fan.

  • I never seen this video before... very nice, thanks for posting.

  • Olivia was always willing to take chances. They may not have been as commercially successful as this one (ie Soul Kiss, my favorite CD believe it or not!) but as a musician's mom I must say she is a great role model for artists who don't want to do things by a dot-the-lines formula...

  • @gillfamilync

it's taken me a long time to find this song(20+yrs) and still amazingly brillant!

  • No doubt, this one of my favorites videos.. very advanced way to make a clip for that time...

  • what a beautiful song!!!!

  • wow, haven't seen this for a long while. it's very david bowie *visually* at the time. thanks for posting.

  • The mandolin player certainly looks like him

  • and I remember reading that every video director back then was told to burn out the whites!

  • one of my favorites from this album. I think this was the first album to have a video collection.

  • Love this song! I fell in love with it when Olivia did an HBO special and performed it there.

Weird video. ;-) LOL! Well, it was the 80's!!
