His music instills a memory of young love once experienced and enjoyed as only two people in love could feel. Even today hearing this song again brings me to a time that goes back to my early years of marrage. Great lyrics and done well by an artist that knew exactly how to put it all togther to make it a classic.
First live album I bought was "Frampton Comes Alive", the second album of his that I bought was "I'm In You". Still love ya, Peter. Seen him live too, one of the greatest guitarist ever. He even played the drums on this album if I remember correctly.
"I'm In You" proved for Peter Frampton there was life after "Frampton Comes Alive". The LP's title track peaked @ #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in July 1977! I agree with the previous poster when he said "Build me a time machine & leave me in the '70s.". My thoughts exactly!
MY SONG TO MY BOYFRIEND MICHAEL LIDDELL~~ THANKS FOR TAKING ME TO SEE PETER FRAMPTON HE WAS EXCELLENT.. AND THIS IS OUR FOREVER SONG AS YOU AND I BOTH HAVE SAID!!~~ I LOVE YOU BABE~~~~~
Summer of 76 - best year ever. Bruce and I must have listened to this song and the rest of Framton Live a buzzillion times...by the lake.....I would go back to that time in a heartbeat
This song is still amazing 34 yrs after I first heard it...I was 8 yrs old and just loved it..it's a great love song period! The line is "you can't buy what we made", by the way! Sending this out to my new lady Michiele, can't wait for our future together..
@chavaleah812 I agree. For years my peer group sang the lyric as: "Can't deny what we've made, you and I"...there were A LOT of my peers who got pregnant in h.s. (when this song was out) many who chose abortion, some who chose adoption and others who chose to see the pregnancy through and keep the child (regardless of whether they got married/stayed with father). Needless to say, we thought the song was about an unplanned pregnancy. But now I hear the true lyric similar to what you wrote above.
And another amazing tid bit about this song is that peter performed this on a 2 track tape machine live vocal's and piano.Brought It into the studio and we Over-dubbed the rest which included peter playing the drum's In another studio{B] while we were in studio A at Electriclady with Chris Kimsey and I.
Thank's for the comment's as far as far as performing this live,At one point he did And It was the encore,Last song just piano and vocal.I have seen peter in recent times and this song does not fit into his full sounding set,In my opinion Its lackluster live sound is not as good as the record as we all know.As far as any baggage or bad memories Yes of course, there my be,But I think he does not do It because it does not come off live just piano and vocal with the band he had and has now.
WHAT??? Someone tried to make this into some sick type sex thing? I'm going to find you and kick your ass! Frampton deserves MUCH MORE RESPECT! As for the wackos, I'm sure there is a XXX store in your town, please go there, bye!
I have not heard this song since I was a teen in the seventies, but I heard it on Sirius yesterday, a day in Chicago when we celebrate all orientations, and the lyrics made me think: "a love that I never had" and "I'm in you, you're in me." @steverid Peter commented on his Facebook not long ago that he does not like to perform this live... he just doesn't feel it.... He must have some specific memories attached to it.
@AGirlNamedSuz Hi AGNS,I believe you have It wrong,That is a profound statement made many times by everyone who realize's that a feeling is not for sale.A feeling can be purchased for temporary or Instant gratification,But the deeper heart of heart kind of stuff pass through few and far between in our lives.FDxx
@juliadennehy - '70s were the absolute best in music. Back then they would play absolutely anything on the radio as long as it was good or even semi-interesting, it didn't matter what genre it was, what style, what fashion, none of that mattered it would still get on the top 40 radio stations. None of this totalitarian crap like today where only the musical tastes of gay men and 12 year old girls are played. None of this Lady Ga Ga crap or muscle bound gangsta rappers appealing to gay white boys
@juliadennehy I miss the 70's too...drop me back there again and dont bother looking for me ever again. This is when music was music...love was love...and ideals were ideals.
@deborah12470 I miss the cars. Each car was easily distinguishable just from its' shape. Try to distinguish an Accord from a Camry from a Taurus from any other 4 door tin can toaster. And the chrome, all the chrome! And the click click of the 8 track in the Maverick. You Frampton fans are the coolest of the cool... you all "get it." The 70's will never die as long as we hold the memories dear in our hearts.
@BBQFanNo1 Thank you, exactly!!! That is what I have always thought when I hear this song! Brought it up in bible study once and they looked at me like I was crazy. Glad to have a kindred spirit out there.

Yep it`s amazing what the general public does`nt know about songs, Especially 60`s and 70`s the famous contract musicans that were put to work doing guest spots on other musicans albums.
Also in1976's Frampton Comes Alive became the best-selling live album of all time and held that title for more than 20 years.
Frampton was nearly killed in a car crash in the Bahamas in 1978
He became a U.S. citizen and political activist following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001
I love the little play that Frank Zappa portrays this idiot... Take him to your teenage room with your teenage light with the teenage red bulb and listen to PF whisper in your ear... " I'm In You!!!"
He looks and sounds like an angel here. He's given us some magical classic songs that we lived our lives to back then. Poetic and harmonious songs that gladden the heart.
Love was new, exciting... beautiful. The sand was warm, the music hot, the heart open and free. Blankets and drinks on the beach, arms and legs entangled... we were swept away. Those are the days we remember... and will cherish forever.

Greetings EGAYGIGI. I thank you kindly for this great song. I remember his music like if it was yesterday. This song remains me of someone very especial. Now she is gone but like they say "Everything happens for a reason" I must move on with my life and Thank God for everything that I have. Yes I am also a Music Lover. I can live without television but please don't take the music away. Have a beautiful week. MAYANGOD1ISBACK
And to the person who thought this was about sex,is totally wrong,it's the deeper
love he's talking about and of course his music that is inside of you,He is not the kind of person that play's the cheap shot, were sex sell's that was the farthest thing on his
mind,"Im in you" goe's way beyond physical believe me or dont.
@frankiedaugusta Good insight....If one is part of this generation as am I...and likely you....we understand that it was about the essence as opposed tot he physical...Peace
My sister had this on cassette when it first came out and, I think, I played it more than SHE did. My older sister, by 7 years, btw. I guess I knew I liked great music at an early age.
Great song. It remains me the 70's when Peter Frampton was on all the TOP CHARTS. God bless him for all his music. This song gets me sentimental. Thank you, I know she loves me somewhere in her beautiful heart. MAYANGOD1ISBACK!
Linda, muita lida essa música, Lambra-me deveras um amor que durou pouco, mas o pouco durou e sobreviveu os tempos. Era o tempo da Iedinha, voltando dos USA.
... But as always, Frampton persevered, proving the critics wrong when the controversial ballad became his biggest selling single to date, and landed #2 for three weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts in June of 1977, only to be unseated by Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke" and KC & The Sunshine Band's "I'm Your Boogie Man."
Many things have changed throughout the past 33 years, but the one thing that's remained persistent, has been the memory and music of "Peter Frampton." In 1977, Frampton received unjust criticism over his now 'legendary' summertime power ballad, "I'm In You." Music critics dismissed the song as too "mainstream" and too "soft" compared to Frampton's earlier hits "Show Me The Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."
@70sPopRock Yea,your correct on that one,But what do critics know???They don't create they talk or write and I will tell you first hand that we toured the US and Canada that summer supporting the album and we were performing to sellout crowds everywhere,No less than 20.000 per night all the way up to 103.000 people at RFK in philly. We also started out In the with a Lear than to a Falcon?? then to lynard skynard's plane, which we had for about 2 wks,got bad vibes, then a 4 eng turbo prop, viscount.
I had a discussion with peter about the word "YOU" He told to me why he uses It in a lot of his song's.He said quote It brings the people into what you are doing or saying and makes It very personal. Its an Interactive word that In many of his lyric's,YOU,YOUR,WE, US, I took that info a wrote a song that got me a record deal on Epic
In 1980 for 2 album's and the songs Ch's was Ooh do you like a good thing YOU,I really wanna know,That song
This song just takes me back instantly, one a handful of songs that are truly time-travel. Just an absolute utter classic! And a classic photo pose too.
A lot of people think this song is kinky but really I think it can be taken other ways also. to me its about loving somone so much that you feel like your part of them and vice versa. IM IN YOU YOUR IN ME! I love this song that was popular when I was only nine and I can also think of many crushes that this song brings back memories about when I got to be older. Just a beautiful love song!
@newradfan1 Thank You for the insightful comment. When P.F. was becoming super-popular, some photographer asked him to pose with his shirt open. He was an immaculate guitarist, and when he did so his serious image vanished forever! Millions of guitar fans then saw him as only a pretty boy faking as a musician. I was fourteen, and never bought another album because of this. It ruined his career!
@dynagravitomagnetic Yes , I agree that it did do a lot of harm to his career, but I always looked at the talent and not what they looked like or how they dressed! Framptom was an unbelievable talent and good looking but I think his record company ruined it for him. I really loved this song and album ! But pretty boy looks and top forty pop did not bother me like it did a lot of his old fans. I thought a lot of his fans needed to lighten up.
@newradfan1 It didn't bother me in the least... there were alot of 'pretty faces' to choose from in the 70's... but if they weren't playing a mean guitar... I was not interested... I fell in love with the guitar first... the pretty face was just an added bonus! ;^)
@newradfan1 I've never thought of this song as "kinky", and I still don't get it. A song that really COULD be taken a certain way is "Don't Pull Your Love" by Hamilton, Joe, Fank, and Reynolds.
John Ritter displayed this album on the Three's Company season 2 episode CYRANO DE TRIPPER. Ritter asked Suzanne Somers,"What's more important than Peter Frampton?" Somers replies,"Michael Winthrop",referring to her character Chrissy Snow's boyfriend. RIP John Ritter 1948-2003
yer a chump, pal. Millions of us had our first love affair to this song and you gotta make stupid comments about a great musician. Go back to your marilyn manson tripe that Cooper did better 20 years before.
Can't even compare the 2. manson is so much harder then alice cooper ever was. The only thing i guess you could compare is the look of old manson to alice cooper.
I had the pleasure,And I assure you the pleasure of engineering some of this record
with Chris Kimsey,It was a wonderful,Sometimes nerve racking exp,Just think of the preasure Peter had from the Record co,The public,Himself,To come up with somethin
After FCA,Most artist 2nd album is hard to make,In his case it was harder because
he was in compitition with himself,Im so happy to see that people had their first
Love and I had my first during the making of this album.
wonderfully done!!! Born on Earth Day. Didnt know that!!! I was like 8 when this song came out, and I have loved it every since. So much passion, I do believe he is telling the truth when he says "I cannot sing anymore than I am feeling" the song and the voice shouts what love and passion truly sound like.
His music instills a memory of young love once experienced and enjoyed as only two people in love could feel. Even today hearing this song again brings me to a time that goes back to my early years of marrage. Great lyrics and done well by an artist that knew exactly how to put it all togther to make it a classic.

This is a great song; sure it's low key and slow but variety is good when you hear good tunes like this one.

70sPopRock 1 year ago
Many things have changed throughout the past 33 years, but the one thing that's remained persistent, has been the memory and music of "Peter Frampton." In 1977, Frampton received unjust criticism over his now 'legendary' summertime power ballad, "I'm In You." Music critics dismissed the song as too "mainstream" and too "soft" compared to Frampton's earlier hits "Show Me The Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."
70sPopRock 1 year ago

In 1980 for 2 album's and the songs Ch's was Ooh do you like a good thing YOU,I really wanna know,That song
called"GOOD THING"Frankie Eldorado.

Just a beautiful love song!
newradfan1 2 years ago 21
@newradfan1 Thank You for the insightful comment. When P.F. was becoming super-popular, some photographer asked him to pose with his shirt open. He was an immaculate guitarist, and when he did so his serious image vanished forever! Millions of guitar fans then saw him as only a pretty boy faking as a musician. I was fourteen, and never bought another album because of this. It ruined his career!
dynagravitomagnetic 1 year ago
@dynagravitomagnetic Yes , I agree that it did do a lot of harm to his career, but I always looked at the talent and not what they looked like or how they dressed! Framptom was an unbelievable talent and good looking but I think his record company ruined it for him. I really loved this song and album ! But pretty boy looks and top forty pop did not bother me like it did a lot of his old fans. I thought a lot of his fans needed to lighten up.
newradfan1 1 year ago
@newradfan1 It didn't bother me in the least... there were alot of 'pretty faces' to choose from in the 70's... but if they weren't playing a mean guitar... I was not interested... I fell in love with the guitar first... the pretty face was just an added bonus! ;^)
ForeverFrampton1 6 months ago
@dynagravitomagnetic -his role in the movie version of Sgt. Pepper didn't exactly help his career either.

@newradfan1...only if you have a one track mind do you think this song is kinky. It bears no relation to that methinks.
deeppurplealways 1 year ago
@newradfan1 I've never thought of this song as "kinky", and I still don't get it. A song that really COULD be taken a certain way is "Don't Pull Your Love" by Hamilton, Joe, Fank, and Reynolds.

Great song. However, the lyric is:
"you can't buy what we make", and not
"you can die but remain".

Vstrat0 2 years ago 21

Thank you Peter
