  • It's like a disease

  • They build in Triads, Supercenter or converted Supercenter and two Markets, they blanket populated areas even at the cost of taking business away from one another.

There is a Walmart 10 minutes away, you can find a Walmart in any location without knowing where their located, it's really brillant marketing, but at the cost of the smaller retailers.

100 years ago every town had a General Store, hardline, food, clothes, etc. Walmart is the new General Store of the world. Low prices, low wages.

  • @reeltrouble Exactly. Pathetic.

  • Walmart is a cancer this country and want to destroy the American Dream by taking out all competition. They move into small towns and suck them dry and then move out. Walmart is parasite that must end for the sake of our country. They are ran by racist and only want to hire out to illegals.

  • How many did they build near their existing store and then shut down/abandon the old location? That local governments can't stop that pisses me off.

  • Cancer..

  • Nothing but a pile of trash with a price tag! Almost everything I buy there breaks within the first couple of days or couple of months. They barely pay their employees minimum wage and then throw them away like a peice of trash when they don't perform. They have cameras to protect their stuff but when something is stolen out from your car they don't stinking care. The prices aren't lower. Flimsy, lead filled, poisionous, preserva Let's give ourselves a Christmas present and not shop there!

  • Wal-Mart sells a high quality dog food & a high quality dog teeth cleaning treat that are made in America - That's about the only quality USA made pet products in Wal-Mart . Electronics & hard goods merchandise are made in Asia.

Wal-Mart's Midwest USA competitor Meijer does a much better job identifying country of origin for grocery products. I don't trust the grocery products at Wal-Mart. The cashiers at Meijer seem to like their job. The happy Wal-Mart cashier is a rarity.

  • It looks like cancer o.O

  • I have the luxury of being both a FORMER Walmart employee AND a CURRENT Walmart employee. When I got fired, I hated Walmart instead of facing my attitude problem, but I came back; and today I think Walmart is the best company in the world. If you want to succeed there, you must respect the individual. That means co-workers, customers, management, and the company at large. Disgruntled employees bitch and moan because that is easier than manning up to their sorry, pathetic attitude issues.

  • This is what Metastasized cancer looks like.

  • Yea, so it will be on the HOTSPOT where most people gathered,.

  • There is actually no "plague" to be seen in that map at all. Except for a very narrow strip along the ocean on the west coast, 90% of the stores are all redundantly concentrated strictly in the southeast. there is virtually nothing to be seen in the entire northeast, the midwest, the northwest or southwest. It is indeed a gigantic L-shaped area of almost totally BLANK space, as if Walmart is avoiding it like... the plague!

  • @themredweirdoshow It's pretty concentrated in the northeast, FYI. The reason that the midwest, northwest and southwest have fewer Wal-Marts is because those regions have FEWER PEOPLE.

I live in Wyoming - our population barely cracks 500,000. It's obvious why we would only need 10 Wal-Marts in the entire state, and why Wal-Mart wouldn't waste so much money building new ones here.

  • Because there are barely any wal marts in the midwest thats why...and in a related note birth control boast a 98% effciency in most preventable pregancy!!

  • The only thing this proves that the midwest is still a shitty place to live :D

  • @UnRhetoricalVideos how? that makes no sense

  • i don't know why people like wal mart most of the stuff they sell is total crap- crap for sale crap for sale-- i guess the fat stupid people like to buy cheap crap

  • @lowaces Actually poor people cant afford better products. Wal-Mart pisses me off in many aspects but it does raise the standard of living for many poor people who cant afford better products.

  • @slingshot2427 i've been to wal mart enough times to know not to go there any more -- i usually end up looking at the fat people ankles as they aimlessly push thier carts around looking for crap -- now i'm more of an internet shopper

  • This is like watching a giant pimple grow on your face...and then it just keeps growing...and then you realize it isn't a pimple, it's herpes, and there are a bunch of them, all over your mouth and face. But you know what, Wal-Mart is operating a nearly perfect neoliberalist corporate model. We either need to rid ourselves of neoloberalism, the real cancer here, or learn to deal with the effects of our chosen market strategy (BTW, our market strategy is turn everything over to big business).

  • MONOPOLY

  • @bluesmaster14701 new york city and I think it's because as new yorkers we don't support big business markets like that, we like or corner stores and local grocery store cuz u can go in there and not have enough money or no money at all and they will allow u to pay them back and sometimes give u stuff for free... Big business wouldn't do that, they about.. I kno there's some in westchester and up state ny but not in manhatten or the Bronx we love local stores

  • Nice video!!

    !!!

$1,000 Walmart Gift Card Giveaways @ my channel

Check out my channel for further info!!

  • Walmart has taken over the world.

  • omg if that wil continue its wil be like BNL!!

    (frum the movie WALL-E)

  • This shit is retarted there's is not that many walmarts in ny...

  • @akasy1 i think there are over 4k walmarts and like 3.5k sam's ..then you have all the sub companys they own in the US.

i live in the town it all started in, you cant go any city in the AR/OK/MO/KS area without seeing a walmart, or a sams, or a neighborhood market. they kill the local business with low prices, drawing in consumers like sheep. During that process they also strangle vendors with twisted market tactics and the vendors continue to put up with it....because its Walmart.

  • @akasy1 New York city or New York State?

  • Wal-Mart is like the Borg...resistance is futile!

  • Walmart is like dislexsic Borg.. resistance is futile, your ass will be laminated!

  • Logistics - just like any successful total war campaign

  • I'd like to see a superimposed animation of lost manufacturing jobs since 1962.

  • So.....how many Starbucks are there?

  • @jamesn6g32 Twice as many as there are wal marts.

  • @jamesn6g32 17,133 stores in 49 countries, including 11,068 in the United States, nearly 1,000 in Canada and more than 800 in Japan.

  • f u Walmart=DDD

  • WALMART is just better at business than its competitors...

  • Or a tough to get rid of rash

  • walmart ftw

  • walmart is helping communist china destroy America

  • wrong. wall street and bxsh did it.

  • walmart- the secret weapon for global domination.

  • it is just like a zombie fest...

    Trying to overtake our society...

AND they only fire the STRONG, WISE employee - because they are smart unlike the WEAK, USED employees...

This should be posted on Fail Blog...

    SUPER FUNNY

  • Also sounds like the Soviet Union.

  • No, really. Sureree knows what he's talking about.

He may not have expressed himself eloquently, but WalMart does fire the good employees.

They do this because it's monkey work (I used to be one of their monkeys), and good employees expect raises, benefits, and tend to stay long enough to accrue more/better opportunities.

I worked at Walmart for 2 years. They keep wages down by constantly turning over their workforce. About every six months, the entire staff will be different.

  • It's completely unnecessary for them to have good, long term employees, because generally people can be taught to do any job in a Walmart store in less than a week (usually within the first day).

Good employees last longer, hence they get paid more, and have more vacation time, so they're fired for ridiculous reasons.

    It honestly happens.

That $15 per hour employee is replaced by an $8 per hour employee, and because of the nature of the work, productivity is barely lowered.

  • That's the very definition of being CORRUPT

  • Oh well... someday we'll live in a world where everyone will have an above average income.

Capitalism may be unfair, but communism is the equal distribution of poverty.

  • lol true....and not to mention that communism kills all those who oppose them. Hence communism having murdered over 115 million people

  • I used to work for Walmart. It's a TERRIBLE place to work. I love the Penn and Teller show, and generally agree with what Penn Jilette says, but he WAS painfully wrong when it comes to Walmart. Walmart is NOT good company because it gives jobs to the underclass.

Walmart TERRIBLY mistreats its underclass employees, but the only other option is a system that creates MORE underclass people to be taken advantage of by the government instead of by corporations.

    Walmart=bad.

    Alternative=worse.

  • Penn is a buffoon who thinks logic is yelling "fuck you" at the camera.

  • true communism does not kill those who oppose them.(although look at the death toll caused by "proper" government in comparison) like any belief, theory or way of life it can be held to extremes that are the result of a common day hitler ( by that i mean a great rally-er, one who has the ability to call mass hysteria frenzy and followers)

  • The same people that invented communism invented Capitalism

  • @hossrex I used to think like you do, but then I realized life is about minding your own business. Employees with respect and humility don't get fired. It is when you get bossy, or cocky, over-confident, or lax, that problems appear. The minute you think you're a "good employee", you stop being worth a dime. If Walmart strived to get rid of good employees, most management wouldn't have started off at the bottom, and the company wouldn't have hordes of 10, 20, 30, and 40 year associates.

  • @JoshuaH688: "Employees with respect and humility don't get fired."

That's not true. You've obviously never worked for Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart is monkey work. Anyone can do it. A ten year veteran making $15 dollars per hour is only going to be MARGINALLY more valuable than any idiot with an hours worth of training.

So Wal-Mart will manufacture reasons to fire people making more than a couple bucks more than minimum wage. It's impossible to prove you weren't a slow or lazy worker.

  • What the store hopes for... and I mean this with all sincerity... is that the "good" employee reapplies after 90 days (the minimum time), and rejoins the staff with a complete loss of benefits, accrued time, and wages.

It happens because it's monkey work. Anyone can do it. Some may do it better, but a monkey that can open a banana in 5 seconds isn't all that much more useful than a monkey that can open a banana in 7 seconds... especially if the first monkey wants twice as many bananas.

  • WALMART LABOR FACT: They fire all the good employees and keep the bad ones. They sometimes go on "firing sprees" the impose "hiring freezes" causing overworked, exhausted employees. They continue to look for stupid reasons to fire people such as not clocking out at 5:59 and bullshit like that!

  • They fire all 'good' employees?

A statement like that is so absurd I hardly know where to start.

For one, how successful can a company be by keeping only the slackers?

Wal-Mart has been rock-steady through this recession while the unionized US Auto companies are sinking like a rock.

Rather than trashing Wal-Mart with absurd lies and distortions, why not follow their example?

  • I know what I'm talking about because I am a FORMER Walmart employee. You obviously never have and therefore, not affected by Walmart.

  • um... im so confused... wats the point of this video?? some people just take up useful space on youtube

  • it's like a plague is spreading across america!

  • Im moving to nevada

  • Over a quarter Billion dollars were donated by Wal-mart to children's miracle network, st. joseph's hospital and other "by donations only organizations." They provide medical necessities to families of children who can't afford the costly health coverage for a cancerous children (most don't). Only in America would we protest "give more to the poor!" but protest them paying much less for food, clothes, supplies, etc. . . This country's days are numbered--due to its citizens.

  • A lot of that money that Wal-Mart donated to Children's Miracle Network came from employee's and customers. I'm not sure of the percentage, but I would be willing to bet the majority of it came from the employee's and the customer's. If Wal-Mart Corporation gave any significant amount, I would be surprised.

  • you assume incorrectly moron. In my area walmart and the waltons have donated millions of dollars to schools libraries and boys and girls clubs

  • Wow, I'm a moron huh? Nice way to talk intelligently to someone who made a comment. I know for a fact that a lot of the money donated to Children's Miracle Network comes from employee donations and from customers. Wal-Mart may match the money raised, or go over that amount to donate to CMN but I did not assume anything. I know for a fact that a significant amount donated to CMN comes from customers and employees. How do I know that? Because I've sold enough balloons to customers for CMN.

  • Wal-mart is also in Canada :D

  • Wal-Mart sucks period

  • Man I wish I had bought walmart stock back in 1964.

  • Man I wish I had bought walmart stock back in 1964.me to

  • Why pay more somewhere else?

  • I love Walmart, the name brand foods are cheaper than the store brands at my supermarket.

  • If you buy products from Walmart you are doing nothing, ***NOTHING*** productive for yourself, your neighbours, your community, or your country.

  • Yeah, have some pride and pay more money out of your pocket for the exact same product at Kmart!

  • Sure, laugh it up and neg rate my comments, ... but when your U.S. economy is destitute and collapses this year, you have no internal production facilities to work your way out of the mess or even supply yourselves the goods that you can no longer afford to buy-in, ... don't expect any help from the multinational corporates that raped your country - some of which directly received bailouts of ***YOUR*** money.

  • Lemmingherda: "don't expect any help from the multinational corporates that raped your country"

You say that like it was the American people lining up at a collection plate to hand out 700 billion dollars to the multinational corporations.

We're a Republic, not a Democracy, and in a Republic things happen slow. Every representative we have (be they congressman, senators, or the president) was elected because of the LAST problem, not the current mess.

    The other option is dictatorship.

  • Democracy or dictatorship? Yeah, those are our only options. Forget about Politi, Aristocracy, Communism, and every other form of government.

  • Yes, also forget about anarchy. That's not an option either.

  • McConsumer; *SNAP* My first thought was "gee, I wonder if anyone has told the CDC!" hahaha

Anyone who mistakenly thinks each one of those "Dots" means more U.S. jobs, ... guess again, each one of those dots represents the death of a plethora of small U.S. stores (most of which would have been selling U.S. made goods) and the local culture around them, loss of their employees jobs, the conversion of people onto the corporations slave wages and flooding the area with badly made Chinese goods.

  • i see jobs coming to towns all over america!

  • I swear, everything humans do looks like bacteria spreading.

  • Idiot? Who exactly is it that make false assumptions on very general phrases? Look at the spread of Wal-Marts. Just like an organism finding environments where it flourishes. Not only in business but the same phenomenon can be seen in the growth of cities, the dissemination of info on the net, and others.

I didn't "brand a catch phrase" it was already out there. I merely commented on the aptness of such a metaphor. I made no mention of motives, only the patterns those motives manifest as.

  • you consider 'bacteria' to be a bad thing?

  • Not necessarily. Maybe it's just that we are not as self directed as e think. I mean, if our patterns end up looking the same as patterns from bacteria, can e really say that it is us that is responsible for these achievements? Something along those lines.

  • I think that these patterns are greatly influenced by the fact that they (or WE) are in a closed, limited space, much like a fishbowl.

As for the question whether or not it is us that influences our 'patterns'..well, yes and no, because we are natural, but only, so far, have a limited amount of space and resources to work with...idk.

  • Why do people blame Wal-Mart when it's themselves and their neighbors who CHOOSE to shop there?

  • do you think that people really enjoy where they shop? or do they shop because they absolutely have to for basic vital needs, despite the aggrivation of poor service and product quality?

  • I feel what you are saying. The solution is to open up a competing business. I know the system is rigged, too. But that is the correct solution.

  • "nothing stays the same, ohh i'm sure you have your target and probably k-mart..nothing against them right?

  • It's just business,dude..

  • Wow, if life is jest a shoppin'center...then why is tryin' to be a casino?

  • Wall Mart thats full of those Shop in Canada too

  • "nothing stays the same, ohh i'm sure you have your target and probably k-mart..nothing against them right?

  • the east side is more blue then west.

  • Walmart must be stopped at all costs. What's next, the pledge of Allegiance being changed to "One nation, under Walmart"?

  • there are 2 walmarts in my town

  • how about we call it NEW WORLD ORDER MART? Same trading deals, recalls, etc?

  • world mart

  • lol and they're still going strong.

Everyone loves to bash Wal Mart, but we all know you shop there

  • I don't.

  • Must be nice to live in a major metropolis, Yamamamanama. WalMart is practically the only store in town where I live, outside of a couple of dollar stores. Didn't used to be that way but it is now. Sad indeed. Thanks a lot, Wal Mart.

  • diseases spread fast!

  • We have 4 wal marts where i live.

  • Wal-Mart sucks they ruin towns... give jobs to illegals and the chinese and destroy U.S. factory jobs

  • DUMASS

  • addisontexas, because Wal-Mart focuses on the lower price, a weakening dollar only helps the company in that more people will come to Wal-Mart to try to maximize what they make. As far as China is concerned, Wal-Mart will do whatever is necessary to bring lower prices to its customers, even if it means having stuff manufactured in China--thats business. Thats Wal-Mart! Go Wal-Mart!!!

  • I bet you are one of those uneducated people that work as a cashier and weight 300 pounds and have little teeth in your mouth and make a dollar an hour.

  • looks a lot like.... cancer.

  • maybe we should change the name of our country to wal-mart

  • Walmart have just gone into partnership with ASDA in the UK maybe you will do a follow up video showing the spread throughout Europe?

  • Oh my GOD, its a wal-mart plague that will swallow us all

  • lol the state were i live in on the map u showed it got coverd by blue dots lol!

  • this is a market driven economy that we live in...wal-mart is only doing what most businesses do when they reach the size that they are at

  • This is true. From an economic point of view they are just doing what all businesses try to do- maximize shareholder wealth.

However, there may be long term side effects since much of the goods sold comes from China, adding to the trade US trade imbalance. Also, there is the side effect of suburban style big box stores replacing traditional urban store fronts, contributing to urban sprawl.

Nothing can stop them except for the falling value of the US Dollar.

  • fuck walmart they are greedy bastards!

  • Looks like Nevada and Maine have their stuff together.

  • GO GET A JOB, AT TARGET!

  • now thats capitalism baby yeah lol

  • everything walmart sells is made in china. boycott chinese goods! help stop the NAFTA superhighway and NAU

  • Not everything Balls.

  • not to mention the fact that in this country... this GREEEAAAT!!!! government/alongside of the IRS, lies to us in a reform inclusion that we have to pay for federal income tax out of our wages that we bust our asses for... They are stealing your money from your paycheck, every week, evey two weeks, out of your commissions...that you work hard for.... they tax our asses enough on the gas, and supplies to barely survive out here!! We have to pay for water that they reuse and chemically treat!!

  • I'm going to college.....if people don't like WAl-Mart....don't shop their......many people support WAlmart by buying its merchandise.....

I am going to college....Capitalims rocks....

Power corrupts....absolute power corrupts absolutely.....but it rocks absolutely to.....

it wouldn't hurt for Wal-Mart to have a bit more competition.....but Wal-Mart will eventually have to have its end.....the mastermnds behind it won't live forever....

    I love going to Walmart...

  • whats walmart

  • Sigh, another billion dollar corporation ripping off everyone. From its workers that it cheats by unpaid overtime, and jimmying hours of their records. Or paying selling a toy for 14.98 which cost 18 cents to build..

Such a bad ploy on the economy..

  • why is she working at kmart in the first place if she's 28? No college? Personal choice is a b**ch!

  • that was for jmann.

  • @goalieman--

Not everyone has the choice to go to college. Just because you could make that choice doesn't mean everyone has it that easy.

And there should be decent options for people who don't want to go to college. No one deserves to make $6 an hour just because they didn't go to school.

  • Is it just me, or are all eight Wal-Marts in North Dakota along the two major east-west highways of that state?

  • a degree wouldn't be bad.

  • now walmarts slowly taking over the world...they're building on in germany....hahahahaha...hahahaha...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. starbucks and walmart are going to rule the world in the year 2034

  • That is if the world doesn't end first in 2012 ;)

  • I don't blame it on Wal-Mart blame it on everyone having sex and thinking more kids are the answer. Wal-mart is only part of the problem. It's overpopulation stupids!

If it wasn't Wal-Mart it might just be another dollar store to take it's place with stuff made in China to fill the demand.

  • w0w

  • woah........ O.O

  • To be honest with you, Until WalMart Came to Canada, Prices were very high, I used to pay 13 bucks for my chev 20 van oil filter at Canadian Tire, that same year wall mart came to town Fram Filter 4.99, Its not all bad if your not ritch,

  • wow its like watching bacteria multiply

  • Holy canole!

  • hmmm i dont see Hawaii on ur map

  • as if there is 56,000 views of this. come on own up how many of you r geeks!

  • Walmarts in the USA fire people who try to start unions... They encourage thier employees to file for welfare and federal health care... We, the american people, pay over 1 billion dollars in taxes to support Walmart employees for welfare and federal health care

  • Oh brother!

  • No compitition you say? Well it kills and has killed many other smaller businesses. It is a monster eating other smaller monsters. Yes, compitition with this one is greatly sized.

  • That's capitalism.

  • Go Capitalism!

  • yeah, if you took enconomics you would know why this is bad for the average person, great for the top 10%. lower prices always lead to lower wages. I dare you to try and support a family on 8.00 an hour. Thanks retail. thanks for killing my country.

  • People save money when they shop at WalMart which they can spend on other things and start businesses of their own.

P.S. Barely anyone who is supporting a family makes $8.00/hour...it's mostly just teenagers.

  • EntourageMan- Have you been in a Walmart? There are tons of people working there that are over 20. And even teenagers deserve to make over $7/hr... You can't save for college with that kind of money, you can barely buy a car.

  • where is it written anywhere that says walmart has to pay anyone over minimum wage? minimum wage is set by the government not walmart. and most company's if your work performance is minimum you get payed minimum. i hear a lotta deadbeats complaining about there pay, when they didnt even work for half of it.

  • this has to be one of the more ignorant things ive heard in a while... in all reality you get what you pay for... pay your workers less, expect less work, less loyalty, less everything... to me it seems to be a bad business practice, you know exploiting workers for their need to pay bills and stuff... but that just me

  • and also, no one said they had to continue working at Walmart. There are other alternatives.

  • Actually, that's corporate capitalism. Capitalism was the mom and pop grocery store, the greeting card store and the pharmacy that went out-of-business when the BIG store came to town. But hey - prices are down, and in today's economy folks like you and I need low prices. Too bad low prices leave little main streets full of empty store-fronts.

  • So why was MarkSyno given thumbs down for his post when his explanation sounds very similar to one in my economics textbook?

  • Because people just see a big business being successful and just think that only the owners are being helped by it...people are idiots.

  • Looks like a graph I seen in school when the Nazi's were taking over Europe.Only difference is No concentration camps but abusive child labor in China.Anyone feel like doing the Walmart cheer?

  • All so Joe Blow can save a few bucks on toilet paper and condoms. Shopping at Wal-Mart is selling your soul.

  • From what I can tell on here, those in favor of Wal-Mart, defend it b/c they shop there, they like saving a buck, etc. And the people who are opposed to it have learned about the company beyond merely shopping there, the things that allow them to have those low prices.

  • Things like pseudo-slave labor in foreign countries, unfair government subsidies at the local and national level ($1 billion in 2005), paying low wages, not providing affordable health care for employees and encouraging them to get Medicaid ($1.5 billion in 2005), not to mention ignoring environmental regulations, safety precautions in their vast parking lots, and destroying Main Streets across the country...

  • You should see downtown in my city ever since Walmart came in.Looks like a ghost town.

  • Everyone should watch Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Prices. It is a very informative DVD that breaks down the many negative impacts that Wal-Mart has globally and locally. It IS about ideology, because it is the ideology of WalMart that allows you to enjoy their low prices at countless other's expense.

  • Walmart does not require any annoying savings cards! thank you Walmart! No rebates needed, no membership... The discount is already there! That is why i shop at Walmart!

  • So a company that supports America and actually has plenty of people working who are available to help customers is as bad or worse than a company who supports foreign countries cheaply and dangerous products just to make a buck, oh and they treeat their employees horribly. Wow you need to open your eyes there.

  • Looks like a virus outbrake. I find it strange that the US government can't see how this is bad for the economy for US citisens. There are hardly any US goods sold in WM. Mostly made in China, Mexico etc. Politicians have a 4 year lifespan...

  • It's like a cancer.

  • walmart=ikea

  • If you love Wal-Mart, research the effects it has to small businesses. dozens of other reasons why wal-mart is evil, but that one is just a start. They also fund slavery in places like haiti and china. Well just go look it up and you will see

  • God Bless Walmart? God bless un unionizing, destroying communities, unfair wages, sexist, getting millions from the state and country walmart. WHY?

This is the worst company in the world. There Selfish and complete liars.

    FUCK WALMART
