Asus G2S still an awesome & powerful gaming laptop that can easily dual boot into retial Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and Windows 7 Ultimate with ease. Asus's G2S is still Asus most beautiful laptop they have ever made, so slick, and unique that even today in 2011 people when they see my G2S ask me where I got it, who is made off, & Wow that is a bad ass laptop! When they see that i'm running Snow Leopard on it & fully, they get more amazed at it!
what year is this? because 2 years ago i was tring so bad to get my hands on this laptop well the 4 gb edition. i ended up going with an hp. notbad but it overheats at high performance
I have had my G2s for about 2 years and I love it, I had to tweak it a little bit because i wasn't satisfied with the performance, it came with vista home 32bit and 2 gb of ram and i put 4gb and windows 7 ultimate 64bit. this made it run alot better and faster and windows 7 is so much more stable. Only downfall is the poor driver support from Asus and because it is running 64bit i had to get a cooling tray to keep it at a comfortable temperature
Asus provides Windows 7(-compatible) 64-bit drivers for everything in the G2S...it's just not all found on the G2S's specific support page -- or updated regularly. For the more important things, Intel (wireless/SATA), Motorola (modem), JMicron (eSATA), Atheros (LAN), Realtek (Audio) and nVidia (graphics) all provide Windows 7 x64 (and XP-32) drivers for the G2S...and Asus provides all their custom software on their site. The only thing I hadn't found was an XP-32 download for DirectConsole.
yeah and i like both colours but i dont know if i can use the size of screen ;s i want it big but i travel alot and thats why i cant say if i want the g1 or g2 ;s
well lets take it from start... they have the same hardware but if you see the littel screen might be able to deliver better graphics but the big screen is very nice and i have the problem i cnat decide ;O
I have a G2S, and lemme tell ya, the 17.1 in screen with 1920x1200 is just...too good to pass up. At least it was for me over the G1S. I swapped out the stock Hitatchi 5400 harddrive and replaced it with a WD 7200 and added another 2 GBs of RAM and my system is humming, even with an older 8600M.
get a acer like i did. its pretty cheap compared to asus. i got a 9600gt-m card that really packs a punch when im gaming on modern games. it also have a 3 gb ram so if you need many windows open you wont notice any decrease in speed at all...
i have a g1s and it's great. the only slight problems are that the inbuilt speakers a crap and it can get quite hot. but the good far outways the bad.
Go for the Toshiba Qosmio X300, if you can find it. It's a great gaming laptop with amazing sound for only 1,600 Canadian dollars at bestbuy near my house. It's also got a webcam/mic all that...but no nice mouse or backpack. Although I would rather have a Qosmio without a backpack than a G1/2 with one =P. Qosmio is overall good money value, battery life is about 1-2 hours if gaming, and huge screen. It's heavy though, 10 pounds with the battery in I beleive, but I'd get if I were you
I have a G2s, its a great computer but the only downfall is it will not work with certain antiviruses, it will crash and need a system restore every time you put programs like bit defender on it so be careful. Norton seems to work but it is not my favourite one to use, also try to get ultimate on it home premium sucks
I got the G2K, and I picked it for the size - I wanted a beast of a gaming machine that I could still stick in a backpack and take to school. It was super cheap and it's so far served me very well. :D
I think g1s is better, g2s has wider screen, ram, but it is heavier, and hotter.
I have g1s , it is cool, the only problem I encountered is the heat issue, but when I downgraded it, (the core temp now is around 55 to 59 Celcious, the hdd is 50°C with office work) the battery duration is 2Hours with office work as well, I think G1s is better, but I recommend u to do some search in the web before buying it.
ASUS g1s is a piece of shit. can't even run cod4 multiplayer with 125 fps stable, on lowest graphics.
Do not recommend.
Buy a fucking desktop.

Hello Siv 1990,
I would like to ask about this laptop screen.
I do not like the current glossy screens, I would prefer to buy a laptop with anti-glare screen.
What type of screen this AsusG2 has?
Is it the color shine version, but does it reflects the light? Is it disturbing?
Thank you.
Regards,
Gaborsa

g1s is better as its lighter, cheaper, and more portable than the g2s. however, i would recommend looking at the dell xps m1530.
