  • i have a problem.... I dont think that you can drive this engine directly from bio gas.... There will be some chemical treatment of gas....

  • As one person below commented, you could simply burn it in a steam setup & it would need no complicated carb.

  • try a four stroke engine. that would eliminate your problem with lubricating the engine.. believe you me i come from a third world country and four stroke engines are widely used than two stroke engines..

  • you posted this video back in 2009, I would love to see an update on this after 2 years and what your actual fuel consumption was or is with any modified system you now have.3 minutes on less than 100 liters seems to huge of a loss but I am sure there are better ways to measure what you actually have collected and look forward to seeing what you've come up with

  • how about using a small steam generator and then run the condenser around or thru your digester to keep it warm.

  • good video. I think you could use the gas to run a still and make ethanol. and use ethanol to run your generator. E100 when stored properly will never go bad. I no it would probably take a lot of gas to make ethanol, but a liquid fuel is more transportable and handy to have around. plus it seems more efficient to run gas to a stove than to run it in a generator. I hope to try some experiments someday using biogas to cook with, create electricity, and make fuel grade ethanol.

  • I'm no engineer, but isn't it possible to build a better sealed system ?

As you mentioned in your video you thought you lost about 50% of the gas.

I understand that you are trying to figure out an easy system wich can be installed an run by practicly everyone. But it's a huge loss of energy.

  • We have a 50cc Keeway scooter. It's a 2 stroke engine, but it got it's own oil tank, no need to put oil into the gasoline.

  • Use a two stroke engine with a oil pump, then you have solved your oiling problem.

  • have you looked into using a sterling engine?

  • My thing is.. I would run several tests on effiency ... like add more draw off the generator by running more lights or a bigger appliance.. and time how long it lasts.. then just using the one light bulb and figure watts per hour to a liter of gas...

  • You so need the Jean pain method. Use a compost pile to keep your methane at proper temperature then your production of methane with greatly increase. Wood chip compost can give great warmth over a years time.

  • how much light will you get from gas lights with that 100 lt and it very low tech it a lot cheaper than buying a generator ,i under stand what yr doing but i think you looking at it from the wrong way how about giving a home gas lights ,gas frig, gas cooking, some gas frig been going 50 years, all low tec .OR you saying to people get power from a electric then you need a electric lights ,electric frig electric cooking .and you need a electric generator there no different to us

  • Hmm, nice but what modification(s) do I effect to make the gen run on biogas? Could i just run the tube into the fuel supply line of the gen?

  • putting oil in the spark plug hole doesnt get oil into the crank bearings, it just gets oil onto the top of the piston. You need to block the main jets in the carb, and leave the idle air normal and let the engine suck oil in through the carb. Using the idle air screw adjustment you can tune the amount of oil going into the engine. Since its a generator and deisgned to run at a constant rpm this should work fine.

  • tho in a 2 stroke engine.. the fuel and oil are mixed together.. so the oil is always on the top of the piston...

  • tho youre right about the using the carb to draw the oil in... that would of been the best thing I could of suggested..
