  • The first McDonalds Girl the young one. Yes Sir I'm in love with the McDonalds Girl

  • Im In love With The Mcdonald's Girl.. :) Nice Song dean..

  • Is that the Pussycat Dolls chick...Nicole schle...????

  • She has a smile of what?

  • @rorange03 "... she has the smile of innocence, oh so tender and warm." ;-)

  • Dean, Ariel is one of those songs that rattles around in the head of this 52 yr old guy. Puts a smile on my face. I thank you for that. Lately it's been 1,2,3 Red Light and Bruce Roberts - I Don't Wanna Go. Who knows why.

  • the older woman has a great smile

  • Someone asked me to mention that they find this commercial offensive to redheads.

  • can someone send me the complete lyrics for this video?

  • You'll find the original McDonald's Girl lyrics in the LYRICS section of my deanfriedman homepage. McDonald's wound up changing some of them for the commercial - 'polyester uniform' became 'Golden Arches' uniform. You can also hear the original version there, in the ALBUM DOWNLOAD section under the Rumpled Romeo album. And you can see dozens of different YouTube versions from around the world on my YouTube channel. Enjoy the music!

  • This is one of the catchiest "jingles" I've heard in a long time - I LOVE IT!

  • people who work at mcdonalds dont look like the young girl, they look more like the old woman

  • @trigman2000 They did when I worked there 20 some years ago. Lots of fresh faced high school kids and some great memories and friends.

  • In the commercial I saw on tv, it showed a guy with curly hair staring at the coffee, and 2 other guys in line peeked out from behind him to see. Then the girl gives him the coffee, as shown in this one. This is TOTALLY different, I liked the one I was talking about better!

  • this week was the first time i saw it on tv.. and the song is so catchy lol

  • lmao i love this song/commercial cause i work at mc donlds im a mc donalds girl aha :)

  • just watched this on tv

  • I like how they put that cream in that coffee.

  • I am so weird but I love this and everytime the commercial comes on it makes me so happy LMFAO

  • Wish all McDonald's would hire women that attractive.

  • every time i hear this i think of heyhihello. they have a chord that sounds just like the "she is an angel in a golden arches uniform" but it says "before i met you i was just two minus one". if anyone else thinks this, please let me know by replying!

  • I LOOOOVE THIS SONG LOL!!!!

  • my sister's boyfriend works @ mcdonalds, i changed the song around to "im in love w/ the mcdonalds boy" it drives her crazy :D

  • Dean, I heard this tonight and LOVED IT!!!!!! Love the melodies in it.

  • what is the name of the song? what a huge hook.

  • I'm diggin this jingle. It's been a while since an actual commercial jingle has grabbed me like this. Coolest 30 seconds i've heard in quite a while.

great job "the blenders" much success to you all!

  • OK, I have to ask this. I know the lyrics for the actual song go "she is an angel in a polyester uniform". In the commercial, "polyester" is changed to "golden arches". Why was the change made? Did McDonalds object to a line that makes them sound cheap?

  • Golden arches uniform = polyester uniform

  • Hey Folks, Tickets to my 2011 Tour Dates are now on sale via my homepage DeanFriedman you-know-where. Hope to see you at one of the gigs! Dean

  • Dean will be resident in Carcassonne, France this summer, instructing on a 4-day songwriting course with the French House Party. 29 July - 1 August. Book your place now (and hear McDonald's Girl in a more intimate setting!)

  • Did you hear it on "Wait Wait Dont Tell Me" a few months ago, too?

  • Dean - this is fantastic! Good things come to those who wait. Let's hope you make the millions of bucks you deserve out of it!!!

  • Congratz Dean to bad it took so long!!!

  • Congradulations Dean! That is so amazing and funny how long it took for them to finally see the light:))

  • Congratulations, Dean! I've always thought this song deserved to be a hit, or at least a McDonalds jingle.

  • Hey, hey I like the IKEA idea!

    Dave

    nearlyfamous-com

  • You're just a lucky guy :-)

  • Good on you Dean. It was well worth the wait ! Do you think that IKEA would be interested in "Well, well said the rocking chair "?

  • Hey Deano. Here in the UK we have a washing powder named Ariel. Do you think that maybe. . . . . " Stains on my pillow, Ave Maria ! Ariel .... Ariel ... (Get my drift?)

  • Congratulations Dean. I agree, they should have called you in to do the vocal. This doesn't have the same wit but I hope you're getting royalties! xx

  • @JoChin1 I'm being paid with lifetime supply of McNuggets! ;-)

  • Why oh why wasn't Dean called in to do the vocal or at the very least just use his original - this one's far too smarmy.

  • Congrats to Dean for having his song in the commercial!!

  • How cool

  • Cute ad. My first and favourite Dean song. Wish he was singing it in the advert though. None better!

  • Love this song - love everything by Dean - yes Everything!! Wish it was you singing it though Dean. (On a MCDonalds note - great video but there was nothing wrong with "polyester")

  • "She is an angel in a Golden Arches uniform". Nice change. :)

  • Very cool!

  • Brilliant. I want this ad on U.K. tv. About time Dean got some recognition for this brilliant song. Just a pity he's not doing the vocals. But you can't have everything.

  • I hope Deano gets the recognition for this. They obviously don't use polyester uniforms anymore though - what on earth are they singing?!

  • Hooray! This is step 1 for Deano. Surely with the power of Internet, we, the public, can get McDonalds Girl re-released! Come on fans, let's do it for Dean!

  • Woohoo! How exciting for you, Dean....redemption!

  • Brilliant! A song can MAKE a commercial work!

  • Good for you, Dean! And to think, it only took 30 years for them to appreciate you!!!

    (Ariel's Mom) ;-)

  • A great song by a brilliant songwriter, and a great story to go with it! Inspiring. Congratulations to Dean Friedman.

  • Kudos Dean!

I am thrilled that your song has finally received the recognition it so rightly deserves, I only wish it was you singing, your version is way better.

  • WTG, DEAN! I remember hearing you play this song back in 1984 when I went to camp in Pennsylvania. Thanks to The Blenders for carrying this brilliant tune to another generation.

  • its a pity that you was not used in the commercial, it infuriates me actualy, its your song, you; and you alone deserve all the credit. try and get it on in the uk. if i was your agent i would push and shove and twist and turn and duck and dive and bust my gut and break my balls to get you right back up there... the top songwriter on the planet

  • Congrats Dean

So nice that your most excellent pop tune is getting the recognition it deserves after all this time. Personally, I prefer your original vocal version.

  • ''Cool, huh?!! The spot has already started airing on TV and radio in different regions around the country, so keep an eye (and ear) out for it. The Blenders are doing the vocals and they sound great! And if you don't already have it, check out my original recording, off my 'Rumpled Romeo' album (you know where to order it! ;-).

So, anyway, it's true that it took a little while... but what can I say?

    I'm lovin' it! ;-)'' - DEAN

  • Dean tells me more ....The, then unknown, band, Barenaked Ladies, recorded a 'live' cover version of the song for Toronto radio station, which became the #1 requested song on the station and one of the band's first airplay hits. A band named the Blenders did their own version of the tune which went to #1, with the advent of YouTube, including ivy league groups like Yale's 'Mixed Company' and Harvard's 'Din & Tonics',

  • Dean tells me via email: Hi Folks,

Life's funny some times, as you all well know. For example...

Three decades ago (1981) I wrote an infectious li'l pop song named, 'McDonald's Girl', a track off my 'Rumpled Romeo' album, a suburban teenage song-cycle filled with adolescent romance, love and angst. I've always been fond of the tune, .....

  • One of my all time favorites. Congrats! (although I like both the original and BNL versions better!)

  • i have been in love with this song ever since i first heard on Dean Friedman's website. He is an American genius~ I love love love this song. BRAVO! but in fact, i must say, i have NOT eaten in a McD for 19 years ever since i decamped the USA for ASIA, and i will never again set foot in a McD because they are selling DEATH, in fact. sigh....... (thanks for my heart attack, Ronald!)

  • Lovin' it! ^.^

    {Took them long enough! ^.* Congrats Dean, well deserved Sir! ^.^}

  • Terrific. Long overdue. I hope you're getting some royalties out of this, Deano! :)

  • I have to say,

There was a time when I'd be watching the "tube" (the original one), and I'd cringe with the first notes of a Beatles song on a commercial or the Spoonful's song selling diapers. But this, it' s different. It's beyond perfect. It may have taken a long 30 year journey. But it's wonderful. Can"t think of anyone more deserving. Congratulations Dean

  • Congratulations Dean....it's about time!!

  • I like it, although it should really be Dean singing AND it's been lyrically 'tweaked' but hopefully it brings Deans music to a wider audience.

    I'm lovin' it :o)

  • Nooo! They changed the lyrics!
