This video is incorrect. The Pontiac Solstice was never a good selling roadster. Its low quality american engineering shows quite clearly when viewing the car in person. The other thing, the american Pontiac company went bankrupt due to very poor quality, which led to very poor sales. The Solstice could never compete with the Miata nor the S2000 Honda. The Solstice was designed for the typical american man, but wages at McDonald's restaurants were cut to minimum american wages. No luck America!

I bought my wife a Solstice GXP for Christmas in 2008. Let me tell you boys and girls .. It may not have the top end of a Ferrari or Vette, but talk about quick! No Lie ... I could probably turn 30 -45 degrees @ 60 mph with no problem. Last week we took her through the twisted mountain roads of North Carolina ... 60-70 all the way, stable ride, goes where you point it, no over correction needed, as long as long as you STAY FOCUSED! Not a grocery car, just a toy, but sooooooo much FUN!

The hard top is a Pontiac special, since Pontiac designed the car they had the advantage to tinker with it. Opel Gt is the same as this car though, you can buy the Opel GT in the UK.
I own a GXP hardtop coupe. How would they have known Pontiac would get axed while bringing this to market? Minimal changes needed to make the car. In the planning stages for a while. Faster than a Boxster 0-60 in 5.5 for 1/2 the price. For 30K it's super sharp, fast, lots of features: Bluetooth, XM, chrome 18's, 6-disc, all power, leather, etc. The removable cloth top fits in the trunk. Makes up for not being able to stow the hard top. Minimal compromises for a 2-seater. Snap it up. Head-turner.

I have had the gxp 08 for a few weeks. solid drive, I got the 5 speed auto and its a very fun car to drive. fast enough to be the fastest in its class, miataa left in the dust not even close, secound gear tire spin in the auto, great tourqe for a 2.0. But it is pushing 18psi boost not sure if thats good for a long life but, i went for the way extended warranty. 94 in the 1/4 not to bad, back in the 60's they called that a muscle car. Trunk space!! cup holders for freeken sack its a roadster

That was one of some other important reasons why I didn't buy the Opel GT.
The main reason was that it is simply too small for tall people like me (1,90m).

The very name is boring. The styling is full of visual dissonance. Lots of soft organic shapes that are out of place in what is supposed to be a performance car. Of all the names it could've been given, "Solstice", puts me to sleep.
Clearly, GM has mentally disturbed people working in their market research and styling studios. They somehow think that turning traditional automotive styling cues on their heads is a bold statement. The Solstice is one of many ugly cars on the road.

there is a difference the 350z is the Trans am of nissan where the sky/solstice is just a sporty car that gets great gas milege that little motor gives over 30mpg. This is just a car for people who want the sport look but not the downsides of buying gm's other more high performance models which aslo cost more. so its cheaper and fun and is nice looking. and "this coupe will go down in the dumps when they go on sale" is a dumb they made it for people who want it. never paid attention to business?

Dude. Are you retarded? That's a ridiculous amount. The 2004 VW Passat has 170 out of it's turbo, the 2008 Civic Si has 197, and even cars like the Evo and STI only have around 280. How little do you have to know about cars to think that horsepower is all that matters? Go buy a as guzzler like the G8. 361 horsepower, that should do the trick. Even though there are cars with far less horsepower that go much faster. But whatever, you're right, and speed is based solely on horsepower. 100% correct.

I have had the gxp 08 for a few weeks. solid drive, I got the 5 speed auto and its a very fun car to drive. fast enough to be the fastest in its class, miataa left in the dust not even close, secound gear tire spin in the auto, great tourqe for a 2.0. But it is pushing 18psi boost not sure if thats good for a long life but, i went for the way extended warranty. 94 in the 1/4 not to bad, back in the 60's they called that a muscle car. Trunk space!! cup holders for freeken sack its a roadster
