I lost Type-R's. People don't realize that they're rated 600 watt RMS was tested IN OPEN AIR, whereas most subs are tested in enclosures. You can safely run these at 900-1000 watts with no problem. I run mine at 900 at 2 ohms and my friend runs two at 1,250 watts each. Problem with running over 1k is you can only listen for an hour or two or you risk some damage.
i have these subs and im looking to buy an amp that will give good power but not so much that they are in danger of blowing up my subs. how many watts is your amp? and do you have it tuned?
hey bro i got a 04 tacoma it looks damn near the same as yours truck and am planin to install 2, 10" subs i like ur set up but can u still use the compartments on the bottom??? another thing how much was ur boxs if u can get back at me pls thanxs
@Inchyladas bro your not gunna want that big of a box if you want to get to the rear compartments. i got a 96 tacoma. check out my befor and after videos. i had my old pioneer subs in seperate sealed boxes and now i have my sonic sound lab tens in a dual ported box. unbelievably loud! check it out! if you want loud get a ported not sealed.
just get one if you have a truck 1 is just as good as 2. i have an f150 and i had two in there and now i have one type r and it sounds better than when i had 2. its all about your airspace
@EfffexProductions thats why when i role down the windows it makes it louder! that way i can be blaring my music and open my door and everyone within a few blocks turnes and lookes haha. your right its about airspace but its also about sound quality. when i had one hooked up in my sealed boxes it sounded good but when i put two in there it sounded 200 persent better and wasnt as hard on the subs.
hey i got a question? what is the difference between ohms? i have similar setup as you, 2 10" type r subs, but no amp. i still have no idea which amp to buy. i heard i need one that has 1000 rms at 4 ohms? what is the diffference between 2, 4 and 8 ohms?
@pbmaniac51 if you're going with shallow subs i would personally recommend, out of all of the ones i heard i think the jl 13w5's we're the best, take a decent amount of power, super thin, 7" voice coil (HUGE!!!!) lol nice deep accurate bass, just sounds great overall
yo i was thinkin about purchasing 2 of these subs and running 550w rms to each but turned not so high up. i do like lots of bass but not to the point where i cant hear the rest of the song i do have my regular speakers amped, but do you think these would be good and not overpower my other speakers at the same time? i dont want to be underpowering them either. thx
ya bro i am only pushing about 300 rated rms to them witch is about 425 rms on the birth sheet at 4 ohms and it is plenty of power. when i was on my stock headunit all i heard was bass but when i got a new headunit they sounded great.
@scottyBoland i actually already bought them and i got a sundown saz-1000d amp wich came with a sub control knob, but i dont even use it. i have sub control on the alpine deck. but theyre always full blast! i love em! :)
@7356205 haha well that works too! but keep the deck on +15 then use the bass knob too adjust it spon from song, thats what im going new vid of the new vehicle up soon, very soon, new alternator going in hifonics amp just in gonna be sweet
@7356205 bro if you want to get bass and have good sound you cant be runnin speakers off the head unit. there not loud enough and the head unit will only produce about 20rms to each speaker. so you will need to get a component set and amp the speakers that way you can hear the music no matter how loud the bass is! i just spent two grand on my system and it is unbelievably loud and clear! check it out! i did all the install myself but i wish i had done it cleaner.
@mynameisaustn i just bought me 2 10's for 100 bux a piece from crutchfield along with an amp for about 145 al in all cost around 350 and i am happy with my system
Clean set-up. cant lie about that. I would go with a different amp, not a big fosgate fan.... well there new stuff anyways, but bass doesnt overpower mids and highs, you can tell bass isnt muddy, good set-up bro :)
not exactly sure.. but i just built a new one. i still have this one..if you want to buy it. it dosent have the wire teminals any more though..because i used them in my new box.
You can reach 3000W with those 2 subs, I got 1 10" type R with a alpine MRP-M650 amp, its a 1800W amp, I reach the 1500W power easiely with only 1 of those subs.
how do the 2 10" sound? i wanted to get 2 10" instead of 2 12" cause over all it is less space taken up in your trunk but whats the difference between the two?
ok thanks....i dont have a car yet but when i get one i'm probly going to get 2 12's.....and also are they worth the $124 that they are on sonic electronix?
and i bought my enclosure from a local car audio store near me, you can probably find on on the internet for around 70 $ mine is just a universal truck enclosure.
about 250 for both of the subs 80 for the enclosure and my amp is what killed me i payed 600 for the amp but you could find one much cheaper and just as good.
super clean, thats what i would have done, but i needed room for two girls in the back...lol Check mine out sometime... kickerzx1500.1 with two rockfordt1 twelves.
I have 2 10" Type R coming in and have a sealed compound box for them.Never used Alpine for subs but will give it a try.A RF P200-2 running 4ohm bridged will do more than I will ever need.Seems all the kick ass amps of the late 80s and early 90s have turned to crap.RF still puts out reliable products as far as I can see.
Is there anyway I could get a decent sub while still being able to use the back seats?

sounds good. im thinking of doin 2 10's just like that on a 2000 watt amp. u think i should do 2 ohm r 4 ohm?
GreyGhostZ71 2 years ago
2 ohm, you can't wire the 4's down to 2 ohm load.
if you do get 4 ohm's, make sure you have a 1 ohm stable amp.
