Frederick Knight had quite a hit with this record . I was 10 when this came out . It's a shame with his voice that is compared to the other Memphis great by the name of Otis (if you know who I mean ) , that this was it for him . " I Bet You Didn't Know That " , should have been another hit for him but that was outshadowed by the likes of the return of The Bee Gees , John Denver at his peak , and disco starting to dominate the airwaves in 1975 .
I was 16 when this was released. I remember waiting for it to come on the radio! Still as great as it ever was. right up there with Ain't too Proud to Beg!
amazing song, one of the greastest underestimated singers from the stax record label, got this record myself and the older it gets the better it sounds x
I loved this way back, and thought I'd never get to hear it again. I remember hearing that it was Frederic Knight and His Ten Man Review, and wondering what did all ten of them do!
It seems I'm not the only one who heard this on the new "A Team" movie. It's been over 30 years but I remember it well. This song did fall thru the cracks. But now it's been brought back to life. I found myself singing this throughout the day. It's a classic.
It's quite lovely when any film can introduce someone to great music, though it'd of been nicer if a reasonably decent movie had showcased the wonders of Frederick Knight for new folks, no?
Rob this is what is going to become of you from treating me the way you did after I was there for you when your own family wasn't. {Robert Chatman of Baltimore}
This song gets the award for Most Charmingly Out-of-Tune Lead. It's funny at first- in a good way! -but in the end, it stays with you like any very good song does.
@saerit9 True! I've had this tune in the back of my head since almost forever but I didn't know its name. Been searching for it ever since. So you could say there's at least one good thing the new A-Team movie has done. Have a good one.
Frederick Knight is from, and still resides in my hometown, Birmingham, Alabama! This song was, of course, huge locally and in the southeast. He also wrote, Anita Ward's, one hit wonder, "Ring My Bell!"
I remember listening to OPUS '72 on New Years Eve on KISN Portland, OR and this song was the #100 song starting the whole countdown to #1 @ Midnight, and kicking off the 8 hour show.
Oh man! 1972 in East Los Angeles. Me and my homeboys walking to Brooklyn Ave to by clothes to impress the girls. We were only about 14 years old and we thought we knew everything. lol What a sweet memory yet kinda sad since I'm the only one still alive of that group of friends.
I thought i was the only one to Google this tune after watching A-Team..
