  • Such a bullshit story from Frank Miller.

  • Bruce Wayne, the man who kicked Superman's ass.... twice

  • @lordeli no one is ever forced into crime, I'm sorry but you're mistaken. Rather there is a word for people like that and it's called a "victim".

  • This comic always sucked story and all. Anyone who would go about praising batman who is the typical Spoiled little Rich Boy gettign off on screwing with Poor people forced into criminal life styles. and again gettign off on him brutalizing them. Would like a character like this over Superman whom was brought up by common folk and raised right, Anyone who'd choose a turd like Batman over Superman is a moron in my book and obviously a republican supporter

  • @LordEli Totally agreed. This story was written by a well known Superman hater and this story is just biased. I don't care what type of training or plan you have. An ordinary guy will never be able to defeat Superman.

  • @comichero75 Damn right my friend

  • can someone tell me the name of the song thats playing at 2:38

  • the art style is just ugly.

  • @EclipseHedgehog It's a Frank Miller story. What did you expect lol.

  • @comichero75 lol yeah. you got a point.

  • Wow. Miller got Superman all wrong.

  • @MrImastinker true. But this is an alternate universe, in the future, so the whole point is that the man's been forced to change to become what he is in this story.

  • @VsxFedora I just sometimes get the impression that Miller flat-out HATES Superman. I mean he writes him as a lap dog to this government because he was forced to, that's one thing.easily. And in the sequel to this he writes Superman as borderline brain-dead. Even Batman says 'you've never been much in the brains department'. That's disgraceful, and not who Superman is.

  • @MrImastinker yeah, Miller's a straight-up "if he's not Batman, then I don't care" kind of writer, unfortunately.

  • @VsxFedora Yep.

  • to all u haters out there......if it wasnt for this book, Keaton's portrayal of batman wouldnt be great.....Keaton had to read this book to get inspired for his role as batman........Thumbs up so people can see

  • Batman would've been Raped if it wasn't for Green Arrow's Kryponite tipped arrow.

    Superman > Batman

  • HES THE GOD DAMN BATMAN

  • this sucks

  • i loved this comic. it showed a apocalyptic future where batman basically got fed up with the world and became what the world needed to survive but at the same time kept his rule. i thought this was one of the greatest comics i've ever read.

  • Ugh i hated this comic, it was so terrible and stupid

  • batman is a disrespectful bad ass, that tell it how it is.

  • @1805902349 well Batman "freed" the Mutant leader (who has nothing to do with Killer Croc btw) just to beat the hell out of him and lock him up again. Dismantling a criminal organization by setting an example is wrong?

As for the electricity, you have apoint, but... Batman was already an illegal vigilante who was public enemy #1 so I don't think a short power-outage really compares to everything else he did... Batman's a rule-breaker. That's why they sent Superman to slap him down.

  • the idea here isn't too terrible, its definitely something new and i do like that, but the batman lover-superman hater bias is far too noticeable, this fight wouldn't happen this way, and clearly superman would have killed the aged and poorly defended batman in a single punch, or just shooting him with his heat ray, regardless the actual fighting was poorly done, and just the idea of batman and superman going at it like this in the end is kind of stupid..i want to like this, but it sucks...

  • me and my friend william were sating who is better batman or superman i said batman and he said superman but this video proves who is better BATMAN!!

  • Be more man than him Bruce. Eye of the Tiger Batman!

  • This is the best damn book ever. I really wish they'd make a movie about it, but somehow I doubt it'll ever happen. There's just so many epic win moments in the whole story. My favorite is probably a tie between this, and the final fight(s) with The Mutant Leader and The Joker.

It's a shame more people don't like or know about this comic. It really deserves more attention and recognition.

  • @SpinalTree You're my new best friend

  • @VsxFedora lol, thanks. I get frustrated at the amount of people who have no real idea just how awesome Batman really is. Whenever I get the chance I recommend the hell out of this book. My words verbatim are, "If you have to read just one Batman story, read this one."

I also love Year One, and I enjoy ASBAR to a point, but I heard DKSA isn't worth checking out. Still, this comic alone made Batman my favorite fictional character of all time. Perfect book. Frank Miller doing what he does best.

  • @SpinalTree dude, I am glad someone else here in this world can see the light. I just wanna punch those Miller-haters and dou bters, sometimes... But I LOVE All-Star Batman, mainly because it's different. Fresh. People criticize it until they find out everyone's SUPPOSED to be "out of character": the entire point is that it's an alternate take borrowing only basic concepts. It's hilarious, brutal, beautiful, and at times poetic.

  • @VsxFedora I know how you feel. I think Linkara of TGWTG is a big reason for the Miller-haters, because he doesn't show them Year One and TDKR. The thing I love the most about ASBAR is how it shows how terrifying Batman really is. People see his no-killing rule as a weakness, but it's a strength; he'll do everything BUT kill you. The only parts I disliked were the abuse to Robin and that gross Superman/Wonder Woman pairing. Still, no matter how many good comics I read, TDKR is my all-time fav.

  • @SpinalTree Millar's done good stuff but people dislike him because of his recent work and it was a while in coming. The awful Spirit movie, The new Batman is crappy. People think its crappy not because everyone went crazy but because its silly. Frank Millar has gone too far down his niche hole where he made Sin City. Ever since then, he hasn't been able to switch out. He needs to do some characters he doesn't like, and some stories that aren't his strength to improve.

  • @GadGades I never said Miller was perfect. He's just given a lot more crap than he really deserves. The new Batman isn't crappy, people just don't like it because it's not what they're used to. Yes, TDKSA wasn't that great, and The Spirit wasn't too different from that either, but ASBAR is just something more of an acquired taste. Say what you will about him, but it's hard to deny the impact he made in the 80's that would've made several great Batman works impossible otherwise.

  • @SpinalTree I admit he's done good stuff. Him and Moore tend to be dark and don't mind characters being prostitutes or whatever. But I think he's work has become kinda niche. I've been trying to read his daredevil stuff, and that wasn't inaccessible(only read the born again collected arc so far). So niche is the word I want to stand out. His DKSA is less crazy than his All star, and that Batman being the way he was is partially forgiven due to the time jump and whats happend(his bitterness)

  • @GadGades I think Batman's behavior in All Star is terrific. It really gives him that psychotic and fearsome edge that so many people want to infer about him but it never really plays off right because he's always too collected and merciful. In the end it really falls in the hands of personal preference. Batman's been around so long and has been handled by so many writers that it's hard to pinpoint one exact definition of what he is. Some people prefer Adam West, others Michael Keaton, etc.

  • @SpinalTree true that

  • @SpinalTree at the movie part,

don't give up hope yet, this is so awesome it WILL make it in the movie.

    just give it time.

  • I know that Miller gave Zack Snyder his personal blessing to do the movie, but he's busy with the next Superman right now I think. Still, even if this movie was just like a direct-to-video animation it could still be great (just look at Under The Red Hood) and even if then it was given a PG-13 it could be "hard" like The Dark Knight, although I admit I'd be pleased if DC finally let an R-rating with one of their flagship characters pass. They'd have to if it was, say, The Killing Joke.

  • this comic is crap. not the vid. the comic.

  • @JuanTopoFortress you've either never read it, you got pissed about Superman's portrayal, or there's something seriously wrong with you and your taste for literature.

  • @VsxFedora or maybe i have diferent taste. its all about perception. and im to bored for a youtube comment fight. bye.

  • Great musc and editing Vsxfedora. The Dark Knight Returns is one of my favorite storylines.

  • I dont care if he did or not, Batman defeated Superman no question about it after all The Man of Steel wqas such a tool in this storyline.

  • @punch6 It's farfetched to believe a character that fought government corruption and is a journalist got reinterpreted this way. But Superman was not fighting batman. One or Two of his punches, even weaken would have killed him. One bunch where it looked like he was holding back "broke 3 ribs". Superman took what batman threw and he still looked like he was way up by the time Green Arrow hit him with Kryptonite. So who won? Green Arrow? Kryptonite alone beats Superman.

  • @punch6 My point was that this fight shows nothing and means nothing. It works in the story for an excuse for batman to disappear. But nothing changed, and Superman wasn't stopped or killed or altered.

  • That was cheap, Batman got help from Green Arrow. It wasn't much of fair fight.

  • @Na11441 he's the goddamn Batman, dude... he doesn't give half a crap about being "fair". "

"In a fight, there is no rules. Just the fight and who's left standing" (direct quote from Batman)

  • @VsxFedora But if it was a one on one fight Superman so would have beaten him.

  • We talk about superman here.

  • Superman was'nt even really trying to kill Batman. Let's see Batman do the same thing to Darkseid or Doomsday.

  • Excelent music choices, both of them go so well with the build up and the fight.

  • CHALLENGE!

Okay. I have a challenge 4 you. You've been doing all the DKR comic vids, but can you do one with the Dick Grayson Joker scenes? I think that comes from the comic after. My friends voted me to ask you, so can you do it?

  • @JokerGirl9909 Welllll I haven't read the sequel (aparently it sucks), and don't have anything from it, so I can't really do it... BUT I'm doing the Mutant Gang fights and eventually tributes to the story as a whole

  • Hey ho is the kid with Bruce? Great video dude keep it up :)!

  • @repaate oh, HER...she's Carrie Kelly who made herself the new Robin and the only reason Bruce approved because he was delisional from massive blood loss. Seriously. She has NO training and is 110% useless. Every person who'se read the book hates her including me XD

  • I don't see superman as being wrongly protrayed in the book, I thought he was in his lapdog position as a deal to keep the government from taking action against superheros in general. In addition I felt he was trying to stop batman because of all the ruckus batman was making was about to cause the government to take action...

  • @Darkerai I thought about that, too... They don't really reveal his reasons for doing that, and I think overall, he IS doing it for the good of mankind. Maybe it was something like Marvel's Civil War, except the heroes lost...?

  • frank miller make a good job in this comic

  • very nice but the art in the book looks kinda silly. but thats just me

  • you gonna do a vid or anything of return of bruce wayne next whats it like any good?

  • AMAZING!

  • congrats on #100 man! and an excelent video at that!

  • Good job.

  • I love this. I agree with Mlow44 on the superman portayal and all but still very good :)

  • great vid again VsxFedora :] agree with what you and Mlow44 said about DKR's portrayal of Superman too but its a batman story that delivers with an ending that shows how dangerous batman can be when he gets a chance to plan ahead, btw just wondering whats your favourite batcomic? mine probably being 'year1' also is the return of bruce wayne out yet?

  • @COLCS21 THIS is my favorite comic of all time. And Return of Bruce Wayne is on it's 4th issue out of 6 as of now.

  • great video! amazing music and synchronization with the images. I'm not a very big fan of this series. I mean, it's amazing and well-written, and everything. I'm just bitter about their portrayal of Superman as a lapdog. At least in Red Son, he was Russian so he had an excuse (lmao not that Russians don't know any better :P). I just can't condone Superman being written as believing in law and patriotism over the good of all mankind

  • @Mlow44 Couldn't agree more. On the Superman thing. He cares for each and every citizen and will protect everyone even if the government goes sour. Like when Luthor was president. Superman may stand for truth, justice and the American way, but he is the ultimate hero and will never abandon us... That being said, they needed someone for Batman to rebel against in the story and someone BIG so I think Superman was fitting. It's a Batman story, so it works.

  • As an old-schooler who read the book. I commend you on this tribute! AWESOME!!!!!

  • @Magus007 the 80's had the BEST comics... between this, Year One, Watchmen, The Killing Joke... I would have LOVED to be in the 80's as this stuff was first coming out. Such great stuff.

  • My little nickname for the 80's is "The Comic Renaissance". DC had those great titles you mentioned (with Serious House On Serious Earth being a late straggler), but Marvel had some great ones released during that era as well. The BEST of theirs is Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt, but there's also Spider-Man: Death Of Jean DeWolff, Daredevil: Born Again, and X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills. I honestly believe comics have never gotten deeper, better or more thought-provoking than during that time.

  • Congrats on your 100th video

I love this comic in this part was the best part about it

you really did a great job on this one

  • Best fight ever

  • congratulations about 100 videos
