dear amy reederhadley i already knew americans and japanese and chinese can become mangakas but does that mean i would have to move to one of those places its because i live in northern ireland and i want to become one although i dont think i really have a chance from where i live but if i do plz tell me thks cya ^¬^
Hi! You can live anywhere; in this day and age all you need is internet access. You should check out Sweatdrop Studios (look it up)--they're a UK-based collection of manga artists (aspiring and published) and they are very generous with advice.
yeah i heard of sweatdrop studios before in the neo magazine (uk anime mag) and otaku usa the american one apparently its somewhere in england so i think id still have to get on an airplane to get there since northern and southern ireland is sepparated from great britain i actually dont mind moving there cus my dads side is english so ill see in a decade i think (only 14)after art college or else queens uni(ya never know) anyway thks again cya later ^¬^v
i wish i could of got better help when i went to college to become an illastartor :( the teacher just kept bashing me on and on he said it wasnt my culture and then i had to leave college.
I'm so glad that I get to watch this interview. It doesn't happen so often that I get to see a very talented American manga artist/writer. I've always been wanted to be like you when I grow up. Personally I'm a highschool student who doesn't want to do anything BUT drawing (even so i've been taking all ap classes since they just put me there and yes I do try hard and get through sleepless nights to do well in those classes).
I'm so glad that you're so open so we get to see how you work. =)
That was a great interview :D I really liked it. In the future I hope to illustrate my own comic, but I find it hard to place panels in the right spots. I've studied allot of comics and movies, but it's still pretty hard. Practice makes perfect i guess.. Keep up the good work :D
All your work has paid off, Amy! Madame Xanadu is amazing! I've been loving the work you and Matt have done here. I've even been plugging it on my page. I really enjoyed issue #3 by the way.
