@colin10987 i was just surprised because ive mainly heard his lines on songs like eat the meek and linoleum. but i guess good players play simply too.
oh man one of the best songs by nofx. something that really stands out about this song (and stands out from all of the nofx library) is that "when the pity spins you mind, darkness fills your heart" bridge. its so wierd. its like something Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld would write...TIMMEH!!
the switch at 2.31, when the life goes to shit makes this song. the guy gets back on the horse and keeps charging/living, but he knows he's fucked it up.
I am a pretty decent bassist, i will say. I can play some NoFX songs like Moron Brothers and bob, and the quitter. Let me tell you i tried learning this, and it just ain't gonna happen :P
Just wow, to everything about this song. First time I listened to it I just listened to the tune of it, and loved it, as I began to listen to it again and again, the lyrics began to hit me, and it hit me, hard, like no other song ever has. It made me completely question my life, how I live it, where it'll take me, where I am now with it, my eyes were completely opened. I mean, alot of their other songs I agreed with their views, but then I heard this. To me, this is a VERY powerful song.
i think this song title is a reference to "death of a salesman" because this song holds the same themes of a flase american dream just like the playwright
it's not sk8 punk it's not socal punk it's not thrash punk or any other feeble-minded mtv kind of label!
this is what every modern "punk band" is trying to be. this is REAL PUNK ROCK!!! so cleanse your ears of all the disposable BULLSHIT you've been listening to and take in the sound of the masters of punk! after that search pennywise and continue your punk re-education. little bitches!!!
is this song a b side from the longest line or something - guessing that from the pic in the vid? never heard it b4. nice 1 for the post. big upz from scotland
it (2:32 to 2:58) doesn't ruin it, but has a cheesy melody and defintiely throws the sick pace off a bit, but tha part is also crucial because it represents a different emotional thought process....pretty fuckin genius, but what do you expect from fat mike.....this and the decline and linoleum are my absolute favorites from nofx
sure the build up in the intro to the half notes / the verses with their breaks are the best bit. 2:32 to 2:58 is hardly an amznig piece of song writing.
imo its teh worst part and spoils how tight this song is.
Maybe you need to listen to more SoCal punk. That is a textbook breakdown in the same place all other SoCalpunk ones are, right after the scond chorus.
Eh, why is this song blocked in Germany? Such a shame - one of their best songs!
