I love my toyger. Adopted her a year ago from a local animal shelter for $89 US. Found out a few days later via this video just how much she's worth: all I can say is this-- if you're in the market for a playful and gentle cat, and have the xtra greenbacks for a designer breed, go for the Toyger: they're the most amazing little chippies in the world. Mine always goes under the covers when I go to bed. Toygers forever.

I got mine for free! She was a stray. My mom and I took her to Maine. Now we don't know where she is because she got loose in 2010. She either got ran over ,got eaten by a wild animal,or died of the cold and starvation.I don't think shes alive still. I recieved a new cat. his name is Klinger. Although no cat will ever replace her, I couldn't love anything more in the world right now than I love Klinger. Hugs and kisses ... R.I.P Zoey ... my beloved first cat. :)

@GingerGal23456 The Cornish Rex is a breed of cat that does not shed. Also, I have had two Bengal cats that have both shed very little (some Bengals don't shed at all) and are hypoallergenic. I had someone visit who was allergic to cats; she pet and held my Bengal and she never had any allergic reactions.

@ninjanoxrocks ALL animals shed. They just shed -very- minimally and the least shedding ones aren't "hypoallergenic", no species are. People shed, too. Most dust created in our apartments/homes is caused by dead skin that sheds off as we move during our daily activities. The dogs and cats are simply marketed that way, including the "hypoallergenic" pet that the daughters of President Obama has. No such thing as hypoallergenic. Look it up :)

@04071985 I agree with you about the "no animals shed"; I also believe that every animal sheds (even Poodles, which are known for not shedding) to a certain degree. However, I am afraid I will have to disagree with you about the "no animals are hypoallergenic", only because I own a cat that is. So far I have had two people who are extremely allergic to cats (they can't even enter a room with one) pet and hold him with no reations at all. That said, I don't believe all Bengals are hypoallergenic.

@meaganfarr2 I'm guessing that regular American Domestic tabbies are grey, while the toyger is orange and defined black stripes. :) They were going for the exact look....that's why in the beginning of this video, they didn't specify what the second cat was bred with the bengal.

@meaganfarr2 Usually tabby's stripes aren't too distinctive from the fur around it. The toyger was bred to make these stripes distinctive from the rest of it's body, hence its black stripes and rust colored coat. It was created by breeding a tabby with a tom from India and Bengals were later introduced to increase the body size. The breed still isn't done being developed. They hope to increase the nose and nose bridge, whiten the chest and stomach, and decrease the size of the eyes.
