what's funny is that people say it's wrong to use lightning to zap some stormtroopers, but they don't seem to fault a Jedi for using his lightsaber like a spear or lopping somebody's head off, or force pushing somebody off a cliff or slamming them into a wall. Maybe lightning has some other use besides hurting people, but wouldn't it be better to stun somebody that way than cut them into tiny bits with their sword? anyway, it's just fantasy, who cares

the graphics in academy are actually slightly better than outcast. that's because the level architecture is more detailed and the level mapshots are higher res. there's also new effects like true transparency (force power and cloaking effects), and true colored dynamic glow (the saber glows in Outcast are just sprites, essentially). now if you mean aesthetically, well that's no accounting for taste, though they use similar themes both being star wars focused games on similar locales

it can be used in self defence against the sith or hostile units, and it can also be used as a destructive force to clear objects and such - maybe destroy a rock pillar to make a bridge? that sort of thing. anywya this is working of the basis of Jedi Academy - so in the republic's time it would be looked down upon probably.

Star wars can be whatever the people in charge want it to be to make money and entertain people. as for the idea that force powers aren't "inherently good or evil" themselves, that's actually more consistent with the movies than the idea that you gain a dark side point if you use the force for attack (I mean, in the prequels YODA, the guy who teaches that to Luke in the first place, uses the force to attack people all the time)

Unlike the folks in Jedi Academy (who lost their powers at the end when the sith artifacts were destroyed, spoiler alert!) some of the bad guys in Jedi Outcast carried over and still had their powers (and they were dark siders, but not sith).

I'm not sure if people pirate PS3, and Xbox360 games, but I'm sure it will eventually happen if it hasn't already. I agree there's more money to be made from console games because there's less QA testing required (fewer configurations) and they can charge more for games (even used), which means more profit. But the PC outperforms several of the consoles its being released for, and it would be kick butt on the PC!

to reiterate, you DO use a combination of dark and light powers in Jedi Outcast (single player). In fact, that's true of Jedi Academy as well (you CAN anyway). In multiplayer that's the only time you're restricted to one "side" of the Force (unless you're playing Holocron or Jedi Master, I suppose, and Siege Korriban in JA has one dark jedi class that uses a combination of powers).

Force Unleashed will be like this, except the graphics will be far better & the force powers will be MUCH more powerful. There probably won't be guns, but whatever; the only time I used them was when I felt like gunning down a sith lol.

I honestly cannot blame LucasArts for excluding PC: all those hackers are RUINING profits for companies. Google the article on how Crysis' developer, Crytek, is moving on to consoles. It's like downloading music, where you're damaging both the music stores and the poor artist himself.

Because it's not like people can't pirate PSP, Playstation2, or Ngage games, IsraeliDefenda... and there are good ways to induce even would-be pirates to purchase games, like Steam type models or keyservers (used effectively in Quake3 and UT2k4). How are pirates going to enjoy the game if you cut off their multiplayer and access to patches and mods?

As for people cheating at online games, people cheat in console games that are online as well (PSO/2 had this problem).

The PS3 is stronger than about 95% of the PCs out there; I can't think of many PC's that have more than 8 cores and a blu-ray player.

a blu-ray player really doesn't do jack squat for games, except in terms of storage capacity. who cares really, because any PC game these days you'll install onto the hard drive and then play. the only point to having big discs on a console is that you usually don't have a hard drive (or if you do, not a large one) so you have to run more stuff directly from the disc. they also do that to make it harder to pirate games (easier to hack data on a hard drive than off an encypted dvd/bd)

Wow did I really say that? lol ignorance on my part, 3 years ago. Turns out Force Unleashed was pretty average at best, and its sequel less than so. Also turns out that PC upgrades come out what seems to be every hour, so they will, by definition, be at least as good as consoles, if not better

People were implying that making a game "console only" was solely to avoid piracy. I was just pointing out that this wasn't necessarily the case, since console games are pirated as well, and perhaps more than PC games. Many companies have moved to a console model, probably because it saves them money (less testing required and consumers have capitulated to price gouging on the games)
