  • Why pay for something that you can do an effect without? Perhaps easier without it.

  • @blaizethefootylegend Our results are usually better and faster as we use proprietary tracking and optical flow technology and although seems a little more tricky to use, we are confident that the results are worth it. Also, check out vimeo dot com slash 27176075

  • Movie Editors are sexy

  • This isn't really selling it to me as i can do this stuff without twixor, what makes it special and worth buying?

  • @Claytonaitor We are better, as well as we are often faster.

  • @Claytonaitor Also, check out vimeo dot com slash 27176075

  • what exactly is twixtor and how do i get it? i have powerdirectior 9

  • @CMSTfishermen Twixtor is a plugin you can buy from our website. Check our website for compatibility. Power Director is not supported.

  • @revisionfx Twixtor is an After Effects only plug in right?

  • Hi revision effects, I love your software but really need some help. My twixtor will no longer do super slow mo. When I set up the keyframes, the section inbetween two 5% keyframes no longer goes nice and slow, it just freezes on a single frame, then goes back to playing 100% at the last keyframe. I have followed exactly the same proceedure as before so was wondering if there is some setting I have accidently pressed? Your help would be much appriciated :-) v5.0 and cs5.5

  • @LSAphotographyuk Are you working in AE? If you step through the frames between the two 5% keyframes does it show 5% on each frame? Maybe there is another keyframe set by accident. You can always send your project to us at tech support and we will take a look.

  • @revisionfx Hi, thanks for the reply. No, its a new composition and when I run through each frame it stays at 5% (or whatever % im using) then goes back to 100% at the end keyframe. It's really odd, was working fine, and now even when I follow a tutorial to the exact word it just wont frame blend. I'm sure ive accidently pressed some kind of keyboard shortcut that has changed a setting. It's the only reason I could think it would stop working. Is it easy to send after effects file?

  • @revisionfx also, when it renders, you can see it is rendering all the stationary clips as if thats how its meant to be, so I dont think it is to do with the ram preview.

  • @LSAphotographyuk Just write to techsupport(at)revisionfx(dot com) and they will tell you how to send your project.

  • i have final cut pro X, is twixtor something u can use for editing or just slow motion?

  • @Joshneal85 It's a plugin for Adobe After Effects, so yes, it's just for time remapping and such.

  • CLICK :39 repeatedly...meow?

  • I just wasted 9 minutes of my life...

  • awesome! :D I want it already, though my computer isnt good enough to handle after effects at the moment LOL

  • but u can do that without the plugin!

  • Awesome effect, just wondering if you will be doing a quick run through of twixtor 5.5 and its features?

  • @E50Bust Twixtor version 5.0.4 is the latest version for AE and our tutorial addresses the current features. If you are referring to CS5.5 and using Twixtor in Premiere, then there are a few minor changes such as the footage interpretation menu changed locations..

  • but can you use this to make me a sandwich?

  • first 7 mins and no slow mo tutorial -.-

  • This seems really complicated, and the results look exactly like if you put it into premiere and just applied a speed change... so what's the big deal about Twixtor?

  • @darkwoodmovies Twixtor creates better slow motion than most other methods by creating new frames by tracking each pixel. You can check out our gallery page on our website for examples.

  • Does twixtor come with After Effects out of the box? or is it an add on you have to buy separate?

  • @ConceptDynamic Twixtor is a separate plugin and you can download and try it for free from our website and also purchase it there. I can't attach links in YouTube but it is (revisionfx dotcom).

  • Frame fifty spoils the party again.

  • ha i like the way you say twixtor at the start

  • every time i do this, there is always a red x in the middle of the screen flashing, does anybody else have that? how do you make it go away?

  • @BHFhq The red X indicates that you do not have a valid license. You either have a demo copy or there is an issue with your license. You can contact support if you have purchased the software and are having a license issue.

  • @BHFhq thanks!

  • Are there any major differences in working with footage that's 29.97 FPS, versus footage that's 30?

  • @oskArtist You just need to go to interpret footage and make it the same as your comp.

  • lol! Click the 1911 thing on the video player when the car goes fast

  • @steveaux03 That is hilarious. : )

  • @revisionfx This must be an April fools joke from YouTube

  • Why do you sound like Gwyenth Paltrow?

  • agreed with some comments. you could work for one of those hotlines..anyways, good overview.

  • If im not confused, what ive been watching about this plugin, it fills the gap between frames, right? unless it would like various photos...

There is a way of doing it for free here, there is a video and some description how this guy made with an experimental plugin...

    /watch?v=aIj1XKm8Lqw

    Thanks for your attention :)

  • wow you have a cute voice :)

  • @LundLPictures Yeah, I can't even concentrate on what she says. She has one of the sexiest voices I've heard in a while. Where's the Pro demo?

  • fail?

  • is there a program like this that can be used fro vegas?

  • @N0sPr4Yu Twixtor is not developed for Sony Vegas at this time but we are working on it..

  • @revisionfx when it cames out for sony vegas , a BIG thanks to you !

  • @revisionfx

twixtor for vegas would be hardcore sex

  • was it shot in 60i?

  • where can i download twixtor?? and will i need any other programs??

  • @201number201 You can download from our website. I can't attach links in YouTube but it is (revisionfx dotcom). Regarding other programs, it is a plugin so you will need to have a host application, like After Effects. Check our website for all of the other host applications Twixtor runs on.

  • So is the whole program called twixtor or After Effects im a bit confused :)

  • @frogenbogen It is called Twixtor. It is a plugin that runs on After Effects as well as many other host Applications. I can't add links on Youtube but you can go to our website and download a trial copy.

  • @revisionfx a trial copy of after affects?

  • @riyan376 If you are asking about a trial copy of our plug-in (Twixtor), you can go to the RE:Vision Effects website and download a trial copy. It will render with a watermark.

  • There are two issues:

    1) If it ends that big it's related to the codec you are using, it would be as big without Twixtor.

    2) It's hard to help you without a definition of "wassen't workin" means - you need to be more descriptive. You should contact our techsupport department

  • I use twixtor pro, i added some twitch and twixtor to a clip of 2,5 mb... it ended up with 1,95GB and the twixtor wassen't workin?

  • @kevstyledesignz Don't use twixtor pro! I used the same thing, and it happened to me too, so just use the regular twixtor, it works perfectly :)

  • @FanaticWuZie ok thank's m8 goin to try that out again :P

  • @kevstyledesignz no problem :)

  • I love the fact that a woman is making the tutorial because it's always dudes who make audiovisual tuts.

  • The slow motion method didn't work for me. It plays back really choppy. The built-in After Effects speed manipulation looks far better.

  • @ClaytonOrgles It shouldn't look choppy so maybe you are doing something wrong. Why don't you go through the tutorial again and if it still doesn't look right to you, contact tech support

  • @revisionfx Nope, I did everything right. What is there to go over? It's like the simplest process possible :s. Oh well, I don't really need Twixtor anyway, pixel motion will achieve just as good a result.

  • @ClaytonOrgles It strikes me that perhaps you are just hitting spacebar or pressing play, which will try to process the plugin then and there, thus make it choppy during playback. If you go to the menu bar>composition>preview>RAM preview. It will load slowly and choppy, but then store the frames and play it back smoothly. If that's not the problem, then I really don't know.

  • @CathodePhonics That's one of the most basic functions of the program. I've been using After Effects for five years, I know what I'm doing. I heard that Twixtor provided smoother results than the inbuilt plug-ins, so I thought I'd look into it.

  • @revisionfx Her footage looks choppy as well...

  • @ClaytonOrgles LMAO the built in one is horrible...sorry your def. doing something wrong

  • @imask8r Pixel motion both looks better and renders faster, I don't think so.

  • what is the purpose of twixtor ? it seems pointless

  • @KILLASEASON000 Twixtor creates better slow motion than most other methods by creating new frames by tracking each pixel. Also, we are twice as fast as AE, and users tell us they get better results with Twixtor over AE.

  • this tut is full of fail =\

  • how come we don't see any weird warping on this example? Everything I've tried it on, warps funny... I'm saying cause the car goes though the fence....???

  • @tuwhitcombe You may need to adjust the Motion Sensitivity. You can watch the tutorial in this same playlist called "What to do when you get unwanted warping with Twixtor" for more information.

  • how much is after effects and twixtor???

  • @Redefiined You can check with Adobe for AE pricing but a single license of Twixtor for AE on MAC and Windows is $329.95. We offer a price break for 5 or more copies and bundles as well. You can check out our website under products for more details and to purchase or try out a copy for free.

  • @revisionfx now say i have AAE and i have sony vegas 9 already.......can u use both programs together like say i edited something on AAE than something in sony vegas 9 could u some how make it ONE video?

  • Comment removed

  • @andyosully I am going to repeat the answer we gave below. Twixtor is 2+ times faster than AE's "pixel motion". Many of our users say that our results are better. WHen you need to tweak things, we think our settings are more intuitive than AE's TimeWarp filter (which doesn't work in floating point). Twixtor Pro also has a whole set of features to fix things when the tracking goes wrong, which AE simply doesn't have (the ability to use masks to guide tracking, e.g.).

  • @revisionfx You make a good point. I'll remove the comment and check it out again. CS5 does have improved speeds. If i find that what i said was right i shall put the message back. Let the comments judge twixtor

  • can u use twixor for 25fps footage? shot on a canon 5d?thx

  • @teddytawil Yes, watch the Tutorial called "Frame Rate Conversions with Twixtor". I address this in that tutorial.

  • Please help me to understand exactly why this is better than just using "ENABLE TIME REMAPPING" in after effects? I watched about 3 of these videos from you guys about Twixtor and I cant see anything useful that Time remapping period cant do.

  • @DamienBenoit Twixtor may appear to not do anything more than AE. However, Twixtor is 2+ times faster than AE's "pixel motion".

  • @revisionfx I guess I can understand but I never had the need to use more than time remapping that comes with it.

  • Watch this sick twixtor video youtube.com/watch?v=AySdcPc2FfI

  • guys don't you think that 100 dollars would be a normal price for this.... cmon, 330 bucks?! really???

  • And adding onto my other comment... Do u need and apple computer?!?

  • @bubbish314 no, we work on Windows too. and Linux.

  • Is twixtor free?!?

  • No, it is not free. You can find out pricing on our website (you tube won't let us post a link here, so search for RE:Vision Effects

  • what apple do you have ?

  • How did you watch it in real time ?

    What's the shortcut?

  • @julthebaber What do you mean by "watch it in real time" ? Do you mean how are we doing the RAM preview or maybe rendering it out and watching the playback in real time. Those are the two things that I am doing. Can you be more specific?

  • @julthebaber It's prerendering dude, these guys are weird.

  • @julthebaber

    press "0" on the numpad

  • show us your face plzz :} sound sexy

  • does it has any relation with the shutter speed of the footage ??

  • @okalkushmando Shutter speed does not affect the actual retiming per se, but it can affect how easy it is to track. If you are slowing the footage, you probably want to turn up the shutter speed (also, the less motion blur in the original footage, the easier it is to track).

  • can lori be any more boring. Why wouldnt you choose someone a little dynamic to to the tutorials not someone who obviously is reading off a script.

  • Does Twixtor give better quality slow-motion than just simply taking the clip intro AE's time remaping?

  • @demonofskyarchy There are lots of reasons to use Twixtor over AE's features. Many of our customers report getting much better results. We are also 2 or more times faster in many cases. Twixtor has the ability to remove motion blur upon slowing down. Twixtor has a feature that allows you to not generate inbetweened frames on either side of a cut edit in your source clip. ...

And TwixtorPro has features to fix problems that AE simply doesn't have.

  • too much bullshitting around ... I prefer simple Apple Motion slow motion interface. Way faster, and if you want this to be as smooth as possible, you can choose Optical Flow and it does the magic for you ! Check it out sometimes ;)

  • @wojciech94 Perhaps a slightly easier interface (mainly because FCP doesn't give us access to it's internal retiming info), but in tests we've done here Twixtor is more than 2.5 times faster than motion's Optical Flow setting (on an 8 processor machine on 720p footage). And when things go "bad" with their optical flow, they don't have settings to help correct the problems like Twixtor does.

Also, Twixtor works directly in FCP, so there's no going back and forth to Motion.

  • @wojciech94 also, I see you wrote this on our Twixtor for AE overview (after I wrote my first response). In AE CS5, with 8 processors and lots of memory, Twixtor is almost 3 to 3.5 times faster in my same test than Motion's Optical Flow retiming.

  • @wojciech94 Perhaps Motion has a slightly easier interface (mainly because AE and FCP don’t give us access to what we need), but in tests we've done here Twixtor is more than 2.5 times faster than in FCP than Motion's oflow retiming (on an 8 processor machine on 720p footage), and in AE CS5 Twixtor is 3 to 3.5 times faster. And when things go "bad" with their optical flow, they don't have settings to help correct the problems like Twixtor does.

  • Isn't Upper Fields first for PAL footage?

And Lower Fields first for NTSC?

  • @take450 Standard def DV NTSC cameras are usually lower field, and standard HD cameras are usually upper field first. Your mileage may vary. ;-)

  • @revisionfx

    Thanks for the info!

  • @revisionfx what do i do if i have added lots of synicing to a project and i need to add a twixtor slow mo, in middle of the project, how do i add.. say a 20% slow mo, and still keep the sync before and after twixtor? :D

    -A

  • @leafblowinSK8 You would use Twixtor with the speed % option in the Effect Controls and key frame the percentage. Add a key frame at the beginning of the shot and make it 100% and add another key frame the frame before you want the slo mo to start and make it 100% and then the start of the slo mo will be another key frame at 20% and the end of the slo mo will be 20% and then the following key frame will go back to 100%. Also, watch the "Speed Ramping in Twixtor" tutorial for more info.

  • ok, so I downloaded twixtor, but then how do I add the plugin to after effects? I just downloaded a folder with some .aex files, do i drag that into the "presets" folder for after effects? help is greatly appreciated

  • @vrnnator You just downloaded a folder with .aex files? Our installer puts the proper .aex files in the right place automatically for you, so I'm confused as to where you downloaded these files. Did you download the files from a crack'd warehouse?

    Pete Litwinowicz, RE:Vision Effects...

  • Please explain for normal people.... !!! Use Twixtor and speed up your speach girl!

  • check my Twixtor edit please,, thanks

  • IS THERE ANYWAY TO GET RID OF MOTIONBLUR sorry for the caps

  • @dcMediaTV

When you speed up, you can raise the Motion Blur compensation slider.

  • is twixtor only an after affects plug in or can it be used in vegas/procut/avid ? please reply some one !

  • @EazZiB You can use Twixtor on the following Host Applications: After Effects, Avid, Autodesk Combustion, Autodesk Composite, Eyeon, Final Cut Express, Final Cut Pro, Autodesk Flame, Motion, Nuke, PremierePro, Quantel, Shake, SoftImage, Scratch Assimilate

  • tried out twiwtor fr the first time on 25fps footage and it works great! :)

    Check out my video response

  • @emericaenjoi23

I think you did a great job on this! I approved your video.

    Lori

  • I have a clip in premiere pro that I want to edit with twixtor in After effects. it's 1440x1080 and aspect ratio of 16:9 but when I drag it to make a new comp, the aspect ratio becomes 4:3. do I just change the settings to 1920?

  • @emericaenjoi23

In AE comp settings make sure the PAR is the same as the movie.

  • i tried setting a speed keyframe and it does not change anything just the whole clip

    help please!!

  • @MrTylersTechShow #

Can you be a bit more specific about what you are trying to do? If you only set one speed percentage keyframe, it will re-time the clip overall. If you want a speed ramp, then you need more than one keyframe. Watch the speed ramp tutorial for info on doing a speed ramp. 1 sec ago

  • PLEASE support Sony Vegas! Everyone uses it, it would be so helpful! haha

  • very good tutorial, apart from the SHAKY footage, it looks better with stationery camera .

  • When is going to be available as a plug-in for Vegas?

  • We are not sure at this time, if/when we will support Sony Vegas.

  • Thats way to complicated just to speed up and slow down a clip. Wouldnt it be so much simpler to do in vegas where you just cntl, click and drag.

  • This makes it appear that the clip has more frames than it actually does, giving it kind of a high speed camera slow down effect. For example if you're video is only 30 frames per second, when you slow it down 50%, it will be playing at 15 frames per second, which doesn't look nice to the eye. Twixtor makes it look much better.

  • Oh cool. How can it do that?

    anyways nice :)

  • It appears to have created more frames because it actually does synthesize new frames by tracking every pixel when you slow the footage down, Sony Vegas and most of the other re-timers don't actually create new frames and this is why ours is a much smoother result for a speed-up or a slow-down. Also, there are other options within Twixtor for re-timing to an audio track or specific cues.

  • Yes but Twixtor gives out a better slow-motion.

  • you cant do half the slow mo effects in vegas that you can with this plug in in aae, it makes it look 1000000x better. Sony vegas only stretch's the frames.

  • If I download the trial and test it out on my project, then I decide to buy Twixtor, will I have to re-do every clip in my project, or does it just unlock what I've already done?

In other words, when I buy a license, does it just remove the red "X", or do I have to re-time every file individually?

Is the demo install identical to the real thing except for the need of a product key? thanks.

  • The demo version is exactly the same as the full registered product. You will not have to redo any work that you do with the demo version, you will just have to re-render to get rid of the "X".

  • You can get the plugin at our website: revisionfx (dot) com. Click on Products, then Twixtor.

Note that there is a free download by clicking on the "Downloads" tab and then selecting your program. Make sure to read the short manual that is installed with the plugin. Also, there is more help by clicking on the "Help" tab.

  • Woah, your monitor is huge. what resolution?

  • I don't understand why you would use this instead of just using a regular time remap

  • There are lots of reasons to use Twixtor over AE's features.

  • great tutorial ....

  • The second method is using the Frame mode option:

If you are re-timing a section, as an example from frame 100 - 200:

    1. set a keyframe of 100 at Frame 100

    2. set a keyframe of 200 at Frame 200

    3. go to the animation curve and you can play with the timing within the keyframes

  • Here are two different methods you can use to re-time a "section" of a clip:

This method uses Speed % :

    1. set a keyframe at 100% at the first frame.

    2. set a keyframe at 100% the frame before he wants to start slowing down

    3. set a keyframe of 33% (or whatever slowdown he wants) at the first frame he wants the slowdown to occur.

    4. then search for the last frame of the slowdown area, and set a keyframe of 33% (or whatever) there.

5.then at the very next frame, set a keyframe of 100%.

  • Where's the framerate conversion tutorial?

  • I just posted the Frame Rate Conversion tutorial. Check it out.

  • Can you please tell me to configure my video to get super smooth slo mo.

My video is millions of colours and 25 fps. When i tries it kept on stopping.

  • if your slowed down footage stops prematurely, watch the second part of this video. It shows you how to extend your footage using a pre-composition (which is a necessary workaround with Twixtor).

If your footage starts and stops, make sure you have the Frame Rate of your footage set within Twixtor's settings.

If neither of these are your problems, contact us via our support page on our website.

  • Top-Tip!

Save yourself $329.99 by Right-clicking on your video in the timeline and use either TimeStretch or TimeRemapping which are already built-in AfterEffects!

    :o)

  • All kidding aside, this is an excellent point.... there are lots of reasons to use Twixtor over AE's features.

  • Exactly. Twixtor uses much more powerful techology to blend frames when doing slowmotion.

  • You took the words out of my mouth, three weeks ago.

  • I love Twixtor

  • Very clear and concise, THANK YOU!
