The problem with this is that people will go straight to learning songs and will probably skip the tutorials teaching you the basics on the guitar. The world will be full of guitarists that don't know how to read music, tune their guitar, and have no idea how to write songs. Guitar playing was an art now it's just something you can do in a video game.

As they built up technique and confidence in their technical ability they usually begin to dive into the theory and background so that they can understand what they're playing. That's been my personal experience anyway.

@Kleenx98 Yes some ppl will just go into learning songs, those are the ones who will never write songs, play in bands, or work in music because to them its just a game. I on the other hand have had two guitar teachers, I ended up quiting both times but still wanted to pick it back up. So when I heard about the game i saved up some cash and bought it. I practice an hour a day i can read sheet music and tabs i have a real guitar and I owe it all to harmonix and rock band 3 for teaching me the art.

Don't worry mate. Eventually, if someone is talented in playing guitar he will learn what you've said outside the game. It requires a great amount of time to learn how to use these guitars even with the game trainers, so people won't waist their time just to play the narrow setlist of the game. Everybody wants to learn a specific song that most likely won't be in the game.

i know you guys are all like "AWSOME" but to me (a real guitar player) i think it would be really hard because the only way i can get good at a song is if i play it a bit before and know it by heart . but this is showing you all new notes that you have never seen before or practiced so it will be so hard that you cant even use the guitar

@jermrox1 Probably the only thing thats gunna take a while to get used to is the hand sensor, cuz i always gotta look at the guitar frets but at least it looks simple enough. Besides, rockband lets you choose your stuff at the start of the songs, so mabey just turn down the difficulty if you dont know the song all that well.

The concept of using an actual guitar looks very cool, instead of looking at tablature and videos for learning a song (Which should be done by ear if you want to be a really good guitarist), you can play it and master on an actual guitar in a fun video game.

it's kinda cool. like, as a guitarist, i've found people being being mvre interested in me being good at guitar hero and rock band than actually guitar, as it's more of a social thing. but this allows you to have that same sort of feedback but using your actually guitar skills, without having to gig or anything. i'm at this point in time undicided on it. but i think it could actually be beneficial to learning guitar, having scrolling tab is a pretty neat idea.

This removes all the downsides and hard things about learning to play guitar, I've been playing guitar for almost 3 years and although I could probably play a lot of the songs that will come shipped with the game, learning how to and mastering it would be more difficult than simply picking up the game controller and pressing the buttons the game tells me to.

If anything it's a great idea and will probably make a lot of people want to step away and play a real instrument.
