At present I am on a work programme, it's a complete waste of tax payers money, There no more than paper shufflers, There doing what originally the Jobcentre did, NEXT TO NOTHING. All they want to know is what you have done off your own back to find work. Assistance is in the form of help with CV's and numeracy and literacy. I appreciate that there is a large proportion of people that need this help, EXPECT MORE RIOTS THIS SUMMER....AND THE JOB CENTRES ARE DOING NOTHING TO PREVENT IT
A pathetic system, thought up by a pathetic bunch of losers. Some of them criminally intent on ripping the system off themselves (Mp's expenses, etc, etc.). All David Cameron and his cronies are doing is making providers filthy rich. This is costing millions in itself. Plus, to add injury to insult there are no jobs out there. And what is out there is being offered to foreign workers - simply because they will work for a lesser rate of pay! Now tell me im'e wrong!
its a dam discrace..i was forced on a A4E in 2007,,,, friggen con ..... offer you 3 work placements to work for your benefit ..yet on TV , they claimed unemployment figures dropped,,,, dropped?? tell the truth !!!!!! schemes are nt jobs.....
This is not affecting only young people. I didn't know A4E subscribed to this , but I've been put with Maximus but there are others. It reminds me of the Circus Maximus of Ancient Rome. Where is Sparticus, when you need him, to lead the slave revolt. It seems that anything associated with the EU supports these new schemes. The EU is structured like Rome. I've even heard that if your late you might lose some benfits. I can't see how this gives hope as it will demorialise people further.
a4e shit at trianing people up,the bully and intimadate the customers and racially abuse them.....i can prove this it happened to me!!!they even use peoples religions against there customer i was told that my writting looked like bangladishie's and that i should work in a corner shop!!! sterotype, insulted and it would be nice to see them so i can say what i think
Ask your local Jobcentre what its DMA targets are. Each one has a target of JSA to stop. Your case gets sent to a decision maker to stop your money. The Government has recently increased these targets. If they deny this they are lying. You can get this info by request through the freedom of information act. Basically make sure you stick to your 3 steps per week.
The reality of all these programmes are the companies whom win the bids for the business will do a piss poor job and in two or three years another scheme will be hatched. Oh happy days attacking the weakest poorest and least able to fight back. Its the 80s all over again.
another annoying thing is when government folk squeeze the poor people out of their tiny bits of cash, when they are driving around in new Mercedes/Audi/BMW whatever, living in multiple big houses.....and then they say if you cant find work you have to work for nothing, recession=more companies downsizing = more unemployed people and less jobs available.....fucking useless govt
The regime for those on JSA was outlined in the Conservative’s 2008 Work for welfare green paper, produced under Chris Grayling, now employment minister. It proposed that anyone initially refusing a suitable job would lose one month’s out-of-work benefits; a second refusal would result in a three-month penalty; and a third refusal would lead to exclusion from benefits for three years.
In 2008, A4e overall had some 13,000 New Deal clients at its 100 or so centres throughout the country. This represented approximately 50% of the company's activities, but 40% of it was subcontracted to smaller providers. In 2008-9, A4e received £84,433,506 for New Deal provision; that is, more than £6,000 per client.
A4e force people to record job applications for vacancies that have already been filled. There is only a certain number of jobs available in each area, most of them are not suitable for unskilled people. Course providers are bending the rules to fulfill the conditions of the contracts with the DWP. Forcing people to apply for jobs that they know do not exist is fraud. Report this to your MP, and if nothing is done, report it to the press, it is about time we put an end to their little scam.
@dashwood123 I think the minimum wage also should be increased to at least £10h
anything below that and the workers are always going to have a financial burden hanging over their heads in todays competitive world, some people simply don't have the skills or the capability to work their way up and it isn't necessarily all their fault
the bleeding hearts should stop trying to justify the overinflated incomes of greedy bosses and treat people more fairly, everyone who works deserves to have a life
I wish they would not lie to people like this, work experience my eye. It is slavery plain and simple. If they can find work for people, they should pay the minimum wage.
It is illegal in the UK not to pay the minimum wage to employees, you should sue the goverment and the companies running these scams.
@dashwood123 you are correct, "work experience" is also, in my strong moral opinion, a legal form of slavery, its just wrong what some companies get away with when they find loopholes in the system, and yes, obviously they would try to justify it by saying its "training the workforce" but real problem is this, the right-minded people don't seem to have the balls to do anything about it so its our fault as well
we're the lost sheep who allowed the corrupt rich and powerful people to exploit us
@thegrandchaosmaster1 What gets me about this regime is it is not real work experience, packing things in boxes, loading lorry's and sweeping floors for eg does not require people to have previous experience or a brain for that matter. I think nobody would mind going to companies to learn a real trade or profession. But they won't provide placements like that in case you get a real job out of it and be rid of the bastards for good.
@dashwood123 Exactly this will be the future the job centre plus will become a recruitment agency paying wages of £60 a week. If the work is there employ them legitamatly who owns a4e why is tax payers money not being spent on training for real jobs and training.
'How about this - Personal Assistant to two daughters of a billionaire. Both 17, both nymphomaniacs. Your duties are to serve their every physical needs. 10 hours a week, free use of porche, yacht and private jet, 50K a month, Ok?'
well, it depends on how ruthless they are, they might just stop your benefits together, I mean, it has happend to me, where I wasn't appearing on their courses and it was costing me too much to get there and back and they took me off the course, they stopped one weeks worth of payment off me, a full £63.50, this is when the payout was smaller, as said, they jobcentre are ruthless bastards and consider this as punishment, they say you don't have to stay there, your free to go as you please.
but your not really, as if you stay, you get your money, if you go, you lose your money, so be honest, your not really allowed to go are you, this is how they work, were all slaves, cattle to the system, if we don't obey it, we get punish for it and the human rights law can't help us on something like this, even if it means losing the benefits that also feeds you, you leave, you starve, they pay too much to people living with their family and too less to people living alones.
and to people who think i am a bum, i am really trying to look for work, it isn't easy, i live alone, claiming jobseekers and housing, it's not enough, i had load of cash when i lived with me mum and dad, but living alone was my choice, i put my name on housing list and waited 3 years for it, i didn't know how hard it is to live on my own, i was better off living with me parents, at lease i had about £180 at the end of the month, now i be lucky enough to get £8, cause that's all i have left.

'I want a job'.
A4e Advisor says:
'How about this - Personal Assistant to two daughters of a billionaire. Both 17, both nymphomaniacs. Your duties are to serve their every physical needs. 10 hours a week, free use of porche, yacht and private jet, 50K a month, Ok?'
Man says 'You're joking!'
Advisor says: ' You started it.'
