I remember flying Tower Air back in 1998! I was living in California and we took a trip to the east coast a year before actually moving to New Jersey. And I also do recall seeing "Exit Salida" sign and I had no idea what "Salida" meant...but then later on I realized it was a Spanish word for Exit.

This safety video scary!!! The low quality of the safely video and you can tell its very old besides that you can smoke on flights there are no lighted paths to guide you to a exit on the floor or doors in case of fire it would have been scary to fly back then

I am proud to say that I flew Tower Air from Greece to JFK back in 1998 and I can't remember anyone smoking during the flight at that time.

Welcome on board tower air. Your safety is our least concern. The oxygen masks do not work and our life vests cannot inflate because we are too lazy to put in the inflator thingie... And our flight attendants don't give a shit about you. Our main concern is to sleep in the first class area. Thank you for your attention, our pilot will crash the plane for no reason so don't enjoy your flight while I smoke in the first class cabin. That's what tower air is like everybody.

Back in the 1980s airlines used 747 as they had not yet gone towards frequency (over capacity) - Also airlines tend to assign all of their widebodies to international routes

Well from what I know, after it flew from Tel Aviv and landed in New York, it would use the same plane and go from New York to Los Angeles - They did that kind of thing a lot in the 80's and 90's =D

I was a Flight Attendant for Tower from 19912-1994, and Yes, you could smoke on our international flights, it was hell! and I agree with those who thought Tower was a shithole, it was a stepping stone to a real airline.

The aircraft is pressurized both for comfort, and that the pressure difference will not be to great so that the plane doesn't get fatigue on the fuselage. Before, planes were made of more metal fuselage. These days they use more and more aluminum. Therefor, older planes will be exposed to damage at flight level. That's why 787 has pressure set at around 6000 ft because of different materials, versus the older generations up to 11,000 ft in pressure!

Really, Lahayea? every aircraft I've ever worked on has a "power assist" function which will take over and throw the door out and deploy the slide once the control lever has been even slightly turned.
