  • How are those large clown loaches exactly?

  • how hardy are clown loaches compared to a guppy?

  • @fishlover80 - big difference, Loaches like warm water (80-82), and the water needs to very clean and changed regularly.

  • @fishlover80 As long as proper water changes are done (35% to 45%) then it should all be good

  • @fishlover80 As long as proper water changes are done (35% to 45%) then it should all be good Oh, and if you keep the water at 80 degrees or up towards 84 degrees, then all is good. They do NOT do well under 78. Hard lesson for me to learn, a year with clown loaches, they all died. Ich is their major threat. And if it is too cold, they never get strong enough to fight it

  • those are not large clown loaches, those are tiny

  • Hey how long have you had your clowns??

i bought two small ones for my 60gallon tank withh only one other bottom dweller and one top dweller. i want my loaches to get that big

  • Recommend three or more, they will grow to 5-6" in one-two years in a big tank but then they start slowing down their growth

  • i use to have a clown loach but i had to get rid of it because it bothered the rest of my fish and i have recently upgraded to a bigger tank, any recommendations on how many i should get or is one enough?

  • I would recommend three or more, as they are very social fish. This should also make them not both the other fish as much

  • can i mix three clown loaches with 3 rosy red minnows? if u respond thanks thanks thanks

  • My clowns like warmer water, than minnows or guppies. Also as the clowns get bigger they may eat the minnows. I have had Neons with smaller clowns, but I had larger clowns eat Neons.

  • get 3 or more

  • how big is ur tank

  • These are gorgeous fish. My mum tried to talk me into getting some for my tank, but its only 35L!

  • @Totallywild624 should be big enough for the first 2 years

  • i think they are discus assourted like min =D...

  • I have the same decoration =)

    cute fishies!

  • nice dicus in the back

  • i've got two clown loaches, two jack dempsey, and a fierce red devil easily double their size and no one ever messes with the loaches. its interesting to watch because sometimes when the devil is bothering the jacks, the loaches will be the ref - so to speak and stop the fight by nudging the devil on his mouth.

ive also had other fish before the devil and the dempseys that didnt make it but still were cool with the loaches. oscars too.

  • will those loaches get along with oscars?

  • I have seen people do this but I would recommend lots of hiding places, if at all. My The only other fish I had in my large oscar tank were synodontis catfish.

  • nice job.. i used to have that color and type of gravel. changed to sand and the loaches love it...supposedly the larger unrounded gravel injures their barbels.

  • Yeah loaches grow to a foot, BUT it will take them about 10 years to get there. When they hit 6 they suualy slow down a lot in growth. the blue gravel brings out the reds and blacks in the fish. White gravel would bleech them out, Black would make them darker.

  • lol sweet! you have the same gravel and the same ornaments as my tank!

  • how big is your tank, clownloaches and discus get about a foot long

  • 110 gallons

  • Ive got a 120 gallon too, I have a clown loach an elephant nose, 2 large african butterfly fish and sengal birchir : ]

good thing you have a group of them a pair usaly fight

  • I have 9 in that particular tank, but two of them are always fighting for dominance

  • whats the ph in yout water? I heard that you need to have about 6.5 to keep discus but I don't think thats true.

  • it is true, but it is their optimal......mainly if you want them to breed it should be that low...

  • the blue gravel is gone. well most of it... little specks show up time to time... i agree though the blue gravel was the worst choice.

  • great looking fish! i recentlly got 3 clowns myself.

(i must say tho that the blue gravel i feel is a eyesore)sry

  • Fantastic clowns!!! What are you currently feeding them?

  • New Tetra flakes, krill and bloodworms... ocassional snail...

  • beautiful loaches! i should put a video of mine up--they truly are clowns...they play dead a lot which worries me...sometimes they stick themselves against the filter strainer--but when i try to help then they swim off like nothings wrong..

  • Playing dead is what freaks me the most. I lose a heart beat everyh night when I get home and see them piled on top each laying on thier side.

Not sure about the strainer issue, if possible may want to lower the flow. I have lost several of my discus because of that. Good luck

  • overbearing gravel but great looking clowns and discus fish....great!

  • The gravel is the worst, but now I replaced the gravel with black.

  • good...the black gravel might help bring out the colours of you fish, good choice.

  • those are not big clown loaches they can get up to 12 inches in length

  • Nice slowns, but this fish does not deserve coloured gravel in the tank.

  • clowns

  • real healthy loaches you got there :) love the paki loach too keep it up

  • thank you, in addition to the discus & pak loaches, they share a tank with a few stiatas and kubatais

  • they dont stress those discus out?

  • surpisingly enough the discus get along with them fine. in fact, the discus will eat right along side the clowns and they hide in caves with the clowns whenever i am working in the tank.

  • Great looking loaches... :)

  • thank you, the larger one are about 2-3 years of age...
