  • @supersonicshaw amen bro.

  • @fearn'woteva... Pull your head out of your ass! Of course it's not just natural. It can be explained with formula and books lol okay you may have a talent for it buy not everyone does and bragging on YouTube makes you a troll. Now eat my ass and harmonise that!

  • @Salamander40k wasn't bragging. just sharing knowledge in the way others have shared it to me. I sucked at this once and wish i had a youtube when I was 16

  • @waltribeiro thanks for sharing your knowledge.

  • @waltribeiro I don't think he/she was talking about you haha :) I think they were talking to the person called fearn. The majority of us appreciate you trying to help :)

  • Why are you yelling?

  • this was so cute haha :) everything flew right over my head

  • i dont mean to be awful, but harmonizing is a natural talent. if you give me a song that i have never heard in my life, i can harmonize too it. its a natural instinct when you listen to music.

  • @fearonification so now we all know you are naturally talanted. suck on my ball bag dick head! another musical youtube genius. your amazing!!

  • @thejohnjohnny123 yeah but i dont think this video helps, i think you need something alot more practical , not like this.

  • haha i like how he got himself pumped up at the beginning

  • I like this method.

  • that's totally COOL.. haha i like your accent...

  • Jesus christ is way, truth, and life. Give him praise and your life

  • @olhobbler hah thanks!

  • @FreeSpiritsFly i make people cry tears of joy!

  • @Zaptagious nah. just passionate!

  • @waltribeiro Happy to hear it, keep up the good work :)

  • @sexymjg666 SORRY!!!!

  • oh, i see. It's obvious it a C#m chord because it's obviously a C#m chord.

  • 0:43 I KNOW THAT'S A C MINOR CHORD!!!

  • @flamespiker9000 haha cool

  • his approach is really difficult to watch....kinda aggressive and unfriendly....

  • @olhobbler ahhh sorry :(

  • lol XDXD he sounds like sum1 discussing a war plan....XD annngggrrryyy~~~ XD

  • @jascarly123 really? sorry haha

  • @waltribeiro "oh, he kicked himself out. okay then" XDXD lmao XD its okay, it entertained me and made my day XD

  • Horrible teacher. Dude...take some Ridilin and slow down because your mouth isn't keeping up with your brain. You kept switching between C# and Cmin....because you were trying to talk a mile a minute. Fortunately, I already know what you are talking about...but some of these folks who are new to theory are going to get lost real quick with your teaching methodology.

  • @riffism why slow down? rewind button. use it

  • @waltribeiro...yeah, I could do that...but what are you trying to accomplish? Are you trying to teach someone something or just trying to stroke your own ego? If you actually have the desire to impart your knowledge, then you are going to want to slow down. Just because someone has knowledge, it doesn't mean they are a capable teacher. If you continue to teach like this, you'll leave more students simply scratching their heads...and then you've accomplished absolutely nothing.

  • @riffism good point. i agree. I have learned to slow down tho. Look at my most recent video on youtube (the one featured on my page). You'll prob like how I've slowed down.

  • I have no doubt that you know your stuff, but you're not a very good teacher.

  • @GentlemanHES i hate video editing

  • wow finally a useful video abouit harmony! this was a veeeryy energetic lesson btw lol this guy is full of energy xD that's cool!!

  • @jussym09 haha cool

  • travis. actually u can do alot without knowing music theory. alot of famous people learned other ways. as with anything, theres many ways to do it. here are a few who cant read music: Tori Amos, Bob dylan, Yanni, Cusco, radiohead, REM, etcetc. its not neccesary. and before anyone argues, look it up! many think that music theory is a hinderance, not a help. I am of this class of thinking, after having spent 6 years in college for music. I couldve been actually acomplishing something with my time

  • @guineapiggyman i kind of agree. but the more you know can help

  • I'm still wondering about version zero...

  • Could not open this VIDEO

  • HE SOUNDS LIKE EMINEM!XD

  • @nonellis haha cool

  • ...lol..couple things...he looks more like mike posner than justin timberlake..

and yeah..he's really pissed off at this harmony...i think he'll punch it in the face if he could.

  • @dopemcee - punch it in the face - Hilarious - made my morning!

  • @dopemcee haha

  • i just want to say thank justin timberlake

  • @jet07son you're welcome

  • why are you yelling ?

  • @jet07son hes yellin cos he is obvoiusly talkin to a group of people and cos hes not a boring person like say...you!

  • @nseh100 thanks bro. no need to hate haha. but thanks

  • @jet07son pasionate

  • I'd like to know when to use 3rds, 4ths or 5ths to harmonize...is there a theory for this?

  • @GospelPanMan Depends on how you want it to sound. There isn't a theory for the way music has to sound.

  • @GospelPanMan nope. just whatever you hear, write it

  • very cute teacher...where do you teach?

  • @romandhug nyc

  • Comment removed

  • @iLyykMuzik yep

  • duh duh duh duh duh

  • You're a bad, bad teacher.

Couldn't the C#m be an Amajor?

I didn't learn anything at all. Just some guy who harmonized a melody without explaining!

  • @KimAvlastenok at least ur a productive comenter

  • @KimAvlastenok no, because an A major doesn't have a G in it

  • What's a C sharp minor chord?

  • @jefgain C# E G#

  • Hey man, are you slightly deaf or what...?

What's the point in shouting out your knowledge ? ;-)

  • @j0c0b whats the point of keeping it bottled inside?

  • Hey man, are you slightly deaf or what...?

What's the point in shouting out your knowledge ? ;-)

  • "Why was VersionZero kicked out..."

    VersionZero57: I kicked my clone

    Mike 

  • explained nothing to me.

  • @wereonutube99 sorry

  • Why does the chord at the beginning HAVE to be C# minor? It could be a number of other chords (A Major, for example)

  • SIR YES SIR!(shivers)

  • Why's he yelling at me...?

  • @evlainovt sorry haha

  • an easy way to do harmony sometimes is either go a fifth above, third above, or third below

  • @meteorman96 i'm sorry if this sounds really stupid but i've never taken any music lessons so i don't know much music theory. how would you find a fifth or third and what exactly does that mean? haha sorry. i've been playing guitar for about three years and singing as well but, again, i've never had any music theory lessons.

  • @AvLaValley5 lets say the song went C, E, D, F, four simple notes played one after another. The song is in C Major. The song starts on a C, the lowest note of the chord, a third above would mean you'd skip to an E then stick with a third above for the rest of the song. The finished product would then be E G F A

  • Liking the lolz enthusiasm. Actually makes it more entertaining.

  • Its truely a requim! (as you can feel your braincells die while watching this crap)

  • Lol...we don't know why version 0 was kicked from the chat...and if we did we wouldn't be able to answer you bud

  • lmao....have you got a girlfriend, dude?

besides, is this really an harmonization? In music you don't harmonize every note as part of a chord, and yet your harmonization doesn't underline a chord progression, isn't that what an harmonization should be?

  • this dude could be the next billy mays

  • ur confusing

  • Your teeth are really white :) HOTT

  • THANKS for the info : )

  • Stop yelling!

  • naw I agree he's the mountain dew intense.lol funny

  • good stuff dude, very enthusiastic! lol!

  • this guy is intense....in a Cocaine way

  • basically, he's shouting... hehehe

  • Every single work he said would make good lyrics to a rap tune!

  • this guy is intense....in a mountain dew way

  • hahaha your hillarious

  • harmonization by fourth and fifth this is so weak for a harmonization....

  • This doesn't help if you can't read sheet music -.-

  • See ? Learning to read music isn't totally pointless.

  • Dude, reading music is mad easy. It doesn't mean you have to read classical music, but you should be able to read out of a fake book. It is only the treble clef. 10 minutes a day, doing it the right way, and you could read most music in a few months. It isn't worth not learning.

  • Not even months, I got it down in a week. Just gotta learn the finger positions for your instrument, or the buttons you push and strings you pluck.

  • i think hes angry at harmony

  • @Balabup lol. He sounds excited.

  • Knowing your key signatures, M/m 3, and P5 will put you well on your way to harmonizing. Octaves are also a great way to explore harmonizing.

    M3= 4 frets

    m3= 3 frets

    P5= 7 frets

  • He looks just like Tom Curise...

  • i dont see it... more like luke wilson

  • Somehow it sounds like a pre-war prep talk

  • lol

  • Good lesson.

  • amazing! thanks. i have a question--- is it possible to do all this without knowing music theory?

  • nope - learning how notes work is #1 in knowing how to use them :)

  • @waltribeiro stop it! theres a million a one performers with no musical training whatsoever.Learning music theory is for those with no no musical aptitude ,like you,lol

  • @PAULOcbi

    haha you're an idiot

  • @iLyykMuzik not really, same for guitar...self-taught guitarists are always more creative than schooled guitarists. When you learn the guitars` secrets from painstaking practice vs learning these secrets by sumone goin ...put your fingers here.Thats why Richards,Page,Clapton,Allman,Hendrix,VanHalen were songwriting giants and Vai,Gilbert and Satriani cant write a rock/pop song hit to save their mothers` lives. When you learn it yourself your passion is involved,so your passion only comes out, dig?

  • @PAULOcbi

Every heard of Al Di Meola? Allan Holdsworth? Lets go back a few centuries. Mozart? Bach? Lets fast-forward to now. Every single member in both Between the Buried and Me and Scale the Summit have formal jazz training. AJ Minette of The Human Abstract has years and years of classical training.

Of course you aren't going to make engaging, emotional music without a natural inclination towards music, but if you think having a solid base doesn't help then you are entirely wrong

  • @iLyykMuzik of course I understand reading music and taking instruction is great and gives a base to builsd upon.I understand your point and you understand mine.I took 2 guitar lessons as a child and I was off on the musical path>I know all my scales (cept Locrian, lol) but I could use help with arpeggios so I was thinkin` of takin` a lesson or two this year,to spur some activity outta me.Im lazy

  • @PAULOcbi

alright, sorry for the misunderstanding. best of luck to you =D

  • It's absolutely possible. You just wouldn't exactly understand what you're doing :)

Music theory is a science explaining how and why music works, meaning it came after the music.

I'm not saying you shouldn't learn music theory. It's important you study it, otherwise it's like reinventing the wheel all by yourself :)

e.g. ... I started studying theory after 10 years of making music, because I wanted to know what I was doing :P

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I wanted to know the rules the right way by learning theory...Gives you a better understanding and structure of music. So I'm taking pro lessons to add to what I've learned already by ear.

  • if you plan on getting anywhere in music you have to learn at least the basics of music theory

  • @travis5352 yes travis it is possible to do this without knowledge of music theory. i play by ear and play multiple instruments from guitar, bass, drums, piano, saxaphone, without ever reading a note. Takes alot of trail and error tho. its def the hard way. not alot of people got it, but some do.

  • you said you know that have to be a C# minor chord, but why. Why can't it be a G major chord?

  • at what part? What time?

  • @waltribeiro at the f***ing beginning. you sat it has to be a c#m chord to start with but dont say why

  • @waltribeiro at the f***ing beginning. you say its obviously a Cm chord to start with but dont say why

  • cuz the 1st note is a c sharp

  • =/ Not really.

If you'd give me a C# as a tone from the melody, I'm more likely to make a Em6 out of it. Sounds much more interesting.

  • G major is built up out of three notes: G, B and D. There's no C# in it (nor is it in the G major scale), that's why it can't be that exact chord.

I don't see why it's so obvious that it's a C#minor. Perhaps he has a key or a tune in mind that he's not informing us of.

But yeah. It's not obvious at all, since one note does not point to one chord. It could be C#min, just C#, it could also be Em6 or even a Dm/M7 (that's D minor major 7th). It all depends on the song on your head.

  • Nice video, but being able to harmonize comes naturally. If you can't do it, you'll never really be able to. It's not something that you learn...

  • Not really. There is a great amount of study done for hamonization of melody. Take a look at some classical music theory.

  • ha ha ha . what a dude

  • Intervals in music refer to the distance between notes. So four notes from C is F (C D E F).

  • @waltribeiro Remember son, no parallel 5ths or octaves allowed. (: lol

  • thank you, real helpful!!! glad to see this!

  • your tutorials are fantastic

    keep it going :)

  • cool

  • sweet thanks
