This is the first movie by "Thing", who, of course, became famous later for his role in the Adams Family TV series. Very rare footage...don't think I've ever seen him above the wrist before.
Unless I'm mistaken, most of the silent movies were exactly that. They not only had no spoken dialogue, but they also had no music-track. If you watch a silent film on DVD or VHS and there is music on it, chances are that it is music that was added DECADES later. Again, I could be wrong about that.
Also, many of the theaters that showed silent films employed live musicians or (at the very least) a pianist to play music to accompany the antics that was going on on the screen.
ok, i already knew that (but thanks anyway), that's why i described the song on my dvd (avantgarde collection, vol. 5) and i think it matches pretty well; but less common is a silent movie with no score at all. it might not be the original thing but there IS some kind of sound to set the mood, doesn't matter if you added it yourself.
(great, now, that's an idea, finding a new song fot this charming short film).
Wow! Epic!
