Primero que todo este helicoptero es un Mil Mi-8 no un Mil Mi-17. Segundo, no esta dotado de lansa cohetes= no sirve para la guerra. Conclusion el ejercito mexicano no esta preparado para una guerra convencional.
@zerocker45 Una ocasion me subi a un Mi no recuerdo si 8 o 17 pero el chiste es que si contaba con sistema de lanza cohetes y si mal no recuerdo estaba el IPN involucrado, pero de que no es un helicoptero de combate definitivamente no lo es, es un blanco muy grande y es muy lento, para eso esta el Mi-28. @gerarcvm El Mi-8 si puede usarse en una guerra, no como de ataque pero si como apoyo a las tropas. Desembarca y si hay tanques cerca fasilmente le descarga una lluvia de cohetes S-8. Si en el que te montaste era de la Marina Mexicana puede que lleve cohetes pero un invento que le pusieron porque el Mi-8 solo lleva lansa cohetes de la serie UB rusa. Puede que sea uno de los que lansan los Blackhawk.

@zerocker45 Pues no se si los esten reemplazando pero se han empezado a incorporar como dices Blackhawks a la Policia Federal, Fuerza Aerea y apenas llegaron 3 para la Marina. De Transporte presidencial contamos con 4 AS330 Puma y 4 AS332 Super Puma. Desgraciadamente aun contamos tambien con mucho helicoptero civil Bell 206, 212 y 412 en su mayoria y apenas acaban de llegar varios EC725 Super Cougar asi como Sikorsky CH53.

yea it looks a bit too old for MI-17 (since some of it is now computerized and fitted with radars), the external appearance is very much the same with MI-17, only the interior like cockpits are different, still, it is a good helicopter that had many experience< many had misunderstanding about MI-8 with MI-17 because the outlook is the same

i dont think it is obsolete, MI-8 and MI-17 is still used in many countries and it survived, even to the oldest, it is a very good heli and i admit it, it is (i think) the best transport heli in the world

that's is mexico, and this kind of helicopters have fan from fabric,and 1 of the reasons is because in russia mthey r used in cold placesand no body open windows for that reason use the fan for make the air circulate inside the cockpit and you dont imagine so good is this fan when u r at hot areas
The fans are standard in the MI-17 cockpit, actually are even included on the flighs simulator models, and yes, you can open windows inside the helicopter.
The Mil 17 is the best work horse helicopters in the world. It is the most proliferated helicopters in the world, kinda like the AK 47 of the helis. There are teh old version Mil 8 and even a derived attack version which is the Super Tough Mil 24 HIND! It is also very cheap. Its reliable and proven tech. And its easy to maintain and operate.

Yeah I am know all about Sikorsky. He was a Russian immigrant to America where he designed helicopters for the USA. Much diffrent from MIL in Russia who is no longer in buisness, a common thing in 3rd world nations.
