  • worst music ever!

  • I've never seen so many irrelevant unrelated comments on one thread. lol. The sword is crazy huge man. interesting to see it cut though.

@swordsofmight this is one blade you want to work on correct form with. when you pulled it around your head it was very possible that the blade could have shaken, connected with the table you placed the mat on and shattered. I urge you to use extreme caution in the future when weilding such an over sized blade. Crazy video otherwise. That' sword is too much.

  • i could have done without the music in this video......

  • Nice man. How heavy is it?

  • NEED

  • Too big for you pal, stick with a wakamatsu.

  • Because I am a sword collector, I have alot of different japanese swords including a nodachi and an odachi. I have been to weapon expo's in Japan, I have seen the Masamune Collection in Tokyo. In which all the different types of Japanese swords were on display.

  • nice... the classic ancient japanese style- Baseball Bat Ryu.

  • its called a nodachi

  • @THEMINECRAFTSHOGUN No you fucking idjit, it's called Odachi. The No-dachi is something else.

  • @DeanWinchester133 nodachi is a giant samurai sword....

  • @THEMINECRAFTSHOGUN The No-dachi and the Odachi are two different swords. What don't you fucking understand? Google them for fucks sake!

  • @DeanWinchester133 Agreed... but the differences are not that major. The Odachi was made to cut the limbs of horses. The Nodachi was made to kill as many people as possible with each swing. BUT... this sword is not an Odachi. This is actually a Nodachi. The Odachi has a longer handle (1/3 of the total length) and the Nodachi had a handle that is 1/6 the full length. The Nodachi was made for holding with 2 hands, but there were samurai taht could wield 2 at the same time... kinda crazy tho...

  • @estrangdspydr With all due respect, how could you possibly know better than the guy who made, uploaded and named the video?

  • LOL. That fagot can't use a sword properly and is making a video about it.

Disliked and reported "Harmful Dangerous Acts"->"other dangerous acts"

    Fuck off!

  • I'm looking for one of these with an unusual thickness and made of spring steel for extended durability

  • @Vottaro Try the cheness o-katana, it's not as long but it's made of spring steel. Otherwise look up huaweiswords on ebay stores, they do custom work of any kind for a good price.

  • Only sword I own is the $93 sakabato I got from amazon. I still practice with it it weighs 7lbs so I think it's a little heavier than the average katana/nihonto. I'm practicing kenjutsu with it at home or outside where there's not many people outside. Sometimes my dad condo's pool area is empty so I practice out there. I even named my sakabato Mitsu Okita/Okita Mitsu the sister of Souji Okita. Mainly because she stood by him and took care of him while he was sick till she was forced to leave.

  • nice but doesn't katana technique kinda render swinging a blade of that size highly difficult as well as pointless. hence the naganata

  • american fat faks

  • @enkkidu america owns w/e weak ass country u come from

  • @xxwes997xx im sorry, but america isnt that great, always bothering other countries, always taking what isnt theirs...really, its not as great as you think, yes, then you going to reply and tell me how great it is, and at the same time try to insult me, at least think it through a bit...

  • @xxwes997xx no american owns nothing, there debt is so large that the rest of the world essentially owns america

  • @acidburn7777 wait til we start a war and beat your asses. the debt will be settled in the dead of your countrymen

  • @xxwes997xx america will never start a war with Canada. the last time it happened we burnt down your parliament building and kicked your ass

  • @acidburn7777 true but we're not high on weed. wait that's a bad thing dammit

  • @xxwes997xx yea, you bet. i think you are fat american with smal p.ee.nis and big sword. and. yea, you come from big country, what doesn't makes you better and wont make your p.ee.nis bigger. sorry for you

  • @enkkidu judging by how your afraid to type penis, i immagine you must be......8 years old? 12 at most? so why dont you go fuck off you pussy ass little bitch. Your just jealous because we americans have the freedom to do w/e the fuck we want and you are a fucking slave to your government. go kill yourself kthnx :)

  • @xxwes997xx said "Your just jealous because we americans have the freedom to do w/e the fuck we want [...]"

You haven't paid attention to the new recently. You bigot have lose all your freedom already. You haven't noticed it yet because you are blind by misplaced devotion, unhealthy pride and selfishness. Typical amerifag. Fuck you.

  • @newtubetubetube wha freedom have we lost exactly? last time i checked i can still talk shit about my government, own a full auto AK-47, write whatever i want in the newspaper, have due process in court trials, im free from unlawful search and seizure, i can basically do anything i want except rob rape and pillage. Eve heard of the BILL OF RIGHTS? nope cuz your lame country doesnt have one. GOD BLESS AMERICA, oh yeah, thats another one. Freedom of Religion.

  • @xxwes997xx DMCA, PATRIOT act and TSA are censorship, torture and American made gestapo... you really haven't paid attention to anything.

Your full auto AK-47 is your bread and circus. Stupid fool, you are a good citizen. Fuck off!

  • @newtubetubetube the fuck you bitchin about

  • @choopdewoot Read the entire thread idiot. You cant just fool around like a newfuck and reply on a random message before reading the entire thread. Fuck you.

  • @newtubetubetube your a childish assed dumb fuck stop bitchin and bring those arguments to a video about american loss of freedom. not a fucking samurai sword video.

  • @choopdewoot LOLWUT? When you rage at last try to make sense.

  • Odachi=Chuck Norris's Toy Knife! :D I Want One.

  • Odachi were not designed for tameshigiri. They were made for Shinto Priests to defend their temples. They were referred to as temple swords. The battlefield equivalent was the Nagimaki.

  • @reginaninja didn't they used naginata?

  • @malevolenceXXXensues They who? If you mean Samurai and women of Samurai families, then yes they did. The Nagimaki was a Naginata blade mounted onto a long tsuka and used as a sword. The were used against horse bound soldiers to take out the legs of the horse thus dismounting the rider whereby the Samurai would be able to easily dispatch them. The pole-arm version was also used in battle, but had different application. Tameshigiri was not the way to practice with it!

  • @reginaninja the sohei

  • Technique and posture... all around it was poor. The sword on the other hand? Wonderful.

  • your posture wasn't good at all :(

  • Man, he clobbered the shit outta that poor test mat. I wonder if he knows that's a sword, not a spiked club...?...

  • the sword may be long but your swing was weak and slow

remember not to flick your wrists and that you get the maximum amount of power by spreading your hands so that one it by the guard and the other is close to the end of the handle

  • this song is badass lol

  • wats this song.

    sounds so cool

  • I just got a musashi odachi 66 in sword.

The thing is so large it could cut two men in half with one swoop.

Only problem I see with it, is that due to the length it could break with a powerful hit from a katana. If you know how to use it, then that won't happen. But like with all long swords the tendancy to snap in two is greater with every inch of length.

Still this fucking thing cut 4 pumpkins in half with one blow.

  • @Drokua89 Miamoto Musashi's famous duel was with a practitioner who used a very long sword named "Drying Pole".

  • @DonMeaker Didint he beat the dude to death with a rowing oar?

  • @goddimmus My understanding is that he shaped the oar into a sword like object that was longer yet than the Drying Pole.

  • @DonMeaker kojiro sasaki I heard his job was more adminastrative he was never recruited into an army and that he killed a few attackers with a folding fan

  • @malevolenceXXXensues Mushashi had served in several armies, over the years.

  • @DonMeaker I'm talking about his rival not musashi himself

  • I still laugh that people don't realize that these kinds of videos are to show the Quality of the sword, not the weilders form and perfect movements. He works for an online company that sells this sword. I thank you for putting videos online so we can see that it will cut without bending. Besides is he uses it wrong and it still cuts and doesn't bend from it, that puts more goodness to the blade. If you guys wanna complain give him tips to improve instead. Don't wine about it.

  • pityful

  • i have a 200 year old katana bit blunt now tho

  • horrible form

  • Huge ass sword not as fun i like 29 inch blade

  • why don't you use some technique, dickhead.

  • @nivenheim i see where ur coming from. however a big guy like me wields a nodachi like it is a katana. to me a katana is a 1 handed weaon like a wakizashi. i know thats an exception. but it adds bias to my side. for me a nodachi isnt unwieldly its a piece of cake :P

  • @xxwes997xx then you should just do nittoujutsu

  • @weloveyoudimebag nvr heard of

  • you don´t know how to se a sword...i´m a kenjustu studant from brazil, dojo NITEN...

  • WHATEVER IT IS ... IT'S a MONSTER HUGE!!

  • and about what this is. its not an odachi. and odachi has a long ass handle and looks like a spear or pole arm with a katana blade. this is a Nodachi. field sword. where its hand eis prioportionate to the blade meaning it doesnt have an oversized handle its just like a scaled up version of katana

  • I think you are refering to a nagamaki. A nagamaki has a long blade and a handle almost as long as the blade. A naginata is what looks like a polearm, but with a wakizashi length blade. A nodachi is just a scaled up katana. Daikatana is in between katana and nodachi. I think odachi and nodachi are interchangable, but there might be some slight difference.

  • the sword itself could be a lightsaber and with that shitty swing not even cut warm butter...dont blame the sword on the guys shit technique. looks to me like he needs to lift some weights and then practice before he trys to do a demonstration cuz now no1s gna buy his swords when his video shows him falling on his ass and barely cutting a tiny mat with a huge sword that should be able to cleave 3 men in a single swing.

  • Odachi's are known for the their great length and difficulty to handle so it is no surprise that he can't really handle it all to well. As for the sharpness of the blade it is indeed very dull. But other then that it looks like a good item to collect and maybe use once or twice. lol

  • he did even take time to truely swing he it swung it like he got spooked second the sword maybe sharp wich alowed it to go through but the way he hit it he didnt hit it direct enough to cut it fluidly hence being knocked of the stand from a sloppy strike its not rebar its a sword if you dont hit precisly you wont cut through crap itself

  • Wow, that is one dull sword, and one poor baseball bat swing. Knocked over the tatami stand and BARELY made it through the mat. I think I'll keep looking for a better sword.

  • fail

  • I like the sword but the guy looks like he almost fell on his ass when he swung it..

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI LOL! I know, right?

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI it was used more as a symbol of rank for samurai since it was a hard weapon to master

  • exactly which odachi is this on the website?

  • O_O Where did you get it TELL ME

  • Sephiroth's masamune was only an over sized katana. If you like big swords cutting shit, look up "michaelcthulu" in your youtube search bar.

  • An oversized katana is not a katana. A katana can only be classified as such if the blade is around 30 in. or so. If anything, his sword is a Nodachi.

  • It's anime.

  • Uh no it's not anime, it's a video game. But I'm talking in the literal sense, anime or video games aside.

  • ಠ_ಠ There are movies. I just don't think they had the sword in a category.

  • Sephiroth doesn't use Odachi.. He use a custom made thin katana..Which length is over two person's height. Absolutly not Odachi, Odachi's blade is thicker and wider than Sephiroth's..But anyways, it's anime and fantasy..Can't really compare..

  • How do you know his blade is custom? It looks like a Odachi.

  • To be call Odachi, there's two MUST. 1) The blade width- From blade to the spine width is much much wider than a katana. 2) The hilt is much longer than usual katana, but the blade it self is just a bit longer than the hilt.

Sephiroth's katana first, his blade is not wide at all! Extremly thin in the visual effect. Second, the blade itself is way too much longer than the hilt.

Sephiroth's own height is already passed 200cm. And his katana is even taller than himself nearly 2x.

  • its not twice as big as him...just a little bigger

  • i hear its a nodaichi with a longer handle...

  • @NeroEA look, just Callit a Daito, ok? Dai meaning Great or large, To meaning sword. Katana must have a specific blade length and curvature at the base of the blade to be Considered such, and the sword in question meets neither requirement.

  • @LuminOfMoonlight Katana just means "sword". Whether any given blade is classed as say, a katana or tachi for example is how it's mounted. The only way to tell is by checking which side of the blade the smith marked.

  • @Kunstdesfechtens The generic word for sword is "ken". Even "dachi" is better than "katana" for a generic sword. To tell between a katana and a tachi, you are (mostly) correct, but it is a common American misconception that "sword" and "katana" are interchangeable. And if it's a proper tachi versus a proper katana by period forging techniques, there is again a difference in the way the steel is treated, but that's not (usually) applicable to modern swords.

  • Hehehe, Sephiroth can probably cut that into 8 pieces in a second.

  • a odachi sword is used by samuri foot soldiers to counter a person on horseback.

  • A more fitting song would've been One Winged Angel, but whatever...

  • Sephiroth would be proud XD

  • o.0 masamune!

  • WHAT"S THE SONG!!!!! OMG SO COOL!!!!

  • i can haz odachi sword plz

  • Do want.

  • ima have to invest in one of these!

  • ...only $90!? ... im buying as soon as possible.

  • full tang? Sharpened? Didn't look life a very clean cut m8.

  • It could be how he used it. Cutting through something isnt just the sword's job, the user has a big role as well.

  • What the hell is your issue? I said that because it might not be so obvious to some people. You cant see that? There is so much misinformation about swords and martial arts its rediculous. Ill politely give them the correct information and help them be more aware of things. Thats what I did. Speaking of some people, there are those that will pick fights over the most stupid of things. I dont know why you are insulting me, but I refuse to get in a childish arguement with you over this.

  • alright ,, calm down, i dont need a speach, look im not personally attacking u , i dont know, im just yankin ya chain man, dont take it so personal..... :)

  • Alright, no problem then.

  • no you were right its really really really obvious that the person plays a role to. he/she holds the sword and then...omg...here it comes...swings it!!!!!!!

  • I want but cannot afford :'(

  • Nothing wrong with graphic design man :P Anyways what is that he cuts? A peice of wood?

  • A roll of bamboo tatami mats soaked in water.

  • FF7, game worthy of the gods

  • I agree

  • Your both childish, arguing over a ff7 name grow up toddlers.

  • sephiroth ( or whatever his name was) is rolling in his grave with jealousy

  • "or whatever his name was" like you dont know well enough to even spell it properly with a PH. Pfft, the only thing sadder than a FF7 Fanboy is an FF7 Fanboy in denial.

  • its hard as hell to show sarcasm in letters....and how the hell am i in denial... dumbshit, and what do you have against ff7 i only remembered him because i was watching my friend play kingdom hearts and that IS how you spell it his name you dislexic sonafabitch. p.s. i spelled dyslexic wrong so you can actually read it. up yours fucker! BURN!

  • Oh, ow, owie, ow, that hurt! Mommy, the mean man was mean to me!

1: I know that's how you spell his name. My comment refers to the fact that you put in "(or whatever his name was)" like you didn't know for sure, when you clearly do. I bet you got a hard-on when Sephiroth came on the screen.

2: So much anger! Did I hurt the poor widdle fanboy's feewings?

3: Burn? Really? You actually say BURN after you spew intellectual diarrhea like that? What are you, twelve? I mean mentally, not physically.

  • yes, and what are you? six? trying to act like it with all that mommy! mommy! shit, please i'll give one finger 'cause your not even worth two, i'm out. Go cry home to your mama. I'm guessing you were bottle fed?

  • Awesome comeback man, truly genius. Bravo. I am thoroughly impressed and totally pwnt by your mighty comeback. I mean taking my own response, cutting the age in half, and tossing it right back like that? Total genius. You must have wracked your brain to come up with that.

There you go, there's the kind word and pat on the back your parents wouldn't give you. You want a lolipop too?

Alright, now run along like a good boy and let the big boys get back to grown up things.

  • Oh god, i apologize, i was just being sarcastic, and besides, i never played FF7 in fact, i couldn't stand it, now im tired of all this bullshit name calling, truce?

  • meh, sure

  • :D:D

  • @Etimos im a ff7 fanboy, got a problem with it?

  • @kalankaotic Yes, I do. Now whatchya gonna do?

  • calloway FTW

  • If that was black it would be ichigo's Tensa Zangetsu.

  • i wish they had they're afro AF001 in this size

  • It seems funny to me, I love apanese culture and history but seeing as how the ancient japanese people were, on average, shorter than five feet tall, woulden't it be kind of weird for someone of such a small size use a sword that is almost twice as long as they are tall

  • japanese not apanese

  • bite me, you know what i meant

  • yes i do im just an ass

  • dont make fun of height if some one short it doesnt mean they are not strong they can kick a tall man's ass beleive me.

  • An odachi was uaually used a] as an ornament or b] used to cut the legs of horses. Besides, there's a tall person in every group.

  • And while odachi were used on the battlefield they were more often than not offerings at various buddhist and shinto shrines.

  • isnt dat the sephrioph 1 lol i cant spell

  • the main weapon of the samurai were the katana.

The odachi were used when a samurai was on a horse. The bow was NOT the main weapon. The bow was just a distance weopon but every bowman had a katana too.

P.S. I am not very good at english so it can be that some lines aren't right.

  • I think he just snapped it in half, I don't even think it was cut.

  • It was cut, you can't "snap" a beach mat.

  • you look so much like an american

  • Um...I am!

  • hes trying to say that ur fat!

  • Um...I am!

  • HAHAHA!

  • i believed they were used at some point but after they realized they weren't that effective they went back to other alternatives or they didn't train with them that long enough. you also have to remember to that they were also worn across the back of soldiers as symbol of status. but the statistics of a weapon doesn't determine if its bad its the wielder. give the weapon to an experienced person then it becomes deadly. for a spear to become effective in combat back then one would have to know

  • how to properly use it. if the solider back then in certain armies trained with just spears and katana's then their skill in that weapon would be superb. if a foot solider or any solider train with a few of these nodachi's i am sure they would be quite good.

  • its heavier than a spear, and you can have maybe a 1'1/2" to hold at one end. for someone 5 feet and under, its a worthless sword.

main katanas were usually around 36-43 inches. this ones 68!

  • Sasaki Kojiro was one of the best swordsmen of Japanese history, and his weapon of choice? An odachi affectionately dubbed Monohoshi Zao, or clothes drying pole.

  • And he was beat by Musashi with just a wooden boat ore.

  • And who wasn't beat by Musashi with some unconventional weapon or unconventional use of common weapons? Just saying, Sasaki won his fair share of duels too, and it is universally agreed that he was Musashi's toughest opponent. All with an odachi.

  • I'd like to chime in by saying Muso Gonnosuke beat Musashi. Well, maybe, maybe not. But he is the only one even rumored to have beaten Musashi. In all likelyhood it was a draw.

  • mmmm sorry but I don't agree...

However it's the bushi not the weapon to kill.

  • I thought Kojiro Sasaki used a Nodachi.

  • He was said to have used a sword larger than normal, but when he and Musashi fought, the Tokugawa shogunate had limited the size of katana, so he probably used a sword of the maximum allowable size. Lot of good it did him, though. Thats why Musahsi lived to write the Go Rin No Sho, and Kojiro ended up worm food.

  • how do you have a draw in a fight to the death?

  • A draw could be the result of both competitors being wounded and unable to continue. I haven't read the stories yet, so I dunno.

  • That's true, but I believe it was a dishonor to a samurai to loose a fight and live and had to commit ritual suicide (seppuku).

  • You're absolutely right. That slipped my mind.

  • honestly who gives a fuck??? stop bitching!!!!!!!!!

  • it was terrible on the back for one thing... weilding a 12 pound sword with no balance. Europe's great swords were made with pommels to help the weight. i also heard that japanese werent allowed to touch their blades with bare hands, something about it being their souls or something. anywho, if your under 6'3 your going to have an impossible time wielding this mother load, so its either one strike or the strike of fear ur foe gets at the sight of this.

  • Thats a knife. (in australian accent of course)

  • NOW THATs a mans sword

  • ive heard that sword smiths made these to show off their skills.

ive also heard that samurai used them on horses backs to hit other people on horses backs.

i think the first one is the real reason..

  • They aren't much use unless you're about 10 feet tall but shit, if someone walked up to me with one of those I wouldn't think twice before running!

  • I think it was used for horseback

  • yeah, they were used on horseback units and a few foot solders would have them to but i found out they weren't that effect in close quarters. the naginata just like the odachi or nodachi did just as good as this weapon.

  • I would suppose a naginata would be much easier to wield, since the weights are far more balanced and the range is much better.

  • no way theres no balance with that thing on horseback, if anything they were made to take the horsemen out from a nice distance away.

  • its just like a normal katana. i mean you dont to really just swing this sword or pole are fast while on a horse to cut any one. since it's long i sure they probably used the sword as a spear as well. meaning they used the tip a lot more, rather then the edge.

  • spears were the primary weapons for the japanese for along time, before the whole katana 'soul' idea came out. but i dont think they used this like a spear. again, its a giant knife, and the wieght is not distributed right, so attempting to thrust would throw you off balance, besides the enemy could parry and slide in for a kill. no wonder this weapon wasnt popular among sam's.

i beleive theyd rather fight with a blade and shorter blade or a spear than to use this sucker.

  • actually a smaurais main weapon was using a bow ...they were pretty much japans elite archers. If anyone thinks not go read some history please

  • we're talking bout infantry, not horseback. and a different period.
