  • This is a most excellent variant of both Child Ballad #4 and a British broadside ballad, The Outlandish Knight, published between 1813 and 1838 by J. Catnach (London). Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • May I respectfully correct blackwiddow20.

This song was not sung by Peter Knight, but I think by Bob Johnson. The words are traditional but the tune was written and arranged by Bob.

It is on the Cd Time prkcd34

I agree with others this is a lovely song and not played half enough.

Long live Steeleye Span Maddy and Peter.

  • This is Steeleye Span's most underrated song

  • On the same video there was another solo by Peter Knight. Can anyone help with the song.

    Thank you.

  • @blackwiddow20 are you thinking of "The Old Maid In The Garret" ?

  • @rockerbox1973

No It was a song that Peter sang alone. It was about some elves I think

  • @blackwiddow20 Was it Seven Hundred Elves?

  • your welcome!
