@FRRD221 It's not like that anymore anyway :( Now the resturant owners went bankrupt and it's been closed for months...and there is never anyone down there anymore. So sad...
Lake Placid is a good place but for the past six months its bean terrible, you cant rent those boats and conoes any more. And trust me i ride to lake placid every day.
Awesome place, have swam there many a time. Never seen a croc, have heard the stories. The water is usually nice and clear unless you go in the middle of the wet season, then of course it will be muddy! It can't be perfect all the time :)
I am sorry but I gotta say that music was shockin!
i've lived in lake placid for 15 years and only once in its history has a crocodile been sited there.... and it was a baby crocodile under a metre long. the actual lake is not inhabited by crocodiles, however down stream, from the now unused crossing bridge crocodiles can be found.... ironicall one almost ate my dog at that bridge....
I have lived in Cairns for 38 years and my friends and family have all visited Lake Placid many times over. It's a great place to visit and there has never been any incidents with crocs. The Lake is used daily by many people. White water rafting day trips finish at Lake Placid.
i swam in the daintree river till some bloke said I shopuld get out cause Of crocks. No shit I jumped of a bridge waitng to catch a ferry to the rainforest. There was signs but I dint look HAHAH > From Canada not worried about salties. Anyones I hten went and ate a croc hotdog. Greasy like sausage but was good with a coke.
I live at the Lake, the only residence on the lake and have not seen any crocs at anytime, not even with NPWS who after reported sightings have searched by night. 500metres downstream, you may find some salties but not in the lake.

A few years ago, a croc did actually inhabit the area of Lake Placid. But, it is really really really rare
Sopemi 3 years ago
there are 30 crocs per km in the barron river, up to you if you want to swim there. check the sign on the bank just down stream a bit.
oggmttkmbbms 3 years ago
Dude.. there has only ever been one croc found in Lake Placid. It is really rare for crocs to come to Lake Placid.
