@tubemagpie i cant quite remember, he had alot of different wives, Daisy Parker, Lilian Hardin, Alpha Smith, and Lucille Wilson. Im not sure who this one is.
@tubemagpie GOT IT!! Her name is Lucille Wilson (Armstrong), Louis's Fourth and final wife. She was a singer at a cotton club but she joined his band and they did concerts together :D
i used to hear jazz like this all the time when i lived in new orleans and i would go down to the french quarter :) sadly, those days have come and gone no thanks to hurricane katrina. i don't even live in louisiana anymore. makes me miss the old days of jazz and mardi gras. now, i live in the dreary and depressing washington state
@burnit01 thats the same thing people thought about jazz when it popularized but vice versa. And how pop and rap popularized more than rock. I for one love ALL genres of music and prefer to stay oen-minded. To be politically correct, say that you prefer the jazz era than any other. Eras are just a art of everything; music, clothes, cars, hair, etc.
That woman has pretty voice

I had sorted out he wives but just couldn't find who this was.... I like her voice....
Cotton Club singer.... the original closed during WWII... 1940 ish....Duke Ellington was a resident and so was cab Calloway IIRC.
More research needed here...wonder if she recorded?
Thanks.

That is great music. Grew up listening to it, and will pass on listening to it. The music world misses you Satchmo. But we will never forget you.
