Half muffled ringing actually sounds nicer than regular ringing to me it has a certain aura to it. It does remind me of york minster the design somewhat.
Sounds like Grandshire Triples to me and rung very nicely a talented set of ringers. If I ever come to Oz I'll have to come have a ring here.
A few English cathedrals have been influential with others, yours included, but John Loughborough - Pearson , used his knowledge and creative skill to design Truro Cathedral in Cornwall based on Lincoln Minster with a few french touches.
Yes, William Wardell did exactly that in the design of St Mary's RC Cathedral, Sydney, in the 1880's. The east end is Lincoln. (It actually faces north). The west front (south facing) is French, but with two tall spires. I've never been to Truro. I'm familiar with Pearson's work elsewhere.
Bridport, you are right. The West front of York Minster was the (loosely) inspiration for this. The colour of the stone is honey-coloured not the red it appears here.
The thing that will surprise you (because you can't tell from this video) is that the building is tiny compared to York Minster. It would fit into one transept. The architect, Edmund Blacket, genius that he was, designed it to look convincingly like a cathedral and not like a parish church, despite its small size.
That is such a nice Cathedral in that square, with the lovely golden stone too, of the town hall next door.
.
I remember how much these buildings stood out as great monuments in the ninteen-sixties, when I went passed on the bus.
.
Nowadays they stand out for different reasons, and from one of the towering buildings nearby, Park Regis, the view of the Cathedral from the forty-fifth floor is very nice too.

The leather on one side of the clappers to muffle is truly haunting!
