Strangely enough, my favorite "cowboy" movie is "the Good, the Bad, the Weird" by director Kim Ji-woon. It's a South Korean film set in Manchuria during the 1930s. Yet, it plays remarkably like a cowboy movie with a lot of homages to famous westerns. The movie is hilarious.
Your vids are so good, billy! One memorable scene after another, beautiful closeups of almost every major star and well-chosen backround music. A real thrill and great pleasure to watch. More, please.
@zmoore83 lol! I know! I sat down just to find that one iconic bit of all of them walking side-by-side and ended up watching the entire film! So, yeah, I know what you mean ... lol! And once you start it ..... you must finish it!
Old is absolutely gold ! These western films were just outstanding and still fresh showing on TV ! My favorite is " The good! The Bad and the Ugly" all Franco Nero Movies such as Django and Trinity !! Thanks for the wonderful Quality upload.
Thanks! You always have a unique way to seeing and a gigantic love of film. The music is superb. I loved all these films and had a crush on Michael Marion Morrison aka John Wayne.
Another amazing clip! I'm really happy because of advent here fragment of "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford". Btw: I recommed this great psychological western!
Also, I wish you would have given some screen time to Val Kilmer in 'Tombstone', because his Doc Holliday is the best in film history, and he should've been nominated for an Oscar!
@billysscreeningroom2 No, 4:05 - 4:09, that's Kurt Russel as Wyatt Earp in 'Tombstone'. Val Kilmer is barely seen for a spiit second on horseback. He deserved more. But it was still a great video, as are all of your vids. =)
Excellent tribute video to classic westerns! Although, is 'The Last Of The Mohicans' technically even a western, since it takes place in 18th century Pennsylvania and New York? LOL
My gosh, I need to shower off this dust and put something on my sunburnt face... so fully transported to the Wild, Wild West was I!! Two EXCELLENT songs made the Clever Editing LEAP off the Screen.. My Father would've LOVED this!!!
Love all your videos but especially this one all your videos have such wonderful energy and are brilliantly edited also the choice of music is cracking, keep making videos and sending me them.
Lordy Lord. Nobody does it better than you. Tributes to some such as 'My Darling Clementine,' 'Duel in the Sun,' 'The Misfits,' '...Cable Hogue,' 'Comes a Horseman' and 'The Big Country' enable me to overlook any oversights ('O.K. Corral,' the original '3:10 to Yuma,' 'The Professionals') as well as having included the less than greats ('Shalako' and 'The Young Guns'). Some collection...
Great video. RED SUN would have been nice. Maybe a sequel to this then you can add a clip to that. RED SUN is available at Netflix, the full letterbox version. Just saw it last month from them. Brand new copy by the way and not scratched up.
Hello Pilgrims...Hahaha...(as the Duke would say)...I Really enjoyed this vid!!!~A lot of great actors, actresses, and movies!!!-I Like-I Like-I Like!!!
As usual, a great job! I would have loved to have seen a couple clips from The Long Riders (great movie with the brothers Carradine, Keach, and Quaid), instead of Young Guns. Other than that, it was very complete with some comic relief (Blazing Saddles) thrown in as well!
Oh man this video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm reading about Western film in a book just now. Awesome tribute by the way, even though I'm the not the biggest Westen person (that's my grandfather, lol!) I still like this genre very much.
I love it, love it, love it. I had forgotten how many westerns I have seen and loved! I did miss the famous scene with John Wayne, as Rooster Cogburn confronting Robert Duval as Lucky Ned Pepper with "Fill your hands, you s.o.b. Only he said it, with guns twirling as the movie audience stood up and cheered.
Nice edit job overall. Went better with the Bernstein music than it did the mediocre and much inferior Bon Jovi . I could have done without Blazing Saddles or the Brat Pack movie, which you seem to favor over finer films like TRUE GRIT. Where was PAINT YOUR WAGON or THE WILD ROVERS? Nice job, but not among your best by any means.
An excellent compilation and seeing "True Grit" and "My Name is Nobody" rises childhood memories! What about "Red Sun" with Toshiro Mifune and Charles Bronson?
@DrGull1888 lol! You know, I looked everywhere for that because THAT's my childhood, too. I don't think it's on DVD. I really wantedthat shot of Bronson crouching before the sun ----- 'Chatos Land" made it in here instead.
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking thetimeto comment.
Perfect. All the great western movies were there. The music (s) - perfect. I only would have put in the beggining or in the end (to add some more fun) some scenes from the spagetti-western movies (those italian western movies that were so common and, well, let me finish before saying somehting politically incorrect).
Great tribute my friend! The thing that struck me and the perfect film loading!! 360p, 480p, 720p is PERFECT!! Beautiful pictures! A clear vision that makes it pleasant to look at this your masterpiece! Added in playlist!

I missed "McCabe and Mrs. Mueller", "High Plains Drifter" and "The Wild Bunch." I'm sure that there might've been another couple of Eastwood, Wayne or Fonda movies missed there too. But ya just can't have everything. The video would be movie length itself, to include many more of the great westerns, there are so many! Besides "We don't need no stinking badges" gets old after awhile! Another great one Rick!
@MADWORLD1427 Well, thank you very much, Craig. I cut "The Shootist" and also "Cowboys" because I didn't want to make it seem like The Films of John Wayne + those other people. lol! Unconscionable of me, however, to have not placed Jimmy Stewart in here. I failed to use "Bandellero" for either my Raquel Tribute or for this one, leaving out Stewart in the process. Ohhh man...i will get stuck on you're channel..:))) westerns now...wish i had the money to make one...i'm shore it will never be as good as this old treasures...but i could try..:) Even if i know people wouldn't watch westerns these days. @olahmarcusfilms I hope you DO get stuck on my channel! lol! You know, I believe that people WILL watch a western still, still love them in fact; it's all in having a good script. People get burnt out on the achetypes and stuff, I think they want more of what Altman did with "McCabe & Mrs. Miller" or "Buffalo Bill" 9my all-time favorite western); he reinvented the way it was shown to us. Thanks for commenting!
Amazing! How did you know I was in a western mood! Ha ha! I love that you picked my favourite snippet from The Assassination of Jesse James. It's a really gorgeous moment.
Great work as always although I found the inclusion of the scene from Desperadoes and the tractor trailer a bit puzzling and out of place. Ending with the Duke and Clint was fitting. You definitely have a knack for finding and syncing the perfect scores for your videos. :)
@2663KinkyCyborg I kind of agree with you, however everywhere I researched the Rodriguez pictures were included as strong entries in the genre. I wanted to stay within the classic motif, but I allowed myself "Once Upon A Time in Mexico" and "Cold Mountain" (certainly a western, but I took a scene depicting the Civil War, still within the parameters of the time frame), and also the "Toy Story" bit.
I hope I can be excused my folly. lol!
Thank you for the constructive feedback. Much appreciated.
@billysscreeningroom2 Oh it's not a folly by any stretch! Any video is open to creative interpretation. I noticed the Cold Mountain clip which I felt fit and Woody from Toy Story certainly satisfied the 'cowboy' element... it was just the gas tanker and the introduction of technology that stuck out in the Once Upon A Time In Mexico clip that had me raising an eyebrow. I hope you don't perceive my comments as a knock... just an observation. :) Keep up the outstanding work!
@MADWORLD1427 Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Still, there are a good many films I wish I had in here, but I tried to cover the genre as well as aI knew how. Thanks again, Craig.

the driving rhythms and sweeping themes of Elmer Bernstein's music and the

human courage, strength, weakness and fallibility! Intense and superb editing
