they had no basis for claiming it to be fact. no-one had sailed to 'the edge' and verified it. no one had gone to outer space to verify. they only had their opinions to go with. you really need to brush up on your definitions
no, sailors were already aware that the world was definitely not flat. when you travel long distances by ship, you see mountains and other objects simply vanish under the horizon instead of simply seeming more distant.
even late greek philosophers believed that the world was spherical. by 1492, the view of the flat earth was really just held by the ignorant, and sailors of all people would have known better.
columbus simply proved that his small ships could sail west.

they had no basis for claiming it to be fact. no-one had sailed to 'the edge' and verified it. no one had gone to outer space to verify. they only had their opinions to go with. you really need to brush up on your definitions

its still not an OPINION, its a theory. and Opinion is a BIAS thought upon an object numb nuts.

lol, opinions are not automatically a BIAS.

no, sailors were already aware that the world was definitely not flat. when you travel long distances by ship, you see mountains and other objects simply vanish under the horizon instead of simply seeming more distant.
even late greek philosophers believed that the world was spherical. by 1492, the view of the flat earth was really just held by the ignorant, and sailors of all people would have known better.
columbus simply proved that his small ships could sail west.
