Dramaddy, there's a maxim I try to live my life by. "Even the wicked get worse than they deserve."
You don't want to lose sight of the fact that the murder victims got worse than the shooter did, but there's nothing wrong with acknowledging the demons he had to battle with, and feeling empathy. The measure of our compassion is judged by how we treat those we vilify, not those we love.
@Wulfiebaby wait a gosh darn minute!one part of your statement is incorrect. he shot the students and shot himself. the victims were all of them. they all had families too besides that. u r exaggerating or romanticizing the parts u choose to.
The way our society deals with mental health issues is horrible. I am convinced I need anti-depression pills, but my insurance company wont let me just go to a doctor, they want to be the ones to decide if I need to. What a shocker they never even called me back today.
The story isn't shocking -of course this guy was nuts and it's very say. How we stop wackos like this is going to take some creative thinking. It is a shame that schools may have to be like the airport - checking kids in before they can enter the school and locking gates behind them - it would be like going to a prison instead of school but if the kids go home
alive then maybe we have to have very secure methods installed...just a thought.
@dramaddy no, u rn't sick, you are humane and probably pick up or read people better. anyone that watches cho and believes that he was really 'evil' probably is not much of a sincere person. though they may not have killed like cho doesn't mean everyone in society is a good person either or those who judge him. i have children and even if one was a victim of this situation, i couldn't honestly hate him because it's obvious he is a troubled and confused child too and hurting for some reason.
