This is great for countries which are mostly nuclear or water powered or have a lot of geothermal resources. For countries still using coal this isn't better in anyway.
I don't understand why the US doesn't replace their coal plants with nuclear plants.
Here in Europe only France and Finland are building new nuclear plants, France practically runs on nuclear. And here in sweden nuclear+hydropower+biogas covers almost all the electricity, so I think it would be truly no-carbon-releaser here.
@chorianopoulos2002 Actually if we could switch to next generation thorium based nuclear reactors, it would be inherently a lot safer than the current uranium/plutonium based reactors. Good luck trying to convince the lobbyists though..
@Leopoldo888 - I was more writing about the world at large and right now. The three major sources of energy are oil, coal and natural gas (together at least 80% of the total energy production), so to claim that this helicopter does not emit any carbondioxid from its operation is to look a bit narrowly at the problem I think.
@999bofh That's true, but it's not "helicopters fault". It can be "very green", depending of the energy source used to produce H. Yes, we are talking about possibilities more than "today" realities.
@Leopoldo888 I agree, but as I already have written, I think that it depends on the total efficiency of the system compared to a convetional system with bio fuels. It would be interesting to see such a comparision.
@999bofh I think it's also important to remember that every step that we reduce our dependance on traditional fuels is a good thing. Similar steps can be made in other parts of the energy chain as technology allows.
Holy shit that thing looks like a sperm cell....

Is a helicopter powered by rotor tip rockets inherently more stable than a helicopter with rotors driven by a motor in the fuselage?

so whats the flight time and range?

updat42 are you on drugs????? water vapor and oxygen byproduct "is"being powered by a zero emmissions engine

@GoldenChantarelle Nuclear power is inherently dangerous and can never be fully safe with any known technologies.

Ooooooo KAY. I see a helicopter flying. What am I to make of that? You've made a perpetual motion machine? Uhhhh.... NO!

Why cover up any noise with worse noise?

WOW, a flying egg
Great stuff

You can get non-carbon emitting electricity, e.g. wind, solar, wave, and nuclear power. It *could* be powered by a zero carbon emissions process.
H2O2 is nasty stuff though.

What's this "100% free carbon emission" about? From where does the energy to produce the H2O2 come - oh right, from carbon emitting power plants...
If one wants to add some environmental spin on it, perhaps it is better to compare its energy efficiency with a conventional engine solution.

wow, it's not only flies, but also emits 100% free carbon..
I want one! :)
for the winter! :D

@999bofh Maybe in your country, not in mine where 70% is hydroelectrical, and then, natural gas+wind+geothermal....

Anyway it is a really cool system!
